In Hubu Lane, Wuhan City, the streets are already bustling with people in the morning.

The early morning sunlight shines through the steam rising from the hot dry noodle stalls on the street, spreading on the road like a golden carpet.

"Soy milk, fried dough sticks, steamed dumplings, hot dry noodles, special snacks, give me a bowl!" The owner of the breakfast stall greeted enthusiastically.

Some people start their day full of energy after eating breakfast, while many others yawn and feel listless, and their day is over before it even begins.

Whether it is a snack bar in the early morning or a bar in the middle of the night, life in a small city is always full of the hustle and bustle of life, while the fast-paced life in a big city is full of air, fire and smoke.

It was already past seven in the morning. The tour guide I had arranged to meet me called and said we would meet at the intersection of Hubu Lane.

There is a fruit shop at the corner of this street. The rolling shutter door is only half open. Above the door, there is a green sign with five big black characters written on it: "Hubu Lane Fruit". An old man is watching over the shop inside.

A few people walked over there in a lively manner, waiting for the tour guide while chatting with the old man. Only then did they know why this place was called Hubu Lane and its subsequent changes.

There is a word in Wuhan called "Guo Zao". Actually, "Guo Zao" refers to eating breakfast.

This word comes from a poem in the Qing Dynasty.

"Hankou Bamboo Branch Poems".

"Three days too early is unusual,

A wolfed-down meal is to be forgotten.

Sliced bean thread dry vermicelli,

Fish soup with chicken."

In Wuhan, the most famous place for breakfast is Hubu Lane.

The tour guide was a young man, dark, thin and very capable. His name was Li Lai Fu, which sounded like he was Li Fugui's brother.

He began to introduce to everyone that Hubu Lane, whose full name is Hubu Lane Han-style Street, is located in Simenkou, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It connects Minzhu Road and Ziyou Road, is backed by Shili Changjie (Jiefang Road) to the east, faces the Yangtze River to the west, is backed by the Yellow Crane Tower to the south, and is connected to Dufu Dike to the north. It is about 150 meters long and 8 meters wide. It is a characteristic street district integrating snacks, leisure, shopping, and entertainment, and is known as the "No. 1 Lane for Han-style Snacks."

Li Lai Fu introduced as he walked.

During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Simenkou was the seat of the Huguang Provincial Administration Commission (now the seat of the Wuchang District People's Government). The Provincial Administration Commission was responsible for tax and household registration, similar in responsibilities to the Ministry of Revenue in Beijing, hence the popular nickname "Ministry of Revenue." During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the eastern portion of Hubu Lane housed the Provincial Treasury, the treasury and granary where the Provincial Administration Commission stored its money and grain; the western portion housed the Wuchang Prefecture granary. Hubu Lane derives its name from its location right between these two warehouses.

Hubu Lane, as a place name, has a long history. A map in the Huguang Atlas, dating back to the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, clearly depicts this narrow alley, suggesting it has a history of at least 400 years. Historically, Hubu Lane was a well-known alley, small but renowned.

Throughout history, this alley, due to its proximity to the docks, has been bustling with traffic and boats. The industrious residents of this alley craft their craft, incorporating the five grains of the Yangtze and Han Rivers, along with dried and fresh produce from around the world, meticulously preparing and preparing these delicious, fresh, fragrant, quick, and hot Han-style snacks, which have earned them a reputation that has endured.

There are many traditional snacks with flavors from various regions, thanks to the fact that this is a place with a large floating population.

Fried dumplings, crispy pancakes and twisted dough sticks, fried dough nests, pan-fried buns, hot dry noodles, hot and sour rice noodles, rice cakes, paste powder, roasted plums, happy dumplings, steamed cakes, pot stickers, boiled dumplings, wontons, glutinous rice chicken, Sanzi, fried dumplings, soup dumplings, roasted sweet potatoes, glutinous rice wrapped in fried dough sticks, crispy dumplings, crispy pancakes, glutinous rice cakes, chopped steamed buns, sweet potato noodle nests, thin noodles, wide noodles, soup noodles, sake, eggnog, soy milk, cockscomb dumplings, fried noodles, fried rice, fried flower rice, fish-flavored shredded pork, clay pot chicken soup, etc.

The Jiangcheng snacks of this region are also a part of the local culinary culture. These include Laotongcheng tofu skin, Sijimei soup dumplings, Cailinji hot dry noodles, Tanyanji dumplings, Shunxiangju roasted plums, Fuqinghe beef rice noodles, Wufangzhai glutinous rice balls, Xiaotaoyuan stewed soup, Laoqianji beef and bean shreds, Tianqiheng glutinous rice noodle soup, Xinnong specialty beef bones, Minsheng Quanke glutinous rice balls, Fuqinghe rice noodles, Yayuan Hunan rice noodles, Chubao osmanthus and red bean soup, Baoqing beef noodles, Yipinxiang steamed buns, Laohuibin five-leaf plums, and Jingwu Road duck neck.

In 2003, the Wuchang District Government transformed the street into the "No. 1 Han-style Breakfast Lane." Through a series of renovations, the buildings here have been given a Ming and Qing Dynasty-style aesthetic. A 19-meter-long, 3-meter-high Han-style breakfast cultural wall has been erected throughout the street.

Hubu Lane consists of four streets and roads, including the western section of Minzhu Road, the old Hubu Lane, the middle section of Ziyou Road, and the southern section of Dufu Dike. It is mainly composed of specialty snack groups, buildings, cultural corridors, cultural walls, stages and other buildings. It is a symbol of Wuhan breakfast and a microcosm of the image of old Wuhan.

Hubu Lane snacks have become synonymous with Han-style breakfast. There is a saying that goes, "Try Hubu Lane in the morning and Jiqing Street at night."

2007年3月,户部巷被武汉市人民政府评为“武汉市再就业示范基地”。2021年3月8日,户部巷被评为“武汉十大景”之一。

Two red lanterns hang from the archway on the east side of Hubu Lane, with "Hubu Lane" inscribed on top. Flanked by couplets: "Small eats find their way to the main road; people say this is a haven for gourmands; the humble alley is revitalized; I respect it as a paradise for entrepreneurs." (This couplet is like a jingle, and of the 14 characters in the first line, except for the one with a level tone, the remaining 13 are all with a falling tone. This couplet doesn't seem like a couplet, but more like a jingle, which is quite amusing.)

Xiao Li led everyone inside, where there were delicious snacks and specialties such as Hubei specialty "Chuwei Zhou Black Duck", Wuhan souvenirs, Chenji beef noodles, Shi Taipo hot dry noodles, candied haws, Xiao Jiang sugar rice cakes, Wuhan three-fresh bean skin, etc.

Three-fresh bean curd sheets are made by grinding a mixture of mung beans and glutinous rice into a paste, wrapping it with fresh meat, eggs, and shrimp, and then pan-frying it. The bean curd sheets are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, yet not greasy. It's a mouth-watering dish that will make you crave it the first time you smell it, and you'll want to eat it again and again.

Sister Xiaotao bought a piece for Zhang Nan to try. She put the finely fried, shiny tofu skin into her mouth and found it refreshing, the meat soft, and the fat rich but not greasy. She praised it highly: "After trying the three-fresh tofu skin once, you will not know how delicious meat is for three months." Sister Xiaotao said with a smile: "You are such a greedy cat. I will buy you a few more pieces so that you can eat as much as you want at once!"

Cai Linji's hot dry noodles are the most authentic. The noodles are soft and crisp with a chewy texture. They are neither sticky nor hard. The sesame paste is smooth but not sticky, and the aroma is very tempting.

Li Fugui and Zhang Bei went over and ordered a bowl for each of them. He gobbled it up in a hurry, and after just a few mouthfuls, he felt nothing and the whole bowl of noodles was gone. In two words, it was delicious, hahahaha!

Turning back and heading south, you will find delicacies such as Li Buer's stinky tofu, malt sugar, secret roasted duck intestines, A Bing roasted chicken feet, and Zhuangyuan roasted pig's trotters.

Kiss Fish Spa is a great place to relax. Hot water fish therapy is 10 yuan per person, which is not expensive at all. The little fish kiss your feet gently, which makes you feel itchy and very comfortable.

After the fish therapy, I walked out of the south gate of Hubu Lane and saw a couplet engraved on the stone pillars on both sides of the archway in front of the main entrance of the alley: "In this ancient city, why not go to the deep alleys to seek delicious food? The unique skills are well-known and the reputation has spread far and wide throughout China." Both the writing and the calligraphy are first-class, this is the level of the couplet!

However, another couplet behind the archway is amusing: "The food in Hubu Lane is hot and fresh, and rice is the first priority for Han-style breakfast." This jingle without any parallelism is deeply memorable.

Walk out of Hubu Lane, walk west for about a hundred meters, go up the overpass, and you can see the Yellow Crane Tower again.

At this time, Sister Xiaotao and Xiaoxing were tired, so the young people came to the must-visit check-in gathering place in Wuhan - under the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.

It was already past one in the afternoon, and the tour guide told us to let them play around first and wait until night to see the more spectacular Yangtze River Bridge.

The tour guide arranged for the rest of the time to be free and unrestrained, so everyone went to their favorite shops!

At the gathering time in the evening, Caishen, Zhangbei and Xiaoxing also arrived at the viewing point of the Yangtze River Bridge one after another.

The tour guide took them to the best viewing spot near the bridge, so they could enjoy the night view and take some photos as souvenirs!

The Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge at night is truly even more spectacular and captivating than during the day, a feast for the eyes. Today's schedule was incredibly packed, and everyone in the livestream enjoyed the feast. Today's tips were another several thousand. Xiao Taojie and Zhang Nan thanked me several times before going to bed, hahahaha!
