Chapter 369 Yu was injured
The morning sun streamed in through the cave entrance. Rosie opened her eyes and found herself still lying on the familiar animal hide. She blinked, a sense of disharmony welling up in her heart.
"strangeness…"
She sat up and looked around, but couldn't tell what was wrong. The cave was still the same cave, the bonfire was still the same bonfire, everything was normal.
Luo Xi stretched and found that the rain was gone. He said last night that he would go into the Misty Forest with Falcon today. It seemed that he had set off early in the morning.
She walked to the cave entrance, the sunlight glaring at her making her squint. Outside, the water was calm, but even so, after what she had experienced before, she didn't dare wander around again.
In this place, danger can come from the sky even in your own cave.
"It seems I can only stay here honestly."
When Rosie returned to the cave, she discovered that Yu had prepared everything for her before leaving. There were pieces of grilled meat by the fire, ready to be eaten after heating. A stone tray was filled with brightly colored, washed berries. Even the drinking horn cups were filled with fresh water.
She picked up a berry and put it in her mouth. The sweet and sour juice bloomed on the tip of her tongue. Rosie couldn't help but smile, and a warm feeling spread in her heart.
“How thoughtful…”
This feeling of being cared for was so unfamiliar. In her previous family, she had never enjoyed this kind of treatment. Her partial parents would only let her wash the fruit and feed it to her younger brother. If she stole a bite, she would be beaten.
Rosie bit into a berry, her thoughts drifting back to Blue Star. That so-called "home" felt more like a prison to her. She was the family's cash machine, her brother's servant, yet she was never treated like a daughter who deserved love and care.
At night, Luo Xi heard heavy footsteps coming from the cave entrance. She quickly stood up, but her heart tightened the moment she saw who was coming.
Yu staggered into the cave, his silver hair drenched in sweat and plastered to his forehead. His right arm hung unnaturally at his side. By the firelight, Rosie could clearly see the horrifying wound on his arm—much larger than yesterday's, deep enough to reveal the bone. Even more terrifying, the edges of the wound were an abnormally black color, spreading outward like ink.
"Yu!" Luo Xi rushed forward and supported his shaking body.
Yu forced a smile, Ruifeng's eyes bloodshot. "It's okay, just a minor injury."
Luo Xi helped him sit down and gently tore open the hide covering the wound. As soon as the wound was exposed to the air, it emitted a rotten smell.
"How can this be a minor injury?" Rosie's voice trembled, her fingers hovering over the wound, not daring to touch it. The black substance at the edge of the wound was slowly wriggling, as if it had life. "What is this?"
Yu pursed her lips and turned her face away. "The toxins in the Misty Forest will heal in a few days."
Rosie wasn't stupid. She caught the flash of pain in Yu's eyes. "Don't lie to me. This isn't an ordinary toxin, is it?"
After a moment of silence, Yu finally spoke: "It's a curse."
"curse?"
"I must find a healing stone to suppress it," Rain said, her voice weak but firm.
"Then I'll go with you." Luo Xi said without hesitation.
"No." Yu shook her head, "It's too dangerous."
Luo Xi frowned: "Then let Falcon help you?"
"Falcon can't get into that place." Yu avoided her gaze, "Only I can go there."
"why?"
Yu didn't answer, but just sighed. In the light of the fire, Luo Xi noticed a flash of loneliness in Yu's eyes. He looked outside the cave and said softly, "Falcon will soon be promoted to the Saint level."
Luo Xi's heart moved. Yu said on the surface that he didn't care about strength, but his expression at this moment revealed his inner thoughts. He cared, but just didn't want her to worry.
"Yu, what are you hiding from me?"
Yu turned back and put her hand on her cheek. "Xixi, trust me, okay?"
Rosie held his hand, feeling the warmth from it. "So when are you going to find the healing stone?"
"Tomorrow," said the rain, "you will stay here, and the falcon will protect you."
"Falcon? He hates me." Rosie frowned.
"He doesn't hate you, he's just not good at expressing it." Yu smiled, but took a breath because of the pain on her wound.
Luo Xi quickly rebandaged his wound, her movements careful and gentle. She knew that Yu was hiding something from her, but pressing him now would only make him feel worse.
Late at night, Yu rested against the cave wall. Rosie sat beside him, listening to his gradually steady breathing, her heart churning. She gently touched the wound Yu had bandaged and felt a strange energy wriggling beneath her skin.
Curse? Healing Stone? How much does the rain hide?
The wood in the fire crackled softly. Rosie looked up at the cave entrance. The night was as dark as ink. She knew so little about this world, but she was certain of one thing—she couldn't lose Yu.
As soon as the sky was light, Yu got up and prepared to leave. Luo Xi opened her eyes and saw him packing a small animal skin bag with his back to her.
"Are you leaving?" she asked softly.
Yu turned around with a forced smile on his face. "Good morning, Xixi." He looked much better than last night, but his right arm was still stiff.
"Your injury—"
"It's okay." Yu interrupted her, "I'll be careful."
Rosie stood up and walked over to him. "At least tell me where the healing stone is."
"In a cave by the sea," Rain said, her tone unusually calm. "Only I can enter there."
"why?"
Yu was silent for a moment, and finally said softly: "Because only sea people are allowed to enter there."
"Sea Clan?" Luo Xi was stunned. "Are you from the Sea Clan?"
Yu didn't answer directly, but tied the animal hide bag around his waist. "I'll be back soon. In the meantime, don't stray too far from the cave. Falcon will come and take care of you."
When Rosie heard Falcon's name, her brows knitted unconsciously. She still remembered those eyes full of contempt and those harsh words.
"I can take care of myself." Rosie raised her chin, her voice stubborn.
Falcon happened to walk to the entrance of the cave. When he heard Rosie's words, his eyes flickered.
