Chapter 51: Leaving the Sealed Land
We cautiously stepped out of the sealed room, as if stepping from a mysterious and dangerous dream into the real world. A breath of fresh air, like a cheerful spirit, eagerly greeted us. The cool, refreshing air, like a pair of gentle hands, gently brushed away the depression and tension we'd endured in the room, lifting our spirits. Yet, our nerves remained tense, like a taut bowstring, for we knew full well that this place teemed with unknown dangers, just as countless ferocious sharks might lurk beneath the surface of a calm sea.
"Even though we've obtained this item, we can't let our guard down," I said to Luo Chen, tightly gripping the magical object in my hand. The object's magical power pulsed faintly in my palm, like a vibrant little life, a constant reminder of its importance and the mission we shouldered.
Luo Chen nodded gravely, his gaze like a sharp searchlight, slowly scanning the surroundings. "Indeed, we must leave this sealed place as soon as possible. No one knows if there will be other guardians or traps." His voice was low and steady, echoing in the somewhat empty space. Each word was like a heavy stone dropped, sending ripples of warning in the silence.
We hurried along the winding path we'd come from. The ground beneath our feet occasionally vibrated slightly with our hurried steps, like the earth's heartbeat, faint yet powerful, whispering of the extraordinary nature of this place. Faint runic lights flickered on the surrounding walls, like twinkling stars in the night sky, illuminating our path. However, these scattered glimmers only deepened the surrounding shadows, like the maw of a great beast in the darkness, ready to devour everything.
Suddenly, a deep roar like a dull thunder came from the endless darkness ahead. The sound was like that of a huge beast, full of anger and threat, and every syllable was like a sharp claw, cutting through the air and making people shudder.
"What else?" I subconsciously tightened my grip on the sword. The familiar touch of the hilt in my hand calmed me down a bit. My body tensed like a stretched spring, every muscle brimming with strength, ready to deal with the impending danger.
Luo Chen quickly raised his wand, his eyes like deep lake water, fixed on the direction of the sound. "Whatever it is, we must be careful." His voice was calm, but I could tell from his slightly furrowed brow and tightly pursed lips that he was actually full of vigilance.
As the roar grew closer, its sound like a surging tide, assaulting our eardrums in waves, we saw a massive figure slowly emerge from the darkness. It was a massive stone beast, its body composed of solid rock, each piece tightly joined together as if forged through the ages. Each of its steps was like a small earthquake, leaving deep footprints on the ground, and the surrounding earth and rock trembled slightly. Its eyes were like burning flames, blazing fiercely, emitting a fierce light that seemed to devour us in an instant.
"This looks even more powerful than the previous guardian creature." I swallowed hard, feeling a lump in my throat. I could clearly feel the immense pressure, like a mountain, weighing heavily on my heart.
"Don't be afraid. We've just passed so many tests. We can definitely handle it." Luo Chen tried to cheer me up. Although his voice was firm, I could still hear a subtle worry in his voice. That worry was like a dark cloud, though small, it blocked the sunshine in his heart.
The stone beast roared again when it saw us. It was so deafening it seemed to shatter the entire space. Then, like a runaway truck, it rushed towards us at an alarming speed. The wind it created was like a sharp blade, scratching our faces painfully.
I took a deep breath, as if to draw all my courage into my body, and rushed towards the stone beast. As I approached the stone beast, I suddenly leaped up, my body as light as a bird in flight. I gripped the sword tightly with both hands and swung it at its head with all my strength. My sword accurately pierced the solid stone, only sending up a few sparks that, like fleeting meteors in the night sky, did no harm to it. The recoil from the sword made my arm numb, as if struck by an electric current.
"Its defense is so strong!" I shouted loudly and jumped away quickly. My body dodged to the side quickly like an agile monkey to avoid being hit by its huge body and fierce attack.
Seeing my attack was ineffective, Luo Chen immediately waved his wand, muttering something. Following his incantation, a powerful beam of magic, like dazzling sunlight, shot from his wand towards the stone beast's legs. The beam accurately struck its target, and cracks appeared on the stone beast's legs. These cracks spread like spider webs across its solid rock legs. However, before we could rejoice, the cracks quickly returned to their original state, as if quickly repaired by an invisible hand.
"It seems to be able to repair itself." Luo Chen said with a frown, a hint of surprise and worry flashed in his eyes.
The stone beast seemed enraged by Luo Chen's attack. It turned around and pounced towards Luo Chen. Its huge body drew an arc in the air, like a flying hill. Luo Chen quickly created a magic shield in front of him. The shield was like a transparent dome, emitting a soft blue light. However, the impact of the stone beast was too great. It slammed into the shield like a falling meteorite. The shield flickered a few times under its impact, like a candle swaying in the wind, and then shattered with a "snap". Luo Chen was knocked away and fell heavily to the ground like a leaf caught in the wind.
"Luo Chen!" I yelled, my heart filled with anxiety. My heart felt like it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and worry and fear surged into my heart like a tide.
Without hesitation, I rushed toward the stone beast again, hoping to distract it and give Luo Chen time to recover. Like a nimble hare, I scurried around the stone beast, searching for its weakness and attacking it again and again. However, my sword felt like it was striking solid iron, inflicting minimal damage. With each strike, I could feel the powerful recoil, and my arms ached from the constant exertion.
Just as I was nearing despair, I suddenly remembered the item we'd just retrieved from the sealed room. This item possessed powerful magical powers and might be our only hope of defeating the stone beast. Dodging its attacks, I carefully retrieved the item from my arms, protecting it like a precious treasure. I closed my eyes, focused my attention, and slowly channeled my magical power into it. As I poured in my magic, the item's radiance grew even brighter, a light like the rising sun, illuminating everything around me. I seized the opportunity and waved the item towards the stone beast. A powerful wave of magical power, like a surging wave, surged from the item, sweeping directly towards the stone beast.
After being struck by the magic wave, the stone beast's body trembled violently. Cracks appeared on its body, and instead of healing quickly as before, they continued to widen, like a thawed glacier in spring. Magical light flickered within the cracks, as if the power within it was being forcibly destroyed.
"It worked!" I shouted excitedly, my voice filled with surprise and excitement. The excitement was like a warm current that instantly spread throughout my body and rekindled my fighting spirit.
I seized this opportunity and continued to fire magic waves at the stone beast. Luo Chen also climbed to his feet. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with renewed determination. He concentrated his magic power and joined me in attacking the stone beast. Our magic waves merged like two surging rivers, rushing towards the stone beast. Under our combined attack, the stone beast finally gave way. Its body emitted a dull roar and collapsed, turning into a pile of rubble. The pile of rubble lay there like a small mountain, as if telling of its former might.
"Huh, it's finally solved." I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if all the strength had been drained from my body, and I was exhausted.
"We have to leave quickly. We can't stay in this place for long." Luo Chen said, with a hint of urgency in his voice.
We quickened our pace, continuing toward the exit. As we passed through a narrow passage, we heard the gurgling of water. Like the melodious chirping of birds, the sound was particularly melodious in the quiet passage. We followed the sound and discovered an underground river.
"This river blocks our path. I wonder how deep it is," I said, looking at the water. Under the dim light, the water shimmered silver, like a flowing Milky Way. But I knew that beneath this seemingly beautiful river lay hidden dangers.
Luo Chen picked up a stone and threw it into the river with all his might. There was only a "plop," and the sound of the stone hitting the water echoed in the silent space. After a while, the sound of the stone hitting the water was heard again. The sound seemed to come from far away and seemed a little dull. "It looks deep. We need to find a way to cross the river," Luo Chen said with a frown.
I searched for something to cross the river, my eyes scanning the surroundings like searchlights. Suddenly, I spotted some floating planks. Like lonely travelers forgotten, they drifted slowly along with the current. "Look, those planks! Maybe we can use them to build a bridge," I said excitedly.
We carefully gathered the planks one by one and began to build a simple bridge. Each plank required extreme care, like building a ladder to hope. After much effort, we finally built a barely passable bridge. While the bridge looked a bit crude, it was our hope of escaping this situation.
We walked across the bridge cautiously, each step akin to treading on a tightrope, our hearts trembling with fear. Just as we were about to reach the other side, we suddenly heard a tremendous roar behind us. It was like a galloping army, making our ears ring. We looked back and saw that where we had previously built the bridge, the river had suddenly surged, forming a massive whirlpool. The whirlpool was like a vast black hole, swallowing everything around it. The water swirled wildly, sending up high sprays.
"Hurry up!" Luo Chen shouted, his voice becoming a little sharp because of nervousness.
We hurried to the other side and looked at the huge whirlpool with a lingering fear. My heart was beating like a drum and seemed to be about to jump out of my chest.
"This place is really dangerous everywhere." I sighed, my heart filled with awe for this place.
"But we're about to get out." Luo Chen said, with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. That light was like a beacon in the darkness, giving me strength.
We continued forward, each step filled with anticipation. Finally, we saw the light of the exit. Like the dawn's rays, it pierced the darkness and shone upon us. We ran excitedly toward the exit. As we stepped out of this sealed place, sunlight poured down upon us like a golden waterfall, its warmth filling us with an immense sense of comfort and peace.
"Finally out." I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like I woke up from a long nightmare.
"Next we have to look for other clues to stop the spread of evil forces." Luo Chen said, his eyes full of firm belief.
With unwavering faith, we march towards the distance, a new journey awaits us. The unknown future may be filled with countless dangers and challenges, but we are ready, for we are warriors fighting to stop the spread of evil.
