The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm

Chapter 48: Cooperation to Defeat the Enemy

Cooperate to repel the enemy

Within these crumbling ruins, the world seemed shrouded in the shadow of doom. The energy of the magic circle roared like a maddened beast, its force trembling more violently with each impact. Huge rocks crashed down from above, raising clouds of dust.

Carl's eyes revealed an unprecedented seriousness. He took a deep breath and shouted at Victor: "Victor, you idiot! If we continue to fight like this, we will all be buried here. No one can get the ancient books, let alone leave alive!" His voice was like a loud bell in the roar, clearly reaching everyone's ears.

Victor's brow furrowed, a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. Though he was filled with greed and yearned for ancient silence, the threat of death hung like an icy sword over his head, impossible to ignore. "Hmph, Carl, don't think I'll trust you so easily." Victor's tone remained firm, but a hint of softening appeared in his voice.

"Do you think I'm kidding? Look around!" Carl pointed angrily at the crumbling walls and the space about to be swallowed by energy. "We're running out of time. Only by working together to stabilize the magic circle can we have a chance of survival."

Victor was silent for a moment, then finally gritted his teeth and said, "Okay, I'll trust you for once. But if you dare to play any tricks, I won't let you go."

Both sides paused their attacks, the atmosphere still tense as a drawn bowstring. Each gripped their wand tightly, their eyes filled with vigilance, their bodies trembling slightly, perhaps from exhaustion from the fierce battle or from wariness of each other.

"Everyone be careful and do what Carl says first." Victor shouted to his men with a hint of reluctance in his voice.

"Hmph, you guys, stop holding us back." Tom muttered softly, but still approached the magic circle with his teammates.

"Tom, don't talk nonsense. Now is not the time to be angry." Lucy glared at him, her eyes full of worry. She knew that this fragile cooperation could break down at any time, and they had to remain vigilant at all times.

Carl and Victor stood on both sides of the magic circle, looking at each other, their eyes filled with complex emotions.

"We need to inject magic power into the key nodes of the magic circle and try to restore its stability." Carl said loudly, his eyes quickly searching the magic circle, looking for the places emitting the strongest energy fluctuations.

"I know. I don't need your command." Victor responded impatiently. He also began to observe the magic circle and winked at his men, asking them to pay attention to the actions of Carl and others.

Both sides began to carefully channel magic power into the magic circle, the rays of magic intertwining like colorful threads weaving through the air. However, each injection of magic power was like taming a ferocious beast, and the magic circle would suddenly erupt with a powerful energy rebound, shaking everyone.

"Ah! This thing is harder than I thought." Jerry was knocked back a few steps by a wave of energy and sat down on the ground, looking miserable.

"Jerry, are you okay?" Lucy quickly reached out and pulled him up. "Be careful, this is not a joke."

"I'm fine, it's just that this magic circle is too naughty." Jerry patted the dust off his body, trying to ease the tense atmosphere.

On the other side, one of Victor's men accidentally injected too much magic power, causing a violent fluctuation in the magic circle.

"You idiot! Control your magic." Victor roared, his face becoming even gloomier.

"I'm sorry, boss, I... I will pay attention." The subordinate's face was full of horror, and beads of sweat the size of beans kept rolling down his forehead.

With the continuous injection of magic power, the fluctuations of the magic circle gradually showed some signs of easing, but the tension between the two sides still did not dissipate.

"Karl, are you sure this will work?" Victor shouted at Karl while channeling his magic power. "If you kill us all, I won't let you go even if I become a ghost."

"I don't want to die more than you do, Victor. We can only believe in this method now." Carl responded, his eyes fixed firmly on the magic circle, and beads of sweat on his forehead.

During this process, people on both sides kept a close eye on each other's every move. Tom whispered to the classmate next to him, "These guys have bad intentions. We have to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't take advantage of the opportunity to cause trouble."

"Yeah, I think so too. We can't let our guard down." The classmates responded in a low voice, their eyes occasionally sweeping over Victor and the others.

Suddenly, the magic circle became unstable again, this time even more violent than before, as if issuing a final resistance to their efforts. A powerful energy gushed out from the magic circle, sweeping towards everyone.

"Everyone, be careful!" Carl shouted, quickly casting a shield spell, and a golden curtain of light unfolded before them. Victor also cast a dark shield, interweaving black magic with golden light, barely blocking the energy wave.

"What the hell is going on? Aren't we already stabilizing it?" Victor roared angrily, a hint of panic in his eyes.

"There must be some key point we haven't noticed." Carl frowned, his brain working fast, trying to find a solution to the problem.

At this moment, the ancient book, under the impact of the magic circle's energy, once again emitted a soft light. Carl's eyes lit up, "Ancient book! The ancient book must be the key. We need to use the ancient book to guide the balance of magic power."

"Are you crazy? Putting the ancient book in this dangerous magic circle, what if it gets destroyed?" Victor objected loudly.

"If we don't do this, we will all die, and the ancient books will be buried here forever." Carl looked at Victor firmly, without a trace of retreat in his eyes.

After a brief and intense ideological struggle, Victor gritted his teeth and said, "Okay, I'll do as you say, but if anything goes wrong, you will be fully responsible."

Carl carefully picked up the ancient book and walked towards the center of the magic circle. Each step he took was extremely difficult, as if he were standing on an abyss. The surrounding energy fluctuations constantly impacted him, but he held the ancient book tightly, as if holding on to his last hope.

When Carl placed the ancient book in the center of the magic circle, the light from the book shone brightly, resonating with the energy of the magic circle. The previously violent magic circle seemed to be soothed, and the energy fluctuations gradually stabilized. The chaotic energy began to flow in an orderly manner along the direction guided by the ancient book.

"Success!" Carl's teammates shouted excitedly, with smiles of survival on their faces.

"Don't be too happy too soon. We still have to see if the magic circle is completely stable." Victor said coldly, but the tension in his eyes was obviously relieved a lot.

Under everyone's gaze, the magic circle's light gradually returned to normal, and the energy ceased its rampant destruction. The ruins' collapse ceased, leaving the surroundings in ruins, but everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as everyone let down their guard, a sinister glint flashed in Victor's eyes. He raised his wand and shot a black rope of energy towards the ancient book at the center of the magic circle. "The ancient book is mine. All of you, die!" Victor laughed grimly, his laughter particularly harsh in the ruins that had just quieted down.

Like a swift black python, the energy rope sped towards the ancient book. Carl reacted quickly, shouting, "Victor, you vile villain!" He then quickly cast a spell. A golden wall of light rose in front of the ancient book, blocking the energy rope. The energy rope collided with the wall, sending up a shower of magical sparks.

"Hmph, I knew you would use this trick." Tom roared and rushed towards Victor, with flames spewing out of the wand in his hand, "Taste my wrath, you traitor!" The flames swept towards Victor like a roaring fire dragon.

"Don't try to stop me." Victor waved his hand, and his men attacked Carl and the others. Suddenly, the magical light illuminated the ruins once again, and the two sides fell into a new melee.

Lucy quickly came to Carl's side and said, "We have to protect the ancient books and not let him succeed." She cast frost magic, and sharp ice cones shot towards Victor's men. The ice cones emitted a biting chill during the flight, freezing the approaching enemies one after another.

Jerry cast wind magic, creating a powerful air current to disrupt the enemy's attacks. "You guys are as annoying as flies," he chanted, manipulating the air currents to deflect the enemy's attacks.

Carl stared at Victor. "You think you can get the ancient book like this? You're too naive." He cast his magic again, and golden rays shot out from his wand, flying towards Victor. These rays were like sharp arrows, shooting at Victor with precision, forcing him to dodge repeatedly.

Victor was furious. "You will all pay for your foolishness." He cast a powerful dark spell, and the air around them turned pitch black. Countless pairs of glowing red eyes loomed in the darkness, as if demons were watching. These demons pounced on Carl and the others, their fangs and claws bared, a terrifying sight.

"Don't be afraid, everyone! Attack together!" Carl shouted, concentrating his magic power and casting a ranged attack spell. A dazzling white light burst out from his wand, and wherever the light reached, the demons dissipated.

In the fierce battle, both sides unleashed their full might. At the center of the magic circle, the ancient tome emanated a mysterious light, as if watching the conflict it had ignited. This new crisis plunged everyone into a life-or-death struggle, and the fate of the tome would determine the ultimate outcome.

However, none of them noticed that the magic circle began to undergo some subtle changes under the impact of their battle, as if a greater crisis was quietly approaching.
