Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa
Chapter 16: Viper Mine
One of them, Ximen Chuichui, carried a steel fork, the level 15 mage weapon, the Sea Soul. The other, Captain Yangzhu, held the level 15 Taoist weapon, the Half Moon, trailed by a level 0 Skeleton. They ran northwest of Tucheng, arriving at a large, deep well. After speaking with a Marfa merchant named Lottery Agent, they vanished.
Bayin had mentioned this lottery agent. Brook also ran over to talk to him. According to the lottery agent, there is a passage in this deep well that can quickly reach the junction of Mengzhong and Viper Valley. However, to use it, you must pay 2000 gold coins.
Brook paid the money, and then, as if using a random teleportation scroll, he appeared on a grassland. He saw a deep valley, and this place was at the entrance of the valley, where four archers stood guard.
Brooke quickly caught up with Ximen Chuichui after seeing him and the other man enter the valley and then turn left and disappear.
There was a road to the left, and they followed it, winding and turning. On either side were steep cliffs and jagged rocks, surrounded by lush greenery and trees. The scenery was beautiful, but Brooke had no time to appreciate it. He just stared at the two people in front of him, afraid of losing them.
After running for five minutes, he saw the two slow down, turn left, and disappear. Brook followed them and saw that this was the entrance to the Viper Mine, with several mine carts parked at the entrance. So he followed them in.
It was pitch black inside, so I quickly lit a torch. The mine entrance was quite spacious, with a minecart track, more than one meter wide, leading deeper into the mine. There were no demonic beasts around. I guess there were a lot of people coming and going here, and the demonic beasts had been cleared out long ago.
Brooke looked ahead at the dim light of two burning candles. It was Ximen Chuichu and the others. They had bought candles for 11 gold coins each. While candles provided illumination, they only lasted 20 minutes each, were dim, and didn't illuminate very far. Torches, on the other hand, not only illuminated brighter and farther, but also lasted for over an hour. The downside was that, at 1 gold coins, they were more expensive. Clearly frugal, they walked more slowly in the dim candlelight.
Brooke took the opportunity to pull out his notes and look over the map of the Viper Mine. He'd already looked at it several times before, so he needed to recheck it. A quick glance had the topography memorized. Seeing the two men drifting further and further away, Brooke put away his notes and quickly followed.
The paths on both sides of the mine gradually narrowed, and the minecart track extended to a simple platform. On this platform stood some sturdy iron barrels, probably a temporary storage area for ore. The two people ahead reached a crossroads and turned right. They continued along a narrow passage about four people wide, winding their way forward.
At this point, sporadic zombies had already appeared in the passage. Ximen Chuichui and the other two were clearly not interested in fighting and were rushing to gather. After running for five minutes, they passed a three-way intersection, and then ran for more than a minute before finally slowing down.
Figures carrying candles and torches appeared one after another ahead, casting spells like lightning, fireballs, and soulfire charms, illuminating the area ahead. These people were clearly battling zombies. Brooke thought for a moment, extinguished his torches, donned his 3-5 defense light armor, and quietly followed behind.
Brooke had a feeling Bayin was still in the mining area. Seeing that she was higher level than Brooke and had chosen to come alone for the mining mission, it was clear that she was a fiercely independent, hardworking, and even a bit arrogant. She wouldn't return until she completed her mission. She wouldn't use a return scroll unless her survival was at stake.
Brook recalled the map in his mind. The Viper Mine had two floors, a vast expanse with complex terrain, and he had no idea where Bayin was. These alien warriors, however, had a clear map and knew their location at all times, so he simply followed them. First, he'd find the Corpse King's Palace. That was where Bayin had fought some overlord, and there might be clues to his whereabouts there.
The group was in a square, open area, with a large exposed mineral deposit in the center, a silvery glow visible on the surface. The group was gathered around the deposit. Brooke, tucked away in the darkness, slowly approached the group and could already hear their conversation. Most of them were using candles for lighting, so he couldn't see him for the time being.
"Everyone, wait here for a while. Boss Ba and the others will be back soon." A Taoist priest named Duzhan Yihongyuan, wearing a soul battle suit and holding a torch, said loudly to the crowd, "There are quite a few of us here. Let's form teams. I'll form one team, and the patrol team will form another."
There are about 20 people here, and each group has a maximum of 11 people, which is probably enough for 2 teams. The one who was named by the king to patrol the mountain is a level 22 male warrior. This group of people only have Yihongyuan and the king to patrol the mountain. The full 22 level, the rest of them are still light helmets.
"Okay, come join my group." The king asked me to patrol the mountain.
"Patrol boss, join me"
"Boss Yihongyuan, I want to join your team"
.....
"Boss, they are forming a team. I'm leaving the group first, come quickly." There seemed to be a spy in the crowd, notifying someone through the team chat. He left the original group and shouted, "Please join me."
Just as the group had formed, they saw several people running down the hallway. The leading warrior wore heavy green armor and carried the Shura, a level 22 warrior weapon. He was the same person they'd encountered in Ginkgo Village, who'd forced himself on them. Three others followed behind him, one of whom was the one who'd been rocking the bed that night. He was also level 3 and wearing a mage's robe. The other four wore light helmets.
"How is it? Was he killed?" asked Duzhan Yihongyuan.
The Overlord snorted coldly and said nothing.
"I chased her for two blocks, but she still ran away." I said that night as the bed was shaking.
"That woman is so annoying. We've been fighting for almost an hour, but she still refuses to admit defeat. It's endless. I guess she'll come again soon." Duzhan Yihongyuan said.
"It's better if she comes again!" the overlord said.
"Hehe, the boss has already made arrangements. The woman ran into a three-way intersection, and the boss arranged for Xiaoqiang and the other four to hide in another road. If that woman comes to harass us again, notify Xiaoqiang to encircle her from the back, and then we'll see if she can escape." The bed was shaking that night and he smirked.
"Boss, the zombie you mentioned hasn't spawned yet." Duzhan Yihongyuan said to Ba Wang.
"It will probably take another 10 minutes." Bawang Qiangshang looked at the time, then said to Duzhan Yihongyuan, "It's almost time. You can talk to them."
Duzhan Yihongyuan nodded, looked at the people around him, and said loudly: "Everyone listen carefully. In a while, a yellow-robed zombie will crawl out from the ground here. You will go in through the hole it crawled out of. Inside is the Corpse King Palace. Once you get down there, if there is a random fly, try to fly to the four corners of the Corpse King Palace. If there is no random fly, try to run to the corner. If you die, run back from the city and wait for the next yellow-robed zombie to refresh before going down again."
"I only have 1 random"
"No random, only 1 dungeon"
"I didn't bring anything, woooooo."
Everyone began to whisper.
Brooke's mind raced. The most important thing now was to rescue Bayin and not let her fall into the Overlord's trap. As for whether to go to the Corpse King Palace to take a look, or whether to fight with the Overlord and his men, that was secondary and would be decided after reuniting with Bayin.
Brook calculated his current position based on the map he remembered. From a small perspective, everyone's current position was at 6 o'clock on a clock. The "fork in the road ahead" mentioned by the bed shake was approximately 2 o'clock. Brook could make a large clockwise circle and run to 2 o'clock, which should lead him to Bayin.
Brooke slowly backed away. Once he reached a corner, he was out of sight. He lit a torch and ran clockwise toward 2 o'clock. It was a long distance, but Brooke estimated it would take about eight minutes.
The zombies were scattered along the road, moving slowly. Before they could even get close, Brook had already bolted past. Occasionally, a few otherworldly warriors came along to slay zombies, but Brook merely glanced at them, saying, "Just don't call them Xiaoqiang." The otherworldly warriors watched in amazement as Brook sprinted by, a blue mutant skeleton suddenly appearing behind him, and they were all a little frightened. But as long as Brook didn't steal their monsters, it would be fine.
Soon, they reached the 2 o'clock intersection. But they didn't see the four ambushers, including Xiaoqiang, whom Tiaoyao had mentioned. Brookton had a bad feeling. He thought Bayin might have already entered the intersection and been ambushed.
Brook changed into his Soul Suit as he ran, and added a Ghost Shield, increasing his Magic Defense to 5-15. He ran through the fork in the road and ran clockwise towards the 6 o'clock direction without hesitation.
I didn't run far before I came upon a narrow area crowded with four people and two skeleton babies. Two warriors and one skeleton stood in the front, while two Taoist priests and one skeleton stood behind them, forming two rows that completely blocked the path. All four wore light armor, and upon closer inspection, I noticed their names were very similar, including one named "Xiao Qiang, Who Can't Be Crushed."
That's them.
Brook suddenly rushed out from behind, targeting the unstoppable cockroach standing in the back row. He raised his hand and cast a red poison, increasing the opponent's attack damage by 20%. He also cast a green poison, causing the opponent to lose 2.5 point of health every 1 seconds for about 30 seconds. Then a soul fire symbol flew over, and he ran in front of the cockroach. He cast Summon Skeleton, summoning the level 5 Xiaobai from behind to his side, and attacked the cockroach together.
Xiao Qiang and his gang, who couldn't be crushed, received the news from Overlord and began blocking the road. Knowing the formidable female mage was approaching, their attention was focused on the front. Unexpectedly, a Taoist priest suddenly appeared from behind and attacked, leaving them all a little confused. It wasn't until Brook was almost close that Xiao Qiang realized what was happening, still wondering: Who is this? Do we know each other? Why is he hitting me? Is wearing a level 22 professional outfit a big deal? Can't he see there are four of us?
The unstoppable Xiaoqiang is a level 20 Taoist priest with decent gear, including three minor top-tier items: a Taoist 3-1 Half Moon weapon, a Taoist 2-0 bracelet, and a Taoist 2-0 pearl ring. The rest are common store items. The other three are not as good as him, all only level 3, with two warriors and one Taoist priest. While not particularly strong, the four form a standard warrior-Taoist combination, with the warriors in the front and the Taoist priests in the back providing health. They were purposely placed by the Overlord to block the road so that Bayin wouldn't electrocute them in just two or three hits.
The four of them then began to counterattack Brook. However, the two warriors, standing in the front row, were blocked by the skeletons and Taoist priests in the back row. They couldn't get through immediately, and had to wait for the Taoist priest and his skeletons to move out of the way. Xiaoqiang wasn't stupid either. Under Brook's attack, he didn't fight back, but instead cast a healing spell on himself. Although he was surrounded by the mine wall and his own skeletons behind him, preventing him from running, he only needed to hold out for a while, and his teammates could surround and kill Brook.
Brook's first Soul Fire Talisman landed on Xiaoqiang, who visibly stumbled backward, seeing his health bar slashed, down to 28 points. "This kid's pretty tough," Xiaoqiang thought, immediately casting a Heal spell on himself and then poisoning Brook. Meanwhile, Brook's blue mutant skeleton also emerged, slashing at Xiaoqiang with an axe, reducing his health to 32 points. Damn, this skeleton is tougher than a human.
Another level 19 Taoist priest cast a Fire Talisman at Brook, but his equipment was ordinary, and his Taoist magic was only 3-7. The fire talisman didn't even damage Brook, and it didn't even break Brook's magic defense. Then he heard the two warriors behind him urging him to make way, and realized that he had to quickly get out of the way. However, the skeleton baby was still resting in the same place, forgetting to control it, and still blocking the road.
At this time, Brook's blue skeleton chopped out another axe, 30 points of health, damn, this skeleton's attack speed is so fast, Xiaoqiang quickly drank the intermediate gold wound medicine. Brook's second soul fire talisman also hit Xiaoqiang, and Xiaoqiang's health dropped another 27 points. No, he can't hold on any longer, and wanted to run, but his retreat was blocked.
"Get out of the way! Give me some blood!" Xiao Qiang yelled. He had used up all his solar water in the fight with Bayin.
The two warriors had originally intended to rush over to help from the space left by the Level 19 Taoist priest, but after Brook's series of actions, Xiaoqiang was already at low health. They quickly stepped back to make way for Xiaoqiang. The Level 19 Taoist priest stopped attacking Brook with fire talismans and used healing magic to heal Xiaoqiang.
Skeleton Baby Xiaobai's third axe landed, dealing 34 HP. Damn, that much damage! Is this a skeleton? Is this a Gundam? Scared, Xiaoqiang turned and ran. Just as he took a step, Brook's third Soul Fire Talisman exploded on him, dealing 25 HP. He couldn't crush Xiaoqiang, and he was killed.
The unsqueezable Xiaoqiang, a level 20 Taoist priest with 131 HP, was killed by Brook in just three rounds. Of course, if you include the poison, it was five rounds. The whole process, including the time it took Brook to run to Xiaoqiang, took less than 5 seconds.
Xiaoqiang's three teammates were stunned and angry. They rushed forward to fight against the man who was trying to kill our brother Qiang in front of them.
The two warriors finally closed in, one wielding the level 15 Eight Desolations Blade, the other the level 19 Lingfeng Sword. They attacked with their newly learned level 0 warrior skill, still at level 19, and roared, slashing at Brook. But perhaps due to a lack of power, or perhaps the roar was a bit weak, they barely managed to break Brook's defense, taking 4 and 5 HP, respectively, even though Brook was already inflicted with the Red Poison.
The two poor warriors, wearing ordinary equipment, with a total attack attribute of only about 10-19, hit Brook with a defense of 10-17, and really could only do this little damage. They tried their best, so it's really hard to blame them.
Brook took two steps back to avoid being surrounded by three people against the wall. He ordered Xiaobai to attack another level 3 Taoist priest, and he cast poison spell himself, followed by Soul Fire Talisman.
At this moment, a torch light appeared in front of them. The red-named Bayin was running towards them. Behind her, a large group of people followed. The leader, holding the axe Shura, shouted at Brook's group, "Xiao Qiang, block it!"
"............." Xiaoqiang, lying on the ground, sighed silently, "I'm sorry, boss..."
It’s not that our army didn’t try hard, but the enemy has Gundam.
