Transmigrating into the only holy female in the interstellar world, the orcs who have no descendants
Chapter 381 If it were me, I would never...
The cold wind was like a knife, blowing through every corner of the tribe, taking away the last bit of warmth.
The orcs huddled in their caves, shivering. Their skin beneath their fur turned purple, and even their breath froze into frost. The scar on Chief Sarko's forehead stung slightly in the cold wind. He rubbed his stiff fingers and sighed.
In just a few days, the tribe lost three elderly members and a cub.
"This cold season came earlier and more severely than in previous years." Sako looked up at the sky and saw that the dark clouds were very low.
Meanwhile, in Rosie's cave.
The warmth from the kang enveloped the entire space. Luo Xi stretched lazily, turned her head to look at the falling snow outside the cave, a hint of relief flashing in her eyes.
"I'm so glad I made preparations in advance." She touched the warm stone slab beneath her. This wisdom brought from the Blue Star was particularly precious in this primitive world.
Falcon carried the stone bowl into the cave, snowflakes fell on his black hair, and he shook them off before they melted. He put the bowl down, and Rosie leaned over to see that the bright red berries had piled up into a small hill.
"It was sent by the Water Tribe." Falcon's voice was dry. "They said they wanted to thank you for teaching them how to build a kang."
Rosie smiled, picked up a berry and put it in her mouth, the sweet and sour juice spreading in her mouth. She noticed that Falcon's eyes were fixed on her lips, and she licked them unconsciously.
Falcon abruptly looked away, his Adam's apple rolling.
"Tomorrow I'll teach you how to hunt," the falcon said suddenly. "You can't always live on the food that's delivered to you."
Rosie was stunned, almost choking on her berries. Falcon actually offered to teach her how to hunt? This was a first.
"Really? Aren't you afraid that I'll hold you back?" Rosie asked tentatively.
Falcon frowned: "Stop talking nonsense. Do you want to learn or not?"
"Yes! Of course!" Rosie nodded quickly.
Falcon's lips twitched in what amounted to a smile. He reached out and untied a stone knife from his waist, handing it to Luo Xi: "Practice how to hold the knife first."
Luo Xi took the stone knife and gestured awkwardly. Falcon sighed, stood directly behind her, and taught her the correct posture step by step.
His chest was pressed against her back, his breath brushing her ear, and Rosie's heartbeat quickened. Too close, so close that she could feel the warmth of his skin.
"Keep your wrist steady." Falcon's voice sounded in his ears, low and magnetic.
Luo Xi nodded, but her mind was full of the figure of the other silver-haired man. How long had Yu been gone? Where was he now? Was he safe?
"Are you distracted?" Falcon let go of his hand and stared into Rosie's eyes.
"Sorry." Luo Xi withdrew her thoughts and gripped the stone knife tightly. "I will study hard."
She didn't notice the hint of disappointment that flashed in Falcon's eyes.
As the days passed, Falcon took better care of Rosie. He no longer mocked her for being weak, but instead patiently taught her various skills for surviving in the wild.
He personally sewed a thicker fur coat for her to ensure that she would not get frostbite when she went out in the cold season. He even changed his own schedule to accommodate Rosie's habits.
Rosie was both grateful and confused by these changes.
One day, Rosie successfully caught a small prey using the method taught by the falcon. She ran back to the cave cheering, eager to share her joy.
"Falcon! I did it!" She held up her trophy, her eyes gleaming with victory.
Falcon turned back to look at her, the corners of his mouth raised unconsciously: "Not bad."
Those two simple words warmed Rosie's heart. She suddenly realized when Falcon's approval had become so important.
Another snowstorm was coming outside the cave. Falcon added some firewood, and the firelight reflected on his chiseled profile, outlining the perfect lines.
Rosie couldn't help but take a few more looks. She had to admit, the falcon was attractive—strong, reliable, and, despite its bad temper, kindhearted.
The thought startled her. What was she thinking? She loved the rain.
"What's wrong?" Falcon noticed the change in her expression.
"Nothing, just..." Rosie hesitated, "I'm wondering when the rain will come back."
Falcon's expression suddenly turned cold. He turned his head away, his voice filled with suppressed anger: "What if he doesn't come back?"
Rosie's heart tightened. "He'll come back. He promised."
"What's the point of promises?" Falcon stood up suddenly, his eyes burning with emotion. "He's been away for so long, maybe he's already forgotten you."
"Why do you say that?" Luo Xi also stood up, her voice trembling slightly.
Falcon took a step closer, and the height difference forced Rosie to look up at him. His breathing was rapid, and his eyes were complicated. "Because if it were me, I would never leave you for so long."
Luo Xi was stunned, her heart skipping a beat. The meaning of this sentence was too obvious, she didn't dare to think about it too much.
"I..." She took a step back, her eyes flickering, "I need a moment."
Falcon watched her retreat, took a deep breath, turned and walked towards the cave entrance: "I'll go patrol."
The cold wind rushed into the cave, but it did nothing to dispel the awkward atmosphere. Luo Xi sat back down by the fire, her mind in turmoil.
She closed her eyes, and a gentle smile of Yu appeared in her mind. But when she opened her eyes again, she saw Falcon's resolute back, braving the wind and snow to shield her from all the cold and danger.
"What's wrong with me?" Rosie covered her face, feeling more confused than ever before.
The balance in her heart was unsettled – on one side was the gentle and considerate Yu, on the other the rough and straightforward Falcon. These two completely different temperaments, yet both left their mark on her heart.
The heat from the kang filtered through the hide, bringing a warm and comfortable warmth. Rosie knew this warmth was largely due to the falcon's assistance and protection. Without him, she might have frozen to death in this strange world.
But rain... there is always a place in her heart reserved for rain.
"Yu, where are you?" Luo Xi whispered softly, her voice swallowed by the wind.
Late at night, and Falcon still hadn't returned. Luo Xi lay on the kang, tossing and turning. She didn't know how to face Falcon, let alone how to deal with her own complex emotions.
