Spy Wars: Strong Agents Who Are Ruthless and Talk Little
Chapter 122 Large Desk
"The target is on the 18th floor of the hotel." Su Ming recalled the mission briefing in his mind while keeping an eye on the surroundings. He quickly walked along the corridor, reached the elevator, and pressed the button.
"You can't fail this mission," he said to himself. Despite appearing calm on the surface, Su Ming was constantly on guard, having long since grown accustomed to this kind of tension.
The elevator reached the eighteenth floor and the doors slowly opened. He glanced around, confirming the corridor was safe, and quickly approached the target room. However, just as he neared his target, he suddenly caught a faint sound.
It was the sound of footsteps, soft yet rhythmic. Su Ming stopped and quietly hid around a corner. His heartbeat quickened, but his breathing remained steady. He knew someone else might be approaching their target.
Sure enough, not long after, a tall figure appeared at the end of the corridor. The man, dressed in a dark suit, had a vigilant gaze and a steady pace. Su Ming narrowed his eyes; he could tell the man was professionally trained, his movements and reactions expertly executed.
"Competitor?" Su Ming guessed in his heart, his hand quietly moving towards the dagger at his waist.
The man stopped in front of the door of the target room, as if confirming something. Su Ming knew that the time had come and he had to act. Just as the man was about to open the door, Su Ming appeared silently behind him, the dagger approaching the man's neck like lightning.
"Don't move." Su Ming's voice was cold, without any emotion.
The man stiffened, but quickly regained his composure. He slowly raised his hands, signaling he had no intention of resisting. Su Ming stared at him intently, mentally calculating his next move. "Su Ming asked coldly," he said, the dagger still poised at the man's neck, ready to kill him with the slightest movement.
The man was silent for a moment, as if assessing the situation, and then he whispered, "We're in the same business. I'm here to look for this man, too."
A hint of surprise flashed across Su Ming's eyes. Although he had expected this, the other party's direct admission still made him feel a little relieved. "In the same industry? Which organization are you from?"
"It doesn't matter." The man's tone remained calm. "We can each complete our own tasks. There's no need to become enemies."
Su Ming pondered in his heart, but his expression remained calm. "Then what do you want to do?"
"Put down the dagger first, and then we will each take a step back." The man turned his head slightly, wanting to see Su Ming's expression.
Su Ming pondered for a moment before finally deciding to take a chance. He sheathed his dagger and took a step back, maintaining his distance. Seeing this, the man didn't move forward, but slowly lowered his hand.
"I can tell you that I'm just here to confirm some things. I don't intend to kill anyone," the man continued, a hint of relief in his tone. "We have common interests."
"Common interests?" Su Ming raised his eyebrows slightly, clearly skeptical of the idea. "Are you sure?"
"Of course." The man nodded, his eyes sincere. "This man has some information that we're all interested in. If you're willing, we can cooperate."
Su Ming did not agree immediately, as he knew that any credulity would be fatal. However, the current situation did require cooperation from both sides, especially since their target might have been targeted by other forces.
"Okay, we can cooperate temporarily." Su Ming finally made the decision, but he remained on high alert. "But if you do anything inappropriate, I will show no mercy."
"I understand." The man smiled faintly and nodded.
The two reached a temporary agreement. Su Ming gestured for the other to enter the room first, and he followed closely behind. The lights in the room were dim, and the air was filled with a faint smell of tobacco. Su Ming's eyes quickly scanned the room, and after confirming that there were no other ambushes, he relaxed a little.
The target man is sitting
Su Ming began to investigate the target company.
Su Ming stood in front of the Borri Group headquarters, looking up at the gleaming metallic structure, a complex wave of emotions welling up in his heart. This was another target since he disguised himself, but this mission seemed more complex and confusing than any previous ones.
"Borui Group... what are you hiding?" Su Ming muttered to himself, calming himself down before stepping into the building. He was a technical consultant, responsible for providing data analysis support for the company, and this was a perfect entry point for him to access the company's internal secrets.
During his first week at the company, Su Ming remained extremely low-key, carefully integrating into the daily work environment of the Borri Group. He knew that in order to uncover the truth, he had to first become part of the system and gradually approach his goal.
One afternoon, Su Ming was sitting at his desk, browsing a technical report when a colleague suddenly walked over to him and interrupted his train of thought.
"Su Ming, are you free? Director Li wants to see you." The colleague said softly, with a hint of urgency in his tone.
Su Ming looked up at his colleagues and nodded, but a flicker of doubt crossed his mind. Ever since he joined the company, Director Li Cheng had maintained a somewhat distant attitude towards him, neither paying him special attention nor completely letting down his guard. Today's sudden summons must have been for some reason.
"Okay, I'll go right away." Su Ming stood up, sorted out the documents on the table, and then followed his colleagues to Li Cheng's office.
There was a knock on the door, and Li Cheng's low voice came from inside: "Come in."
Su Ming pushed the door open and walked in. Li Cheng was sitting behind a large desk, holding a document in his hand with a serious expression. "You looking for me?" Su Ming asked calmly, with a hint of professional courtesy.
Li Cheng raised his head, his gaze lingering on Su Ming for a moment, as if assessing every nuance of his expression. "Su Ming, I heard you're doing well in data analysis, and the company is very pleased with your performance. It's an honor to work for the company," Su Ming replied calmly, but his heart grew even more alert. He knew this small talk wasn't just for show; something important was bound to happen next.
Sure enough, Li Cheng continued, "The company is currently working on a very important project, and we need technical experts like you to join us. This project involves the research and development of new high-tech products, and the confidentiality level is extremely high, so I hope you will consider it carefully."
Su Ming nodded slightly, showing a moderate amount of surprise and interest. "A new high-tech product? Can you tell me more about it?" He was obviously satisfied with Su Ming's reaction.
