HP Star Shining
Chapter 94
The atmosphere in the Gryffindor common room on Christmas morning was less than cheery.
Hermione locked Crookshanks in his dormitories, but was furious that Ron tried to kick him, and Ron was annoyed that Crookshanks wanted to eat Scabbers again.
The two of them ignored each other in the lounge.
Harry also gave up trying to get them to talk to each other and pulled Su Xingchen to study his Firebolt together.
Yes, he brought the Firebolt into the common room.
It was rare for Su Xingchen to show some interest in this broom that played an important role. Of course, the more important thing was that he didn't want to be caught in the cold war between Hermione and Ron, like a sandwich, and it would be uncomfortable to talk to anyone.
So she decided to play with Harry today.
Harry knew that she had never been interested in broomsticks, so this behavior further confirmed his previous idea that the Firebolt was given by Su Xingchen.
He took the broomstick care kit that Hermione had given him for her birthday and wanted to see if he could do something with the Firebolt.
But the broom was smooth and shiny, and it didn't seem to need any further polishing, and there were no short, bent branches that needed to be trimmed. It was simply perfect.
For some reason, this seemed to annoy Hermione as well.
Although she said nothing, she kept glaring at the broom with a gloomy expression, as if it was this flying broom that wanted to kick Crookshanks.
Finally it was almost time for dinner and they came to the auditorium.
The college tables were moved to the side, and a dining table for twelve was placed in the center of the auditorium.
Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, Professor Sprout, and Professor Flitwick sat there, along with Filch, the caretaker.
There were only three students, two very nervous first years and a droopy-headed Slytherin fifth year.
"Merry Christmas!" Dumbledore said to Harry and the other three as they reached the table. "It would seem a little silly for so few of us to sit at the house table. Please take a seat."
It’s a bit silly, but it’s so… so socially awkward… I’ve never eaten with teachers at such a close distance before.
Su Xingchen quickly chose the end of the table and sat down, with Hermione next to her, and Harry and Ron sitting on the other side.
"Firecracker." Dumbledore cheerfully handed Snape the end of a large silver firecracker, and he gave it a reluctant pull.
With a loud bang, the firecracker exploded, revealing a pointed witch's hat with a stuffed vulture on top.
Harry thought of the Boggart, and he and Ron smiled at each other.
Snape's lips tightened further as he pushed the hat towards Dumbledore, who took off his wizard's hat and put on the new one.
Even Su Xingchen couldn't hold it in any longer, it was even more vivid... She secretly glanced at Snape, and her face really became darker.
"Enjoy your meal." Dumbledore looked around the table with a smile.
As Harry was reaching for his baked potato, the doors to the Great Hall opened again.
Professor Trelawney, gliding toward them on wheels, was dressed for the occasion in a green, sequined dress that made her look like an oversized, shimmering dragonfly.
She was still muttering that the first person to stand up during a meal with thirteen people would die.
"We're willing to take the risk, Sybil," said Professor McGonagall impatiently. "Sit down, the turkey is cold as a stone."
Professor Trelawney hesitated for a moment, then slowly sat down on a chair that Dumbledore had just conjured up, between Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape.
She squeezed her eyes shut, as if expecting thunder to strike. But nothing happened.
After a while, she opened her eyes and looked around.
Su Xingchen buried his head in drinking soup, trying his best to avoid the professor's sight.
The person Professor Trelawney was most interested in was definitely Harry, and second only to her.
Although I don't care about her so-called predictions, it's still annoying to hear them too much.
According to the Chinese saying, this is called "the ** cannot spit out ivory."
So except for astronomy class, she usually avoided the professor.
This was the second professor she had avoided at Hogwarts, the first being Gerald Lockhart.
Fortunately, Professor Trelawney rarely leaves her tower, and she came down to have dinner with them today according to the "instructions" of the crystal ball.
"Where is dear Professor Lupin?"
"I'm afraid the poor man is ill again," said Dumbledore. "How unfortunate that this should happen at Christmas."
"You must have known that, Sybil," said Professor McGonagall, raising her brows.
"Of course I do, Minerva." Professor Trelawney gave Professor McGonagall a cold look. "But we won't make others nervous by showing off our omniscience."
Professor McGonagall pursed her lips when she heard this.
"If you must know, Minerva, I don't think poor Professor Lupin will be here much longer. He seemed to know his time was running out, for he made a hasty escape when I showed him the crystal ball."
"Imagine," said Professor McGonagall dryly.
Su Xingchen discovered that Professor McGonagall really didn't seem to like the astronomy teacher. He had never seen her argue with other professors like this.
"I doubt it," Dumbledore said, his tone lightheartedly, but raising his voice slightly, as he ended the conversation between Professor McGonagall and Professor Trelawney.
"I don't believe Professor Lupin is in any imminent danger, Severus. Have you prepared the potion for him again?"
"Yes, Headmaster," Snape replied curtly.
"Very good, I'm sure he'll be up and moving around soon," said Dumbledore. "Drake, have you tried these sausages? They're delicious."
The first-year student who was greeted by Dumbledore blushed and took the plate of sausages tremblingly.
During the two-hour Christmas dinner, Professor Trelawney behaved normally except at the beginning.
Harry and Ron, both wearing hats made of firecrackers and with stomachs about to burst, were the first to stand up.
"Which of you two stood up first? Which one?" Professor Trelawney screamed.
Su Xingchen held his forehead, it came again.
"I don't know." Ron looked at Harry uneasily. He somewhat believed what Professor Trelawney said.
"I don't believe it makes much difference," said Professor McGonagall coldly, "unless there's a madman waiting in the hall to hack the first person who enters."
Even Ron laughed, and Professor Trelawney looked deeply insulted.
Su Xingchen couldn't help but give a thumbs up to the sharp-tongued old lady.
She stood up as well, ready to leave, but Hermione didn't move.
"Shall we go?" Su Xingchen asked.
"No," Hermione whispered. "I want to speak to Professor McGonagall."
"Probably wanted to ask her if she could take a few more classes." Ron yawned.
Su Xingchen didn't think much about it. After all, there was a "secret" between Hermione and Professor McGonagall, so it was normal for them to have a private chat.
