Years turn into wind

The storm subsided, and a modicum of peace finally returned to the Marshal's residence. Although Ling Xiaotian was busy reorganizing his troops, he often found time to return home and spend time with Cheng Yuwei. While each had their own responsibilities, their relationship grew stronger through mutual support and trust.

One night, Ling Xiaotian returned home after finishing his work and found Cheng Yuwei still in the study, looking tired. He walked over, gently rubbed her shoulders, and whispered, "Yuwei, it's late, go get some rest."

Cheng Yuwei looked up and saw a trace of concern between his brows, so she put down the book in her hand and said with a smile: "Okay, but I'm almost able to figure it out."

Ling Xiaotian shook his head, gently pulled her up, and said, "You've been working too hard for too long. There's no need to force yourself. Come, I'll take you somewhere."

Cheng Yuwei was slightly startled, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes, but she let him hold her hand and followed his steps. Ling Xiaotian led her through the corridor, into the back garden, and to a more secluded pavilion.

The night breeze was cool, and the fragrance of flowers filled the garden. Ling Xiaotian slowly released her hand and whispered, "This is a beautiful view. I've always wanted to come here with you to see it."

Cheng Yuwei looked around, noticing the garden's flowers and plants, especially beautiful in the night. She leaned gently against the pavilion's railing, quietly gazing at the night scene before her, a rare sense of tranquility welling up in her heart. Ling Xiaotian walked over to her, draped his coat over her shoulders, and whispered, "Don't catch a cold."

Cheng Yuwei looked at him gratefully and smiled, "Xiaotian, I didn't expect you to be so considerate." Although the words were teasing, her tone was full of tenderness.

Ling Xiaotian did not respond. He looked at her with gentle and deep eyes, slowly approached her, and whispered: "Yuwei, I hope that no matter what happens, you can stay by my side."

Cheng Yuwei was deeply attracted by his gaze, her heart throbbing as she nodded gently. Ling Xiaotian's hand caressed her face, and he slowly leaned over and kissed her tenderly. The two of them embraced in the night, forgetting the turmoil of the outside world.

At this moment, the sound of light footsteps broke the silence. Ling Xiaotian immediately became alert and pulled Cheng Yuwei aside. One of his men hurried over. Seeing the two of them, he immediately lowered his head and said, "Marshal, we have important information!"

Ling Xiaotian's eyes turned cold, but he quickly regained his composure and said in a deep voice, "Go to the study."

The two hurried back to the study, and a servant handed over a secret letter. Ling Xiaotian opened it and read it carefully, his brows gradually furrowed. Seeing his expression, Cheng Yuwei couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Did something serious happen?"

Ling Xiaotian raised his head, his eyes cold, and whispered, "The spies we just captured aren't the real ones behind this. This person's movements are cryptic, perhaps he's here for a bigger plan."

Cheng Yuwei's heart suddenly tightened, and she calmly analyzed, "Their target isn't just you. I'm afraid there's a bigger plan behind it. Perhaps they intend to use your power to achieve some ulterior motive."

Ling Xiaotian nodded, a look of determination in his eyes. "Whatever their plan is, I won't let them succeed. I'll send people to strengthen the defense and make sure to find this person."

A few days later, Ling Xiaotian and his men conducted a series of investigations. However, the enemy seemed well prepared, acting covertly and leaving no clues. Just when everyone thought they had no way to proceed, Cheng Yuwei spotted a clue from a map.

She placed the map on the table and pointed to an area. "This was once an enemy hideout," she said to Ling Xiaotian. "The traffic is complex, making it ideal for ambush and surveillance. If they truly wanted to plot something big, they'd likely plant spies here."

Ling Xiaotian's eyes lit up after hearing this, and he praised, "You're really smart, to have thought of this. Okay, I'll send someone over to investigate immediately."

That night, spies reported that they had indeed spotted suspicious activity in the area. Ling Xiaotian led a secret roundup, successfully capturing several enemy spies. After interrogation, they learned that the enemy had been planning a large-scale assassination operation to disrupt the situation.

Ling Xiaotian sneered and said, "I want to see what other tricks they have." He took the captives back home and integrated the intelligence one by one.

Cheng Yuwei also secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that Ling Xiaotian had acted decisively and successfully resolved the crisis. However, she had not anticipated that the commander behind the enemy would not stop there, but instead plotted an even more sinister next move.

In the dead of night, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian analyzed enemy intelligence together in the mansion. Their tacit understanding and discussion gradually led them to a bold hypothesis: perhaps the enemy was backed by a powerful, unknown force, potentially even affecting a wider area.

Ling Xiaotian was silent for a moment, then said firmly, "No matter who they are, if they dare to threaten my territory and my people, I will definitely not show mercy."

Cheng Yuwei looked at him, feeling both admiration and emotion. She whispered, "Xiaotian, no matter what decision you make, I will support you." Ling Xiaotian held her hand, his eyes filled with tenderness and determination. "Yuwei, having you by my side makes me more determined. No matter how difficult the road ahead, I will protect you."

When the two looked at each other, they understood each other, as if they had found an unshakable trust and dependence in these turbulent times.

However, the enemy far in the shadows has not stopped its actions. A new conspiracy has been quietly unfolding, like a silent shadow, quietly approaching them...
