Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa
Chapter 15 Friends
Brook was slaying monsters in the Xiangshi Ancient Tomb. He was currently level 23, with 8/35 experience points. It would take another four hours to level up.
Skeleton Baby Xiaobai is currently level 5. His name has changed from the original light blue to a darker blue. His attack damage is 10-37 and his health is 300. However, his defense and magic resistance remain unchanged at 10. Xiaobai is now the king of zombies, even against wild boars and scorpion snakes, and can fight two at once. Of course, this requires Brook to use healing skills nearby.
Strangely, the Corpse King on the first floor of the Incense Stone Tomb hadn't appeared again. Brook thought about it and realized that this Corpse King must have arrived with the Beast Tide, and there would be no Corpse King in the subsequent small-scale refreshes.
It was around 6: in the morning, and there weren't many otherworldly warriors around. Brook still seemed to be the only one inside the Xiangshi Tomb.
After an hour and a half, Brook, carrying the Demon-Subduing Sword and Xiaobai, fought their way from the first floor of the Xiangshi Ancient Tomb to the third floor. Then they heard the sound of fighting coming from the passage ahead.
Brook went over to see where four alien warriors were trapped in a corner by a group of over 4 monsters. There were three men and one woman: two warriors, a Taoist priest, and a mage. They were protecting the female mage in the far corner, where she was continuously casting lightning spells. One of the warriors was already wearing green armor, the heavy armor for a level 20 warrior. Brook had gotten several pieces of it while killing monsters, and it was available in the shop. The other three were still wearing light armor.
"++++++" the lightly armored warrior kept saying.
The Taoist priest hid himself, not even bothering to summon the skeleton baby beside him even though it had been shattered into pieces, and kept casting healing spells on the warrior to replenish his health. But it seemed that the health was still not increasing.
"I'm almost out of red potion, I can't hold on any longer..." the light armored warrior said anxiously. He was being hammered by two red boars, one of which might be an elite red boar with 2 HP.
It is estimated that these four people wanted to lure the monster into a corner and kill it together, but they obviously underestimated the strength of the wild boars. The Taoist priest should not be even at level 4 and does not know the collective invisibility technique.
"I was careless... I shouldn't have attracted monsters like that. We should kill them one by one." Seeing his teammates about to die, the heavy-helmeted warrior remained calm and said nonchalantly, "It's okay. We'll try again after we die."
At this moment, they noticed Brook in the distance. Brook raised his hand and waved it, and a talisman flew towards the light-helmeted warriors. With a bang, all four of them became translucent. The light-helmeted warriors were startled, thinking Brook was going to shoot him with a fire talisman, but it turned out to be a collective invisibility spell.
The surrounding monsters lost the scent of the four people and turned to walk towards Brook. So the four of them were safe.
"Thank you, my friend!" The heavy-helmeted warrior shouted to Brook across the herd of beasts with a smile.
Brook didn't respond, he was already engaged in a melee with the monster.
With their collective invisibility, the pressure on the four of them was instantly reduced. They remained in a corner, with the mage's lightning attack leading the charge. After luring the boar to the warriors, they all joined forces to kill it. It was a bit slow, but they were finally safe.
An elite red wild boar fell to the ground, and a top-quality Taoist bracelet emitting a faint light exploded. The heavy-helmeted warrior immediately picked it up.
Another elite black boar fell to the ground, and a top-quality skull ring with a faint glow dropped out, which was also picked up by the heavy-helmeted warrior.
The group quickly cleared out the 20 or so monsters. The four men emerged from the corner and approached Brook.
"Thank you so much for what we did just now. Without your collective invisibility, we might have died." The heavy-helmeted warrior named Hawking Hill expressed his gratitude to Brooke again.
"It's nothing, no thanks." Brooke responded calmly.
"My friend, you have such great equipment! Did you get them all here?" Hockingshan had obviously checked Brook's equipment.
"The equipment is okay, just average. It was given to me by a friend," Brooke replied.
"We came here early today, fought hard for an hour in the stone tomb, and then ran here to fight for another half an hour, but we didn't get any top-notch items." Boss Huo sighed.
Haha, you just picked up two top-grade items, and you thought I didn't see them? Brook thought to himself, Bayin's guess must be correct. These alien warriors really can't see the brilliance of top-grade equipment, otherwise this person wouldn't be so shameless as to lie to his face.
Ho Jinshan was still acting: "If only we had half the luck of your friend..."
"Do you want to team up? But there are no monsters here anymore, and it may take a long time for them to refresh." Hockingshan pretended to invite Brook to team up.
"Are you still waiting here for the refresh?" Brook asked.
"We're not at the right level, so let's just wait here. Buddy, you're so well-equipped, you can definitely fight monsters on your own. How about you go to the next floor and we stay here? Let's talk if anything happens." Hockingshan finally spoke his mind. He hoped Brook wouldn't stay on this floor.
"That's fine..." Brook smiled and agreed. This suited him perfectly. He figured the monsters on the second floor had already spawned, and he wanted to level up quickly. So he turned and headed back to the second floor of the Fragrant Stone Tomb.
After Brook left, Hocking Shan said coldly to Brook's back: "He's sensible."
Ye Xiaotian, the light-helmeted warrior next to him, asked in confusion, "Boss, he's so well-equipped, why don't you keep him?"
Huo Jinshan glared at Ye Xiaotian and said, "You also said that his equipment is so good. He killed half of the monsters in the last wave. There are only so many monsters on this floor. If he is added, we will have to kill half as many monsters as before. You should use your brain more!"
Ye Xiaotian lowered his head slightly, but couldn't help but raise his head to argue: "He is very powerful and just saved us. We should be able to be friends."
Huo Jinshan smiled and said, "That's right, you just heard it. I just called him a friend." Boss Huo patted Ye Xiaotian on the shoulder and said, "Brother, so-called friends are mutually beneficial. He just saved us once, and I was polite to him and suggested that he go to another level for his own good. But now that he's gone, he's of no use to me for the time being. If we meet again next time and find that he can be of use to us, then we can be friends again."
After saying that, he took out the top-grade Taoist bracelet with a Taoist skill of 0-2 that he had just picked up and handed it to the Taoist priest beside him: "Xiao Lin, this is yours. Remember, follow me, and I will not treat you unfairly."
"This place has such a good drop rate! I just arrived and I already got two top-grade items. Hehe." Huo Jinshan was determined to settle down on the third floor of the Xiangshi Ancient Tomb. "That Brooke's set of top-grade equipment probably dropped here too. Who would believe him if he said it was a gift from a friend?"
Brook arrived at the second floor. While the monsters here hadn't spawned many yet, it was more than enough for him to level up on his own. As for the drop rate, it was also very good on the second floor, on par with the third floor. Experience was the most important thing right now; leveling up was more important than top-tier equipment. Equipment in the 20s was always just a transition; it would inevitably become obsolete once it reached a higher level.
Brook went back and forth between the second and first floors of the Xiangshi Ancient Tomb, killing monsters. After another two and a half hours, he finally reached level 2 and was able to practice the third-level Soul Fire Talisman.
Brook looked at his current attributes: Level 24, Health 170, Magic 171, Taoism 4-16, Attack 8-16, Defense 8-17, Magic Defense 6-10, Accuracy 14.
Brook's short-term goal is level 26, because at level 26 he can practice the third level of summoning skeletons.
Brook practiced for another two hours, until noon. By then, people had trickled in from the Xiangshi Ancient Tomb, both individually and in groups. The monsters were becoming increasingly scarce. When Brook passed by, searching for monsters, some alien warriors would politely say, "Excuse me, make way, we're occupied." In some cases, the two groups would engage in physical combat over advantageous terrain.
Although Brook's Soul Fire Talisman had reached level 3, the monsters here were no longer able to spawn, and his leveling efficiency was declining. It seemed that there was no point in staying in this Xiangshi Ancient Tomb and he had to find another place to level up.
Brook used the return scroll to return to the earth city first, intending to clean out his backpack first and then go to the depths of the stone tomb to take a look.
Brook went to the store to sell the basic gear in his backpack and repair his full body armor. Passing by a weapons shop, he saw a pickaxe for mining and bought one. He wondered if mining could be done in Stone Tomb. If so, Bayin wouldn't have to travel so far to Serpent Valley.
Then he went to the warehouse to store some small, top-grade warrior equipment. He still had a snake-eye ring with magic 1-0 and a gold ring with magic 3-1 in his backpack. He could give them to Bayin next time he saw her, so he wouldn't have to go back to the warehouse again. Brook thought about it and realized that since he was going to explore the stone tomb, he might need random scrolls, so he took out two more bundles of random scrolls from the warehouse just in case.
After replenishing the amulet and torch, he went to buy medicine. As his level increased, Brook now used high-level potions.
The pharmacy in Tucheng was located near the south gate of Tucheng, close to the knife-wielding guards and not far from the square. The shouting and conversations nearby could almost be heard clearly.
"Little pig, stop practicing skeletons and follow me." A soft voice came from the direction of the guard.
"What are you doing? Where are you going?"
"I followed the Tyrant Boss to level up in the Viper Mine, and the Tyrant Boss discovered the Corpse King's Palace!"
"The Corpse King's Palace? A temple entirely dedicated to the Corpse King?"
"Yeah, it's full of bosses, all zombie kings!"
"No, really?"
"We were fighting a female mage, and as we were chasing her, the bed suddenly shook and she inexplicably fell into a room. It was said that it was full of zombie kings!"
"and after?"
"What happened next? The bed-shaking boss was a mage, and was instantly killed by the corpse kings. But he managed to escape back. Boss Tyrant is so amazing! He immediately guessed that this was the legendary corpse king palace. He also found the hidden entrance to the corpse king palace and is now asking everyone to gather there."
"Oh, you came out specifically to inform me?"
"...No, I was accidentally killed by that female mage and returned to the city. I asked you to come with me."
"Oh, then let's go to the Corpse King's Palace. I'll brag about your loyalty. I'll remember this friendship. By the way, which female mage is so powerful? How many people are on the opposite side?"
"There's only one, named Bayin. He's very high level, has several top-grade equipment, and his lightning skills are really powerful..."
When Brooke heard them mention the Corpse King Palace, he remembered that it was mentioned in Situ Haoyun's notes as a hidden map. However, he wasn't particularly interested; right now, he just wanted to level up. Then, hearing them mention Bayin, he immediately became alert. Seeing they were about to leave, he suddenly bought over 20 bundles of high-level potions and quietly followed the two people who were talking.
What are these two talking about, the domineering boss and the bed-shaking boss? Could they be the two people who were hacked to death by Xiao Xiami and me in Ginkgo Village? We're meeting again so soon.
When old friends meet, they shed tears and look back on the past with endless words.
