Transmigrating into the only holy female in the interstellar world, the orcs who have no descendants
Chapter 380 How could I possibly like her?
The cold wind blew even harder.
Rosie hunched her shoulders. The temperature deep in the cave had dropped even further than it had been a few days before. She touched the worn hide on her body, and the chill seeped in through the cracks, giving her goosebumps.
"Hey."
The sound of a falcon came from the cave entrance. Luo Xi looked up and saw that he was holding an unknown object in his hand.
"Here you go." He threw the thing casually, and it hit Rosie's leg accurately.
Looking down, she discovered a new fur coat. She unfolded it, revealing it to be much thicker than her current one, with a layer of soft fur sewn on the inside. While the stitching was rough, each one was firmly placed, and the collar was even thickened.
"This is…"
"The cold season is coming." Falcon stood with his arms folded, his eyes drifting to the side, his lips tightly pursed. "If a frail female like you freezes to death, I'll have to collect your body. What a hassle."
Rosie's fingertips traced the seams of the cuffs. Rough but firm. Her mouth twitched. This guy was really tough.
"Thank you." Luo Xi put on the new clothes, and warmth immediately enveloped her whole body. "It's really warm."
Falcon snorted and turned away: "Don't thank me, Yu will kill me when he comes back and sees you frozen to death."
Luo Qian stared at his retreating figure, the corners of her mouth curling up unconsciously. This duplicitous fellow, fierce on the surface, but his actions betrayed all his pretenses.
"Did the falcon do it?"
Sisi's voice suddenly came from the cave entrance, scaring Luo Xi.
"Why are you here?" Luo Xi quickly straightened her clothes to hide the smile on her face.
"I'm here to bring you some berries. I picked them yesterday with the gathering team." Sisi walked in with a smile. Her eyes darted around Luo Xi's new clothes, surprise flashing in her eyes. "Wow! This is the hide of a ferocious beast."
Luo Xi wondered, "What happened to the hide of the beast?"
"The fur of fierce beasts is warm, but they are powerful and very difficult to deal with." Si Si leaned in and whispered, her eyes wide. "Usually, the tribe's hunting teams work together to hunt low-level fierce beasts. These furs must be handed in to the tribe for centralized distribution, and it takes a long time to accumulate contribution points to exchange for one." She paused. "And most people wouldn't exchange them for these. They save their contribution points for food."
"But Falcon is very powerful. This beast must have been hunted by him alone, so there's no need to hand it in." Si Si reached out and touched the texture of the hide, eyes full of envy. "Judging from the hardness of the fur, it must be a beast of at least level six."
Falcon raised his eyelids and frowned slightly: "Tsk! Who would want that kind of junky sixth-level stuff? This is the hide of a ninth-level beast."
Si Si was stunned, and the envy in her eyes instantly turned into shock.
Luo Xi blinked. Yu had given her green crystals from hunting ferocious beasts before, so ferocious beasts were nothing new to her. Now it seemed she didn't know what they were.
"Falcon is so nice to you." Sisi winked and lowered her voice but did not hide her feelings, "He really likes you."
Orcs are so direct that they can even do restricted acts in front of others, so naturally they say such things without thinking.
Falcon's face darkened instantly, and his brows furrowed: "What nonsense!"
Si Si was obviously a little afraid of him. Luo Xi wasn't afraid at all. She rolled her eyes and tugged at her new clothes: "I know you'll never like me. I'm not that self-indulgent."
Falcon suddenly fell silent, his brows slightly furrowed, and a hint of emotion flashed in his eyes that Rosie couldn't read.
The atmosphere suddenly became a little subtle.
Si Si's gaze flickered between the two men, a cunning glint in her eyes. She silently took two steps back and wisely left the cave.
"I'll go see if the collection team is back!" She said this and ran away, her movements as nimble as a slippery fish.
Only Rosie and Falcon were left in the cave. A cold wind blew in from the cave entrance, but it failed to dispel the subtle atmosphere.
Falcon kept silent with a sullen face. His handsome face was so gloomy that it looked like it could drip water. Rosie had long been accustomed to this kind of behavior and was immune to his sullen face.
"What's wrong with you? Are you hungry?" Luo Xi rolled her eyes and clapped her hands. "I'm going to cook for you today and make you a mushroom feast. I guarantee it's the most delicious you've ever had."
She busied herself, picking up the stone pot in the corner and humming an unknown tune. Falcon stared at her carefree expression, feeling an inexplicable tightness in his chest.
"Stupid female." He gritted his teeth, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from his chest.
Rosie didn't even raise her head, her hands didn't stop moving, and her laughter floated lightly into every corner of the cave.
"Yes, yes, I'm stupid. Falcon is the smartest in the world." She deliberately imitated his tone and placed the mushrooms on the stone slab. "Wise male, what do you think of this mushroom arrangement?"
Falcon's face was as black as the bottom of a pot. His brows were twisted into a knot, and a complex emotion flashed in his eyes, even he was unaware of it. He turned abruptly and strode out of the cave.
Luo Xi watched him walk away, shaking her head, her smile still lingering. This awkward fellow, tough on the outside but soft on the inside. She lowered her head and continued working on her mushroom feast, silently pondering tonight's ingredients.
Outside the cave, the wind howled. Falcon stood not far from the cave entrance, gazing at the darkening clouds on the horizon. His palms clenched and unclenched, his emotions more complex than the weather itself.
"Damn it," he cursed, punching the nearby stone wall. He hated females, especially this weak, incompetent, and crybaby type. She clearly knew nothing, yet she always acted fearless. What was even more annoying was that he actually started caring about this foolish female.
Falcon glanced back at the cave, where Rosie was still busily busy. He clenched his fists, his eyes filled with emotion.
"Yu, you bastard, you better never come back." He cursed softly and turned to walk deeper into the forest. He needed prey, he needed to vent, and he needed to calm himself down.
Rosie hummed a little tune in the cave as she arranged the various mushrooms according to their shapes and sizes. The vibrant colors of the mushrooms on the stone slab resembled a unique painting. She gazed at her masterpiece with satisfaction, yet a sense of emptiness lingered within her.
"This guy has such a bad temper," Rosie muttered to herself, remembering Falcon's expression when he left. His brows were furrowed, his eyes complex, even a little... hurt?
"I didn't say anything wrong." Luo Xi curled her lips and continued fiddling with the mushrooms on the slate. "You're always so sensitive, even more like a female than me."
After arranging the mushrooms on the slab, Rosie straightened up and rubbed her aching back. The wind in the cave grew stronger, suggesting rain was coming. She walked to the cave entrance and gazed into the distance. Falcon had long since disappeared into the dense forest.
"I hope he doesn't come back wet," Luo Xi murmured, suddenly realizing that her worry was unnecessary. Falcon was a Saint-level warrior, so a little rain was nothing.
The sky darkened, and a few raindrops began to fall. Rosie retreated to her cave and added more firewood. The firelight cast a soft shadow on her face. She suddenly remembered the way she had been before the rain left: his gentle eyes, his broad shoulders, and that reassuring presence.
"Yu, when will you come back..." she whispered softly, her eyes a little blurred.
The sound of rain grew louder, and outside the cave was already in chaos. Rosie leaned against the fire, her thoughts drifting away.
