Three Women in the Cage

Chapter 40: Unfulfilled

After dinner, Yang Yu went to bed early. To prevent her mother from coming in to ask about her younger sister, she locked the door. However, when the night was still, her mother knocked on Yang Yu's bedroom door, her voice filled with worry: "Yu'er, is my younger sister back?"

Yang Yu lay in bed, feeling a little nervous as she listened to her mother's knock on the door. She glanced at the empty space next to her where her younger sister usually slept, but now it was empty. She hesitated for a moment, then replied calmly, "Mom, my younger sister came back early and is asleep now. If you have anything to say, let's talk tomorrow morning."

Mother Yang muttered to herself outside the door in some confusion: "Little girl, what time did you come back? Why didn't we hear any sound?" Then she turned around and went back to her room.

Yang Yu breathed a sigh of relief only after her mother's footsteps faded away. However, her dissatisfaction with her younger sister grew stronger and stronger. She could not come home so late even when she was at home, and she did not know how late she would come back at other times. She secretly thought that she must teach her younger sister a lesson when she came back. It was simply too outrageous.

In this way, Yang Yu stayed awake with her eyes open, half asleep and half awake, until the sky began to turn red. There was no sound from outside the bedroom, and finally Yang Yu accepted the fact that her younger sister had not returned all night.

Suddenly there was some noise outside. Before I could hear clearly, I heard Yang's father's scolding, "What? You are willing to come back? Do you think I don't know that you came in through the back door? I have been waiting for you here today."

"Dad, listen to me...ah", before Yang Su could explain, a long stick hit her body, making her scream in pain.

"Hey, don't hit the child. Let's talk it over nicely," Yang's mother pulled Yang's father with some reluctance, and asked her little daughter to go back to the house and clean up.

Father Yang was pulled back, and he was also furious and scolded, "Next time, sneak out and stay out all night? I can't control you anymore. I will agree to the Liu family's proposal tomorrow, so that you won't give up. I'm telling you, it's impossible for you and that kid to be together!"

When Yang Yu looked up, he saw his little sister running in with tears on her face. He waved to her with some heartache and asked her to come over.

"Why are you out all night again? I told Mom you were home last night, but they were waiting for you at the back door." Yang Yu stroked the mark on her little sister's arm and sighed, "Didn't I tell you to come back at night and not just stay at the man's house? Why don't you listen?"

"Sister, please stop talking, wuwu..." Yang Su was feeling aggrieved and sad. After choking for a while, she reluctantly said, "It's not that I want to stay out all night. Yesterday, Brother Chi said he missed me and hadn't seen me for several days. He wanted to take me to a place to have fun. As a result, I didn't pay attention to the time and came back too late. Brother Chi was worried, so he let me stay for one night. I rushed back early in the morning, but I didn't expect that my parents were still there waiting for me."

"Are you still feeling wronged? He asked you to stay one night, and you stayed one night. Don't you have a brain? You're still an unmarried girl. Did he ever think about your reputation?"

Yang Yu really felt that this boy was unreliable. He didn't consider his younger sister's perspective at all. He was just a selfish person. She didn't know why her younger sister was so stupid as to go up to him without caring about anything.

But now seeing her aggrieved look, he was too lazy to say anything to her. "I don't care about you. There are still my parents. Dad just said that he is ready to agree to the Liu family's proposal. I think the boy from the Liu family is not bad. Why don't you agree to it? Anyway, there is no result for you two. It's not a solution to waste time like this." Yang Yu continued to say with a depressed look.

"Oh, elder sister, please stop bothering me. I don't like anyone except Brother Chi. If Dad dares to agree to the marriage proposal, I will never come back," Yang Su said angrily.

Seeing the angry Yang Su, Huan Huan walked up to her, took her hand and said, "Auntie, don't be angry, Huan Huan will give you some candy." Then she pulled Yang Su's hand away and stuffed the candy into her hand. Huan Huan didn't want to see her auntie angry. She liked her auntie taking her out to play, and she was happy every day.

"Hanhuan is so good to me. Your aunt's love for you is not in vain." Yang Su couldn't help but smile. He touched Huanhuan's head and felt relieved.

Yang Yu saw her daughter's flattery and knew that she liked her aunt. She had not been liked by her father, grandparents, and uncles since she was a child, so when she came here and found that so many people liked her, she cherished it very much. She didn't want to lose the love she had longed for.

Yang Yu blinked and looked at the aunt and nephew, her heart softened. As long as her family was happy, she would let everything else take its course.

Yang Su's father and mother locked her in the bedroom and would not let her take a single step out. Yang Su had no choice but to stay in the bedroom with her elder sister and niece. She wanted to wait until her parents calmed down, and then find some time to sneak out to look for Brother Chi.

But the next day, when Old Liu really came to the house with his youngest son, she realized that what Yang's father said yesterday was not a joke. She paced back and forth in the room anxiously.

"Don't worry, it's just a proposal, not a marriage," Yang Yu comforted.

"Eldest sister, how can I not be anxious? I'm afraid that Brother Chi will find out and come to find me. What if he then has a conflict with my parents? He will misunderstand," Yang Su was obviously a little anxious.

"Since he cares about you, he should consider your future. You also said that his parents are unwilling to cancel the engagement, nor are they willing to propose marriage for you. If you keep wasting time like this, you will be the one who suffers. It's a good opportunity to part ways amicably and find a suitable family for you."

"No, elder sister, you have to help me. Tell my parents that I don't want anyone else except Brother Chi." Yang Su held her elder sister's hand and looked at her with tears in her eyes.

Seeing how worthless his younger sister looked, Yang Yu was speechless, but he still had to fight for her.

When Yang's mother came in to bring Yang Yu food, Yang Yu tried to test her, "Mom, Dad really wants to agree to the Liu family's proposal?"

"Who can influence your father's decision? The Liu family lives in our village and we know them well. If your younger sister marries there, we can take care of her. But if you marry far away, we won't be able to help you if something happens," Yang's mother sighed.

"I know Susu can't forget that boy for a while, but as time goes by, she will know that parents will not harm their own children. With your lesson, your father and I will not be careless about my little sister's marriage."

"That boy is not suitable for you, little sister. If you can't control him, you will suffer in the future," Yang's mother said earnestly. She knew that Yang Su, who was hiding nearby, could hear it.

At dinner time, Yang Su was called out and sat with the others. The youngest son of the Liu family had always liked Yang Su, but Yang Su looked down on him and always ignored him. He did not expect that Yang's father would agree to the marriage proposal this time. He was so excited that he looked at Yang Su without blinking.

Yang Su was burned by his fiery gaze and had to look up and glare at him. She really disliked this man, but even though he was glared at, he continued to stare at her without caring.

In the end, it was Liu's father who pulled his son and gave him a warning with his eyes, which made him restrain himself. Throughout the whole process, except for the two fathers who drank happily and Liu's son who couldn't hide his joy, everyone else had no appetite.

After Yang Su was unable to resist his father's decision, he chose to remain silent, and then this dinner confirmed their marriage.
