Chapter 19 Identity Exposed
After the test, there was a month and a half vacation. During this time, Agreed stayed in his cabin day and night, practicing the Styx Soul Forging Technique. However, Agreed's practice was very measured. Every time he went to the Styx, he did not greedily absorb the soul energy within the Styx within his own ability. This allowed Agreed to avoid the tragic result of his predecessors who were overwhelmed by the desire for soul power and died.
The process of absorbing soul power is very long, and each time Agred falls into a deep sleep to digest the pure soul power.
Days passed by like this. Agreed's soul ate and slept like a pig in the River Styx, and even Agreed himself didn't know that he had grown his soul to a level close to that of a magician in just one month. Such a speed of cultivation was truly astonishing.
It is important to know that even the most talented magician apprentice needs at least half a year to advance to the level of a magician, and becoming a magician requires at least two years of arduous training. Reaching the level of a grand magician is something that can only be done by those over thirty years old, and some people never even manage to leave the ranks of magician apprentices and enter the inner circle.
The more this was the case, the more Agreed was amazed by the Styx Soul Forging Technique. Tutankhamun truly deserved the title of God of Magic; this Soul Forging Technique alone was enough for Agreed to benefit from for a lifetime.
Then Agreed took out the Bible of the Dead and murmured with burning eyes, "I'm getting more and more curious about your true legacy."
It was at this moment that Tutankhamun, who had been silent for a long time, responded again: "You are far from being able to inherit my legacy. Come to me when you become a great magician. Only then will you be qualified to touch the tip of the iceberg of my legacy."
Agreed then worked even harder, because he needed the power to avenge his parents, and it was this goal that had kept him alive until now.
Soon the start of the next semester arrived, and Agreed walked toward the Elemental Academy with a worried look on his face. Of course, what made Agreed so worried was not his smooth-sailing studies, but his impoverished predicament of not being able to afford food soon.
The risks and difficulties of dealing with the magic crystals in Agred's hands on his own are too great. Agred must find a way to solve the money problem now, otherwise, let alone pay for tuition, he might starve to death in Augustus before he has even learned anything.
Upon reaching the academy's main gate, the gatekeeper shouted upon seeing Agreed, "Agreed, from today onwards, you will go directly to the attic behind the academy library to study with that master. The dean has specifically instructed that you no longer need to participate in any other courses; you are now that master's last disciple."
Such high-profile words naturally attracted the attention of those around him. Everyone stared at Agrede with a mixture of surprise and envy. Because of Agrede's nine-colored talent, many people thought that Agrede was just a good-for-nothing who got lucky. In fact, it could be said that almost everyone in the Elemental Academy thought that Agrede being taken in as a disciple by that person was a complete waste of resources.
With an attitude of "I can do it too," the people around Agrede looked at him unfriendly, which made him very uncomfortable but helpless.
After thanking the gatekeeper who had delivered the message, Agreed followed the map booklet that the college had given him and hurried to the vicinity of the library. After searching for a while, he quickly found the secluded attic behind the library. Agreed nervously straightened his clothes and then stepped into the attic with trepidation.
Upon entering the attic, a stench assaulted his nostrils, and the scene of utter chaos and dust that seemed to have been neglected for years nearly deterred Agreed from entering. Meanwhile, Presidian sat in the only place where he could stand, holding a wine jug and pouring himself a drink.
Seeing this, Agreed cautiously probed, "Teacher? Are you... still conscious?"
Upon hearing the sound, Presidian looked at Agreed, then shook his empty flask and casually tossed it on the ground before shouting, "Why are you so slow! I've already finished my wine!"
Agreed quickly explained, "I'm new here, and it took me a while to find my way here."
Presidian hiccuped, got up from his seat, stared at Agred, and then shouted, "This wine was originally prepared for the two of us, but since you're late, I'll have it all to myself. I have some questions for you, and you'd better answer truthfully, as it concerns whether you can stay here any longer. Do you understand?"
Agreed nodded and quickly echoed, "Please speak freely, I will tell you everything I know."
Presidian leaned close to Agred, staring intently at him. After a long silence, he finally questioned him in a grim tone: "I've seen that pendant around your neck before. It's a cleverly disguised magical artifact. Where did you get it? Did someone from Agred's family give it to you? And what is your relationship with the Shadow Council?!"
The attic fell silent instantly, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Presidian's words struck Agreed like a thunderclap, shaking him to his core. Agreed pondered carefully, and in that moment he panicked. He didn't know whether the forbidden spellcaster before him was friend or foe, nor did he understand why he was asking these questions.
But he knew that if he said the wrong thing, he would be in a situation worse than death. After thinking for a moment, Agreed decided to answer truthfully. He could tell from the fact that the other party could connect him with the Shadow Council based on the slightest clues. Lying would be pointless and might even put him in a more dangerous situation. If the other party was a member of the Church of Light, he would already be dead and wouldn't be wasting his breath here.
Then Agreed instantly changed his demeanor, introducing himself with righteous indignation: "My real name is Izzy Agreed, my father is Tucker Agreed, my mother is Serena Agreed, I am the last embers of the Shadow Council, the last survivor of the Agreed family!"
Presidian looked at him, then suddenly burst into laughter, shouting as he laughed, "I knew it! I knew you were still alive! Old man, how could your Agred family just disappear so easily!"
Agreed grasped the key phrase and immediately asked, "You...know my father?"
Presidian replied matter-of-factly, “You know them? I raised your parents in my arms, but we don’t see each other often after they grew up. I’m a close friend of your grandfather, Hosun Agreed. I didn’t expect you to still be alive. That’s wonderful.” As he spoke, Presidian’s eyes suddenly reddened, and he placed his hand on Agreed’s shoulder.
He then continued, "How did you get here? You must have suffered a lot along the way, child."
Agreed then relaxed and replied with a hint of tears of joy, "It wasn't too difficult, teacher. Although there were some unexpected events along the way, most of them turned out alright. It's so good that there are still people in this world who care about us."
Presidian patted him on the shoulder and said with relief, "It's not surprising that you're the son of those two little ones. Their talent was unparalleled in their time. Your magical talent must be quite good. It's a pity that years of fleeing may have caused your mother to have a congenital defect when she was pregnant with you. I speculate that this is why you have awakened strong magic power but don't have enough talent. But it's okay, I will help you. At least I will make sure you live well, carrying the bloodline and will of the Agreed family... live well!"
