Chapter 760: Life and Death
Zhang Hao took a deep breath. "We have no way out. We can only fight." His voice was firm and resolute, as if he had made up his mind to die. His eyes were fixed on the cliff opposite, without a trace of retreat or hesitation.
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment. After a brief silence, the woman gritted her teeth and said, "I'll listen to you, Zhang Hao." Although there was still fear in her eyes, there was more trust in Zhang Hao. She tightened the magic wand in her hand, as if to give herself courage.
The old man sighed and said, "Never mind, let's give it a try." He looked down at the little girl in his arms, his eyes filled with love and determination. The little girl clung to the old man, tears welling up in her eyes, but she held them back, her small hands clutching the old man's clothes tightly.
Zhang Hao began observing the distance between the cliffs and the wind direction, trying to find the perfect moment to jump. His brow furrowed, his eyes focused and tense, the sweat on his forehead quickly drying in the wind. "Everyone, get ready. When the wind dies down, we'll jump together." His voice was faint in the gusts, but it carried clearly to everyone's ears.
The herbalist was so nervous that his legs were shaking: "I...can I really jump over it?" His voice was trembling, and his face was full of fear and anxiety.
"Believe in yourself!" Zhang Hao encouraged loudly. His eyes were as sharp as torches, staring straight at the herbalist, hoping to give him some courage and strength.
The wind died down slightly, and Zhang Hao shouted, "Jump!" He was the first to leap, his body soaring through the air like an arrow. His clothes rustled in the wind, and his eyes were filled with determination.
The woman followed closely behind him, closing her eyes and leaping with all her might. Her heart was pounding like a drum, threatening to burst out of her throat, but deep within her heart, a powerful desire to survive drove her forward.
The old man hugged the little girl tightly and leaped over together. His face was full of determination, and he murmured to himself: "I must succeed, I must succeed."
In mid-air, Zhang Hao's heart leaped into his throat. He could only feel the wind whistling in his ears, and time seemed to freeze. His mind was blank, with only one thought: he had to reach the other side.
"I must succeed!" He kept praying in his heart. Every second seemed so long, as if a century had passed.
The woman stretched her body in mid-air, trying to reach the opposite cliff, her hair flying in the wind, her eyes filled with desire and determination.
The old man tried his best to protect the little girl. The little girl closed her eyes tightly, her small body trembling slightly in the old man's arms.
However, the herbalist was too nervous and did not jump hard enough, so his body began to fall.
"Help!" he cried desperately, his voice shattered by the wind, filled with the fear of death.
Zhang Hao saw this scene from the air, and his heart tightened. He stretched out his hand with all his strength, trying to catch the herbalist.
"Hold my hand!" His voice was almost squeezed out from between his teeth, and the veins on his arms bulged due to the force.
The herbalist stretched out his hand desperately and at the critical moment, tightly grasped Zhang Hao's wrist.
Zhang Hao felt a tremendous force pulling him downward, his arm threatening to rip. But he gritted his teeth, refusing to let go. His face twisted in agony, but his eyes remained steadfast.
Finally, with the efforts of everyone, they successfully landed on the cliff opposite.
The herbalist collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath: "Thank you...thank you." His voice was filled with relief and gratitude for surviving the disaster, and his body was still shaking.
Before everyone could recover from the shock, a violent vibration came from the fog behind them, and the unknown horror seemed to be about to catch up.
"Hurry up!" Zhang Hao didn't even bother to rest, leading everyone to continue fleeing. His steps were swift, with only one thought in mind: we couldn't let anyone fall into danger again.
Everyone followed him, running as fast as they could, their breathing rapid and their footsteps echoing in the silent valley.
After running for a while, they came to a narrow valley with towering peaks on both sides and only a small path winding forward.
"Is there any danger here?" the woman asked worriedly.
"No time to think, let's go!" Zhang Hao walked into the valley without hesitation.
There was an eerie atmosphere in the valley, and the surroundings were so quiet that it was frightening.
Suddenly, a strange cry came from above my head.
Everyone looked up and saw a flock of huge birds swooping down towards them.
"Be careful!" Zhang Hao shouted loudly.
The bird's claws were extremely sharp and it attacked them...
