Yu's expression instantly became alert. He gently pressed Luo Xi's wrist, signaling her to be quiet, while his other hand grasped the stone knife placed beside him.

The footsteps are getting closer.

Luo Qian held her breath, her heartbeat accelerating. The edge of the misty forest at night was already fraught with danger, not to mention that it was the orc mating season, and those stray beasts could appear at any time.

Yu slowly stood up and stood in front of Rosie, every muscle tense and ready to fight at any time.

The shadow at the cave entrance gradually lengthened.

Luo Qian stared at the growing shadow, beads of sweat forming on her palms. Could it be that the scorpion beast's companions had come seeking revenge?

"Yu, be careful." She reminded softly.

Yu didn't turn around, but just nodded slightly, his silver hair gleaming coldly in the firelight. His back was straight and firm, giving Luo Xi an inexplicable sense of security.

The shadow stopped at the entrance of the cave and slowly stretched out a hand.

"What smells so good? What delicious food are you eating?"

It was the sound of a falcon.

Luo Xi breathed a sigh of relief, her tense body instantly relaxing. However, the expression on Yu's face became complicated, somewhere between relief and dissatisfaction.

"Didn't you go to the Misty Forest?"

Falcon strode into the cave, his bronze skin glowing with health in the firelight. He looked at the barbecue on the stone slab without restraint, his eyes shining.

"I encountered two ninth-rank beasts. I couldn't defeat them, so I ran back," he said casually, waving his hand, but his eyes didn't move away from the barbecue. "Is this Jiujiu beast meat?"

Without waiting for an answer, he sat down, grabbed a piece of meat and put it into his mouth.

Before it reached her mouth, the meat disappeared and appeared in Yu's hands.

"If you want to eat it, go catch it yourself. I roasted it for Xixi." Yu stared at Falcon expressionlessly.

He looked down at the barbecue in his hand. Thinking that the meat had been grabbed by Falcon, Yu threw the meat into the fire with disgust and turned to Luo Xi: "Don't want this piece. I'll roast it for you later."

Falcon:......

The thigh muscles beneath his fur skirt tensed. Falcon touched his nose, a flicker of disdain in his eyes. Isn't she just a little female? Yu kept calling her "Sissi" all day long. Is she really that precious?

Too stupid.

Falcon glanced at Luo Xi. Females would only slow down the males' cultivation speed.

He felt the need to wake up his best friend.

"Yu, don't you think you're being foolish?" Falcon said straight to the point, his voice low and harsh. "You've been hanging around a female all day, and your cultivation progress has slowed down."

Yu paused, his hand still mid-air, preparing the barbecue. He didn't look up, but continued to concentrate on preparing food for Luo Xi.

"Is it your business?" Yu responded indifferently, her voice calm but sharp.

Falcon sneered, his bronze skin gleaming coldly in the firelight. He strode in front of Yu and looked down at him.

"You weren't like this before." Falcon's eyes were sharp. "There are so many opportunities to advance in the Misty Forest, but you didn't even try because you had to come back to accompany the females?"

Luo Xi put down the slate in her hand, feeling a little uncomfortable. She looked at Yu and found that his eyes had become complicated under his short silver hair.

"I have my choice." Yu's voice remained calm, but there was a hint of fluctuation in his eyes.

Falcon snorted disdainfully, his eyes sweeping across Luo Xi before returning to Yu: "Females will only drag you down. Look at you, you even gave up the chance to advance for a female."

Yu suddenly looked up, and a sharp light flashed in Ruifeng's eyes: "Enough."

"What? Did you hit a sore spot?" Falcon refused to back down, his voice becoming even more aggressive. "You once said you'd become the strongest warriors with me. Now, what? Are you being held hostage by a female?"

The atmosphere in the cave suddenly froze. Luo Xi found it difficult to breathe. She had never seen Yu like this before - his face became extremely cold, and his eyes were complicated and difficult to read under his short silver hair.

"Falcon..." Luo Xi couldn't help but speak, but Yu gently held her wrist.

Yu stood up and faced Falcon. The two tall figures cast long shadows in the firelight, as if sparks would fly at any moment.

"Don't worry about my affairs." Yu said word by word.

Falcon scoffed, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes, "You've changed, Yu. You gave up your pursuit for a female."

Yu didn't refute, but just looked at Falcon quietly. Luo Xi noticed that Yu's knuckles were slightly white, as if she was suppressing something.

"You can leave now." Yu finally spoke, her voice low and firm.

Falcon was stunned, obviously not expecting Rain to respond like this. His eyes darted back and forth between Rain and Rosie, and finally he laughed sarcastically: "You are such a loser, I look down on you."

"Have you said enough? If you have, then get out of my territory." Yu's voice turned cold, and a barely perceptible glint of anger flashed in Ruifeng's eyes.

The falcon straightened its back, its bronze muscles tensed in the firelight, like a cheetah ready to pounce.

"I haven't finished yet. You have to accompany me to the Misty Forest again and help me deal with those two ninth-level beasts... You owe me this!" He was aggressive, his voice firm and unyielding.

Yu took a deep breath, her expression cold as ice beneath her silver hair. "I understand. You can go now."

Falcon's gaze lingered on Yu for a moment, then swept over to Luo Xi, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. He turned and strode away, his back erect and proud.

The atmosphere in the cave was frozen. Rosie stared down at the slate in her hands. The aroma of the food had dissipated, leaving only a coldness.

Falcon's words echoed in her mind—"Females will only drag you down," "For a female, you gave up your pursuit." Every word was like a sharp stone, hitting her heart.

Was she a burden to Yu? Did Yu give up the chance to advance because of her? Luo Xi's heart sank, like a stone falling into the deep sea.

"Don't think too much." Yu's voice broke the silence. He sat down next to Rosie, his shoulder gently touching hers.

Luo Xi looked up and met Yu's gentle, phoenix-like eyes. The firelight danced on his short silver hair, outlining his handsome features.

"Is what Falcon said true?" Rosie asked softly, her voice trembling. "Am I really a burden to you?"

Yu reached out and gently stroked Luo Xi's cheek with his knuckles, feeling warm and rough. "Silly girl," he said in a low, doting voice, "This is my choice. It has nothing to do with you."

Rosie blinked and looked at him in confusion.

"I don't want to advance because I don't need to." Yu's hand slid to the back of Luo Xi's neck and kneaded it gently. "My current strength is enough to protect you. That's enough."

Luo Xi's heartbeat quickened, and her cheeks felt slightly hot. She lowered her head, not daring to look directly into Yu's eyes. "But, if you didn't have me, you could go deep into the Misty Forest and gain even greater power..."

Yu suddenly lifted Luo Xi's face and forced her to look directly into his eyes. Those bright eyes were filled with determination and tenderness.

"Listen, Sissi," he said, his voice low and firm, enunciating each word. "I don't care about advancement or power. I only care about you."

Rosie's heart skipped a beat, and she could feel the rain's breath on her face, warm and rapid.

She leaned in Yu's arms, closed her eyes, and felt the warmth coming from him. She knew that no matter what happened, Yu would be by her side, protecting her and accompanying her.

This realization made her feel inexplicably at ease and happy.

As the night deepened, the bonfire gradually died down, leaving only a few wisps of smoke that slowly drifted away in the air. Luo Xi leaned against Yu's arms and gradually fell asleep. Yu looked down at Luo Xi, who was sleeping soundly in his arms, with eyes so gentle that tears could drip from her eyes.

He gently placed Rosie on the animal hide, covered her with a blanket, and then sat beside her, quietly guarding her sleep.

Moonlight streamed through the hole, casting a soft silver glow on Luo Xi's sleeping face. As Yu looked at her peaceful sleeping face, an unprecedented desire to protect her surged in his heart.

He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair away from Rosie's face, his movements so gentle as if he was afraid of waking up a sleeping butterfly.

"Good night, my Sissi." Yu whispered, her voice full of tenderness and pampering.
