Chapter 29 Beast Tide
Then the female student took out a whistle, and after blowing it, more than a dozen demon wolves pounced on Agreed. Agreed activated Wind Walk again and drew his enchanted dagger from the scabbard at his waist. Then Agreed rushed towards the demon wolves, using his speed advantage to kill two demon wolves instantly with his fine steel knife in one move.
At the same time, Agreed released the blinding spell stored in his dagger to briefly control the surrounding enemies. He then quickly took out another sixth-tier magic scroll and, with the magic power stored in the dagger and the scroll, barely managed to cast another sixth-tier spell, "Chain Fireballs".
Three enormous fireballs, each three meters tall, shot out and slammed into the pack of wolves. The towering flames obscured everyone's vision, and by the time the people from the Summoning Academy reacted, Agreed had already escaped in the chaos.
The female student who led the pack watched as her painstakingly gathered pack of demonic wolves vanished in the blink of an eye. The few remaining wolves lay on the ground, whimpering in despair, clearly doomed. Then, her shrill voice pierced the night sky as she shouted, "You brat from the Elemental Academy! I'll fight you to the death!!"
Argreed, who was two hundred meters away, sneered after hearing the scream and whispered in the direction of the sound, "Many people want to kill me, who do you think you are!"
Then Agreed ran away without looking back, afraid of encountering other guys. He was now completely out of ammunition and supplies, and if another wave of enemies came, he would be trapped with nowhere to run.
So, to escape capture, Agreed came to the closest point to the central region of the Monster Forest, a place where he could frequently encounter large carnivorous monsters. The more dangerous the place, the safer it was, and this was the only place where he could escape the students' pursuit. Although Agreed did not want to put himself in danger, his current situation left him with no choice, since monsters were always easier to deal with than humans.
To avoid the monsters, Agreed smeared his body with their droppings to mask his scent, preventing them from finding him. He also avoided water sources and forests, which were dangerous places where predators were likely to be, and rested in relatively safe places.
Agreed took out the dozens of magic crystals he had left in his spatial ring. After confirming that the area was temporarily safe, Agreed entered a magehood to replenish his magic power. This place was far too dangerous, and he had to quickly recover his condition and see if he could take this opportunity to break through and become a formal magician.
Agreed could feel that he was only one step away from breaking through. As the power of the magic crystal continued to pour in, Agreed also continuously compressed his soul, but he was still a little short of breaking through. Seeing this, Agreed became anxious. In addition, time was of the essence, so he simply took a gamble and directly activated the Styx Soul Forging Technique to absorb a large amount of soul power from the Styx in order to break through.
Because Agred was too anxious, his blood rushed to his head, causing his internal organs to rupture. A mouthful of blood spurted from Agred's mouth. At this moment, a ring on Agred's body that carried healing magic activated, helping Agred stabilize his injuries and at least preventing him from dying.
Ignoring his injuries, Agreed entered a meditative state once more, using the soul power stolen from the River Styx to break through to the level of a mage in one fell swoop.
After a burst of magical energy, Agreed slowly opened his eyes. His pale face could not hide his joy. He had succeeded! He had become a mage, a mage at less than twenty years old! Even among the fourth-year students of the five major magic academies, very few had reached this level.
Agreed stood up weakly. Although he had suffered some minor injuries in order to break through, it was all worth it. After all, magicians don't rely on their bodies to cast spells. As long as their souls are not injured, everything will be fine.
Argrede can now instantly cast third- or even fourth-tier attack spells, so he should have the ability to protect himself even in this area closer to the central region.
(Additional explanation: If it's chanting, magic apprentices can use 0-1 tier life magic, magicians can use 2-3 tier magic, magicians can use 4-5 tier magic, archmages can use 6-8 tier magic, archmages can use 9 tier magic, legendary archmages can use 10 tier magic, and forbidden spellcasters can use super-tier magic, which is 11 tier magic! But in reality, due to limitations in perspective, 11 tier magicians are not actually worthy of being called 'forbidden spellcasters' on the stage of the multiverse.)
After exiting his cultivation, Agreed took out a water bottle from his pendant space and carefully drank some water. He breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed that there was nothing wrong with his body. It seemed that the healing magic was very powerful. At least the damage to his organs had been alleviated to the point that it would not affect his activities. So Agreed found a large rock to lean against and rest. He then took out two magic crystals and used the magic essence on them to fill his magic power.
Just as Agreed had recovered his strength and magic and was preparing to leave to find a safe place to spend the night, the earth suddenly began to tremble slightly. Upon sensing the sound, Agreed immediately activated his Mage's Perspective, a special sensory ability awakened after entering the realm of mages, which allows mages to macroscopically explore a very large area through fluctuations in magical energy.
Agreed quickly spotted the source of the sound in his field of vision. A large group of magical beasts was running from the central area of the magical beast forest towards the outer areas. He roughly estimated that there were at least five hundred of them!
How could such a massive beast tide appear without any warning?! Upon seeing this, Agreed instantly realized that it was definitely man-made, but who could do such a thing?
Could it be those guys from the Summoning Academy? However, Agreed quickly dismissed the idea. The lower-year students at the Summoning Academy mostly tamed and subdued relatively docile magical beasts at first. Few students could command a large pack of magical wolves at such a young age, like that girl before. Moreover, the weakest magical beast in that beast tide was something that only knights could defeat one-on-one. Even the accompanying teachers of the Summoning Academy couldn't trigger a beast tide of that level.
Seeing the beast tide advancing rapidly, Agred quickly withdrew his reconnaissance and looked towards the hunting grounds of the five academies, his face covered in cold sweat. It no longer mattered who started the beast tide; if the students encountered a beast tide of this magnitude, it would be an annihilation-level disaster.
So Agreed quickly took out a distress beacon from his spatial ring and lit it. The soaring signal instantly illuminated the entire sky. Then, Agreed activated amplification magic, amplifying his voice to the maximum and shouting, "Run! There's a beast tide!"
But at that moment, a huge golden light wave struck Agred's location, blasting him away. However, the attack was a step too slow; Agred had already sent out the message. Then, a man riding a golden lion two meters tall rode to where Agred had been.
Upon seeing that the crater created by the bombing was completely empty, the man clicked his tongue and said, "Well, that damned rat got away after all. Never mind, I have to leave now. I can't let anyone see me, otherwise all this preparation for the beast tide will have been for nothing."
As he spoke, the man rode the lion and transformed into a streak of light, disappearing into the Monster Forest. In the giant crater from the explosion, a figure gradually emerged, and that figure was none other than Agred!
