The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 41 The Mysterious Guardian
Mysterious Guardian
They continued deeper into the ruins along the unknown passage, each step akin to treading on the strings of fate. The tense atmosphere, like sticky glue, tightly enveloped everyone. Just then, a series of heavy footsteps shattered the silence, like the roar of ancient war drums, echoing from the depths of the passage, each one striking hard on everyone's heart.
"What's that sound? It doesn't sound good." Tom huddled close to Carl, his eyes wide as bells, his voice trembling.
"Everyone be careful, something's happening!" Carl whispered. He gripped his wand tightly, a hint of vigilance flashed in his eyes, and he stared intently at the direction where the sound came from.
As the footsteps drew nearer, a group of mysterious guardians emerged. These guardians, like knights from ancient legends, stood tall and majestic. They were clad in armor radiating a mysterious light, intricately engraved with runes. These runes shimmered with a faint blue light, as if telling stories of ancient times. Each guardian rode an equally mysterious warhorse, its hooves treading the ground, sending up tiny sparks of magical energy.
"Wow, they look pretty cool. It would be great if I could take a photo with them. Maybe I could become the most popular person in the college." Tom muttered softly, but his body was honestly hiding behind Carl, with only his head showing.
"It's already late, and you're still thinking about taking a photo. Save your life first!" Lucy rolled her eyes at him, the wand in her hand ready to go.
The Guardians attacked without hesitation the moment they appeared. They raised their spears high, their tips flashing with blinding light as they lunged at Carl and his companions like falling meteors. Simultaneously, their warhorses galloped, stirring up a powerful whirlwind of magical energy, laced with sharp blades of wind, which whistled and swept towards the group.
"Defensive formation!" Carl shouted, quickly standing at the front of the group. With a wave of his wand, a golden curtain of light unfolded before them. The other teachers and students also sprang into action, forming a circle with their backs to each other, each casting spells to strengthen their defenses. Teacher Irving muttered something, and rays of ochre light shot from his wand, merging into the golden curtain of light, thickening it even more. Teacher Brown waved his wand, summoning an aquamarine shield that covered the curtain. Ripples formed on the shield, neutralizing the wind blades' attack.
"These guys are so rude! It's like we stole their treasure." Jerry complained while casting magic to maintain the shield.
“Maybe in their eyes, we are intruders and enemies,” Carl said, beads of sweat oozing from his forehead, his eyes closely watching the guardians’ every move.
After fending off the first wave of attacks, Carl attempted to communicate with the Guardians. He raised his hands, signaling his intentions, and shouted, "We have no ill intentions. We are merely exploring, and we do not wish to become your enemies!" However, the Guardians seemed oblivious to his words, their expressions expressionless as they prepared for the next attack.
“It seems they don’t understand what we say, or they simply don’t want to listen.” Karl said with a frown.
"Then what should we do? We can't just keep taking the beating like this, right?" Lucy asked anxiously.
"We have to find a way to break through their defenses and find the core of the ruins, but try not to hurt them. They may just be carrying out an ancient mission." Carl replied.
The Guardians attacked again, this time changing their tactics. Some leaped from their horses, soaring high into the air before swooping down on the defensive formation like cannonballs. Their spears flashed with an even brighter light, clearly preparing to concentrate their efforts on a breakthrough.
"Everyone, be careful!" Teacher Claire shouted.
Everyone quickly adjusted their defenses, concentrating more magic power at the top. Carl cast a rebound spell, attempting to deflect the Guardian's attack. As the Guardians' spears pierced the light curtain, a powerful force suddenly erupted from it, knocking some Guardians flying. However, these Guardians flipped in mid-air, landing steadily on the ground and quickly preparing for their next attack.
"These guys are really hard to deal with!" Tom shouted, waving his wand faster, and magic power was continuously injected into the defensive shield.
"Don't be distracted, we have to maintain formation!" Teacher Ivan reminded.
In the fierce battle, Carl discovered that although the guardians' attacks were fierce and methodical, there seemed to be some rules. Their attacks always followed a certain rhythm and sequence, like an ancient and mysterious dance.
"Everyone, pay attention to their attack rhythm, we may be able to find a loophole." Carl shouted.
After some observation, Carl discovered that every time a group of three Guardians launched an attack, there would be a short gap in the middle. Although this gap was short, if they seized the opportunity, they might have a chance to break through the Guardian's defense line.
"When they attack in groups of three next time, we will concentrate our forces to attack the gaps between them, and then take the opportunity to rush over." Carl said to everyone.
"Will this work? It feels like gambling." Tom said with some concern.
"There's no better way now. We can only try." Carl said firmly.
As the Guardians attacked again in groups of three, Carl, seizing the opportunity, shouted, "Now!" He was the first to cast a powerful impact spell. A beam of white light shot from his wand, dashing towards the gap between the Guardians. The other teachers and students also cast attack spells. Lights of various colors converged into a powerful force, blasting towards the gap between the swords.
The Guardians seemed unprepared for such a counterattack and were caught off guard by the sudden attack. The force of the attack successfully opened a gap in their defenses, and although the gap was quickly filled by more Guardians, some still took the opportunity to rush through.
"Hurry up!" Carl shouted, and he led some of his men through the gap and ran deep into the ruins. The rest of them continued to fight with the guardians, buying them time.
"Be careful!" Lucy shouted over her shoulder, her eyes full of worry.
"Don't worry, we will catch up with you soon." Teacher Ivan responded, waving his wand vigorously and fighting fiercely with the guardians.
As Carl and his companions ran, they could hear the sounds of magic colliding and shouting behind them. They knew that every moment was precious and they had to find the core of the ruins as soon as possible and solve all the mysteries to end this crisis.
"I hope they are all safe." Carl prayed silently in his heart, his eyes revealing determination and worry. He walked faster, running towards the unknown front. What was waiting for them ahead might be more dangers, or perhaps the key to solving all problems.
They rushed along, the wind in the passage whistling past their ears, as if urging them on. Suddenly, a huge hall appeared in front of them. In the center of the hall was a stone platform emitting a mysterious light. Surrounding the stone platform were ancient magic circles. This must be the core area of the ruins. But Carl knew that there might be more dangers hidden here, and they could not be careless.
"Don't be impulsive, let's observe first." Carl stopped the excited classmates. They approached the hall cautiously, vigilantly observing everything around them, ready to meet new challenges.
This encounter with the mysterious guardian is like a fierce storm that drags them into deeper danger. Whether they can find their way in this storm depends on their next actions.
