Chapter 24 Adorable Little Deng Yin

Honestly, after this incident, I finally have a place to put the meat and vegetables in the room.

I ate half of it and put the other half in the trash can.

We have so much meat and vegetables that it seems we could eat it all in our lifetime, but we don't have enough seasonings.

If they continue like this, the seasonings will probably last until Deng Yin comes home.

It was already dark when they finished eating, so Deng Yin had no choice but to stay overnight.

In the end, Ma the hunter stood out from the crowd and won the opportunity to let Deng Yin stay at his place.

In the past, when Deng Yin came to the village, he always stayed at Aunt Wang's house. This is the first time he has stayed at someone else's house.

Deng Yin didn't know why, but everyone here seemed to want her to stay at their house.

Deng Yin wasn't one to keep secrets; she was always curious and would immediately ask questions. "Aunt Ma, why do you all want me to stay at your house?"

Hunter Ma smiled kindly and said, "Because I like you."

"Why do you like me?" Deng Yin is less than eighteen years old in this life and the previous life combined, but he is more mature than many adults.

There is no love for no reason, and no hate for no reason.

While peeling oranges for Deng Yin, Ma the hunter said, "Because you're so cute. You might have forgotten, but when you were little, the place you spent the most time was my house."

Hunter Ma handed the peeled orange to Deng Yin, reminiscing, "You were so fair-skinned when you were little, and you would follow me around calling me 'Auntie' all the time. Every time Auntie cut a watermelon for you, you would bite off the tip of each tooth first, and then eat the rest."

“Our two families used to be neighbors. Once, your mother and I were picking persimmons in the vegetable garden. After we finished picking them, we found that many of the persimmons had been bitten. We thought it was the mice that had bitten them, but then we found out it was you.”

Deng Yin's face darkened. He said, "Where is the cuteness in this? It's always chewing on this and that."

“How adorable!” Hunter Ma was very dissatisfied with Deng Yin’s previous remarks. “You don’t understand anything.”

Afraid of being criticized again, Deng Yin silently ate the orange in his hand and listened to Ma the hunter speak.

Hunter Ma, his face full of nostalgia, said with a smile, "When you were little, you hated your Uncle Zhao the most. You would run away whenever you saw him, unless he said he would take you to buy something delicious. You weren't shy at all when you were little. No matter who said they would buy you something delicious, you would immediately go with them."

Hunter Ma rambled on, sketching out Deng Yin's childhood image here.

I have to say, I suddenly find it kind of cute.

Now that I'm in this body, what about the original Deng Yin?

Did he transmigrate into Deng Yin's body on Heze Star like in the novel, or did he die?

Or perhaps the two of them are currently crammed into this body?

Deng Yin secretly asked the system in his mind.

The system hadn't expected this person to be so slow to react; they'd been living here for almost half a year before finally remembering the original Deng Yin. "Dead."

Deng Yin was so surprised he almost cried out, "Dead? How did he die?" He had been lying in bed when he first arrived. Could he have died from some illness? Would that illness affect him?

The system seemed to know what Deng Yin was thinking and explained, "Mental illness won't affect you."

Deng Yin nodded, and Ma Liehu, who was telling Deng Yin how cute she was when she was a child, thought that she was acknowledging how cute she used to be, so he talked even more enthusiastically.

Deng Yin has been here for so long but has not gained the original owner's memories. He can accurately call out people's names entirely thanks to the system. Every time someone the original owner knew appears, the other person's identity will appear before his eyes.

Naturally, they couldn't possibly know that the original owner's cause of death was actually this.

This child is so young, without parents, and lives alone. Although he receives help from others, the love he receives is always limited.

Thinking about it this way, dying from heart disease becomes quite reasonable.

The more Ma the hunter talked, the more energetic she became. If it weren't for Deng Yin yawning constantly across from her, she might have talked until dawn.

Even so, Deng still had dark circles under her eyes when she got out of bed the next day.

Deng Yin found some warmth at Ma Liehu's place and told her that he knew the temperature was going to drop.

Hunter Ma never expected Deng Yin to tell her all this. In fact, hunters rely on the weather for their livelihood, so they naturally noticed the unusual weather this year long ago. Everyone in the village made at least one thick winter coat, and those who could afford it bought a lot of charcoal.

Even though I already knew, I was still very moved when Deng Yin said it again.

Seeing that Deng Yin's clothes were too short, Hunter Ma refused to let her leave, insisting on making her a new set of clothes.

Deng Yin declined, saying, "I have new clothes. Aunt Wang made me several new outfits before, but I haven't worn them yet. I'm wearing this short one so that I won't be targeted by thieves when I go to the market."

Since Aunt Wang had made a lot of new clothes for Deng Yin, Hunter Ma didn't insist anymore. However, he did insist on giving Deng Yin a large bag of tomatoes when he left.

It's not easy to get fresh tomatoes this season; this is probably all that's left in Ma the hunter's house.

It seems like everyone here knows what she likes to eat.

Although I know this isn't for me, I'm still happy because I'm the one going through all of this.

Deng Yin tried his best to suppress his inner emotions, pretending to be happy on the surface, but in his heart he was gradually becoming indifferent.

There's no need to be overly obsessed with things that don't belong to you.

If you become too immersed in the role, it won't benefit anyone.
