The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 38: Journey to the Ruins (1)
Journey to the Relics (I)
The shimmer of morning light, like a golden thread, passed through the ancient spire of the academy and shone upon Carl and his companions. Carrying their bags, their eyes woven with determination and anticipation, they embarked on an unknown journey toward the mysterious ruins. Each step was like a heavy and powerful knock on the door of fate, echoing across the silent academy square.
Their first stop was the Enchanted Forest, an ancient woodland steeped in mystery and danger. As soon as they reached the edge of the forest, a thick, magical aura overwhelmed them, as if countless invisible eyes were watching them. The trees towered into the sky, their branches intertwined to form a dense, opaque green dome. Sunlight filtered through the layers of leaves, casting only specks of light, as if the ground were covered with shimmering gold.
"Everyone, be careful. There may be dangers hidden everywhere here." Carl warned in a low voice, his eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly, his wand tightly grasped in his hand.
However, danger always strikes unexpectedly. Suddenly, a low roar echoed from the depths of the forest, and then the surrounding trees began to shake violently. Thick branches seemed to come alive, twisting and reaching towards them, and the leaves on the branches rustled, like the whispers of death.
"It's the tree spirit! Everyone get ready for battle!" Carl shouted, his voice echoing in the forest, breaking the original silence.
Dryads surged in from all directions, their bodies formed from thick tree trunks, their faces etched with mysterious runes and gleaming with an eerie green light. They waved their thorny branches, chanting ancient magical incantations as beams of green magic shot forth from their hands. Like sharp arrows, the beams whistled through the air, scorching the grass and trees wherever they passed, leaving black marks and emitting acrid smoke.
"Tom and Jerry, use wind magic to disrupt their attacks! Lucy and Teacher Ivan, let's attack the tree spirits in front together! Everyone else, pay attention to defense and protect yourselves!" Carl gave orders quickly, his eyes calm and composed, showing outstanding leadership in the face of crisis.
Tom and Jerry immediately cast their wind magic. They waved their wands and chanted complex incantations. Instantly, a fierce wind surged through the forest, its powerful currents like surging waves, whistling towards the magical beams fired by the dryads. The wind and the beams collided, producing a sharp hissing sound. Some beams were blown off course, blasting into the surrounding trees, causing roars and sparks to fly.
Lucy and Teacher Irving fought alongside Carl, brandishing their wands and chanting powerful attack spells. Carl's wand first erupted with a fiery flame, a deep orange-red blaze, its core so intense it distorted the surrounding air. Like a roaring dragon, the flames lashed out at the dryads, their fangs bared and claws bared. Leaves on the ground instantly turned to ash in its wake. Lucy cast a frost spell, her wand radiating a faint blue light, a chill spreading rapidly. As her spell finished, piercing icicles appeared from thin air. Crystal clear, like the sharpest diamonds, their icy gleam gleaming in the sunlight. They rained down upon the dryads, each one possessing immense penetrating power. They pierced the dryads, instantly freezing their limbs and slowing their movements. The lightning magic unleashed by Teacher Ivan was even more astonishing. Golden lightning danced and flickered around his wand, accompanied by a deafening roar. Like sharp golden swords, it pierced through the swarm of dryads. The dryads touched by the lightning instantly developed charred marks on their bodies. They trembled in pain and let out shrill cries.
But the dryads refused to retreat. They attacked with even greater frenzy, some casting traps. Huge vine traps suddenly appeared on the ground, snaking out like pythons. Their surfaces were covered in sharp thorns, each gleaming with green venom. The vines spun towards Carl and his companions at breakneck speed, attempting to trap them.
"Watch your step!" Mr. Brown shouted, waving his wand and casting an earth magic spell. He plunged his wand into the ground, muttering something, and the ground began to shake violently. Rays of earth-yellow light surged from the ground, quickly pinning the vines in place. As if grasped by an invisible hand, the vines were unable to move forward and could only twist frantically in place, trying to break free from the earth magic's constraints.
During the fierce battle, Carl discovered that the dryads' attacks seemed to follow a certain pattern: they always surrounded a few ancient trees in the forest for defense. The trunks of those trees were so thick that it took several people to hug them. The bark was engraved with ancient and mysterious patterns, emitting powerful magical fluctuations.
"Everyone, pay attention, attack those big trees! They may be the source of the tree spirit's power." Carl shouted.
Everyone concentrated their firepower and launched an attack on the trees. Carl raised his wand high and chanted a powerful compound spell. He combined the power of fire, frost, and lightning, and a dazzling sun-like light erupted from the tip of his wand. This light, imbued with devastating force, shot towards one of the trees. Simultaneously, Lucy, Teacher Ivan, and the other students unleashed their most powerful offensive spells. Suddenly, the magical light illuminated the entire forest, a dazzling cacophony of colors intertwined to create a dazzling yet dangerous spectacle. Flames ignited the trunks of the trees, spreading rapidly, engulfing them in a sea of flame. Frost crawled along the veins of the trees, freezing them and creating cracks wherever it touched. Lightning bombarded the trees relentlessly, each strike accompanied by a thunderous roar and sending wood chips flying everywhere.
Under the fierce attack, the tree began to shake, and the dryads panicked. Its branches trembled violently, creaking and groaning as if in pain. With a resounding crash, the tree collapsed, sending up clouds of dust. The surrounding dryads, as if losing their souls, collapsed one after another, their green glow gradually dimming, until they were reduced to a pile of ordinary woody debris.
"We did it!" The classmates cheered, their faces filled with the joy of victory, but Carl knew that this was only the first challenge in the journey.
After a short rest, they continued their journey deeper into the forest. Along the way, they encountered various magical traps. Some of these traps released a mind-bending mist, a faint purple hue reminiscent of a dream. Anyone inhaling the mist would be plunged into a hallucination, as if transported to a beautiful dream world, witnessing the very things they most desired. Some students' visions blurred, their steps unconsciously drifting deeper into the mist. Had their companions not spotted and pulled them back in time, they would have been trapped. Other traps were magical circles hidden underground, their runes faintly visible on the ground, emitting a faint glow. Once triggered, they would trigger a powerful explosion. The force of the blast was like a surging ocean wave, capable of overturning everything around them. However, with their teamwork and extensive magical knowledge, they repeatedly navigated danger. Some students cast purification spells to dispel the mist, while others used earth magic to sense the presence of the underground magic circle and carefully circumvent it.
Finally, they successfully crossed the enchanted forest and saw a barren desert before them. The desert was scorching hot, and the air seemed to be burning. The sand dunes in the distance shone brightly in the sunlight, like waves in a golden ocean.
"This desert doesn't look very friendly." Teacher Claire said with a frown.
"Everyone, remember to stay hydrated. We need to cross this desert as quickly as possible." Carl said. He took out his water bottle, took a sip of water, and then led everyone into the desert.
However, the dangers of the desert were far greater than they had imagined. Shortly after they began their journey, the sky suddenly darkened, a howling wind swept sand high into the sky, and a powerful sandstorm formed. Like a gigantic black monster, the sandstorm lunged at them with bared fangs and claws, instantly devouring them. The sand in the sandstorm was like sharp blades, constantly scraping at their bodies. Each grain of sand carried a powerful impact, causing a pain like being stabbed by countless needles. They could barely open their eyes, their vision completely obscured by the vast expanse of yellow sand.
Carl quickly cast a wind spell. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and rapidly chanted an incantation. As the spell finished, a powerful cyan light emanated from the tip of his wand. The light quickly spread, forming a small wind shield around them. The wind shield, like a transparent dome, kept most of the sand out. The sand struck the shield, making a crackling sound like raindrops hitting glass. Simultaneously, he used earth magic to dig several small pits in the sand. With a gentle wave of his wand, the sand on the ground automatically parted to the sides, forming sand pits just big enough for one person. He let everyone take shelter inside, lessening the impact of the sandstorm. Everyone huddled in the sand pits, clutching their backpacks and magic items tightly, waiting for the storm to subside.
As the sandstorm raged, they were attacked by sandworms. The worms, massive, dark red bodies covered in a hard shell studded with sharp barbs, darted beneath the sand. Suddenly, they emerged from the ground, their massive mouths laced with sharp teeth, biting down on Carl and his companions like a giant meat grinder. The worms moved with incredible speed, leaving deep furrows in the sand and sending sand flying wherever they went.
The sandworm's body was as hard as iron, and ordinary magic attacks had almost no effect on it. The magic beams fired by the students hit the sandworm's shell, but only splashed a burst of sparks, unable to cause any substantial damage to it.
"Concentrate your fire on their eyes!" Carl shouted.
Everyone cast spells, attacking the sandworm's eyes. The sandworm's eyes were large, bulging, and a murky yellow, making them a relatively vulnerable part of its body. Carl cast a powerful light spell, and a dazzling white light burst forth from the tip of his wand, as blazing as the sun. The light pierced the sandworm's eyes. Feeling threatened, the sandworm tried to evade, but the light followed it like a shadow. When the light struck the sandworm's eyes, it roared in pain, its eyes burning with the light, sending plumes of black smoke billowing out. The other students were not to be outdone. Some cast wind magic, creating sharp blades of wind that sliced at the sandworm's eyes; others cast water magic, concentrating into high-pressure jets of water that blasted the sandworm's eyes. Under the assault, the sandworms writhed in pain and rolled on the sand. Their massive bodies flattened the surrounding dunes, sending sand flying into the air. Their attacks intensified, but Carl and his companions refused to retreat. After a fierce battle, they finally drove the sandworms back.
The sandstorm gradually subsided, and the desert returned to calm. But everyone was exhausted, their physical strength and magical power greatly depleted. Everyone's face was covered in sand and dust, their clothes were torn in many places, and their bodies were covered in scrapes and bruises.
"We need to find a place to rest," Carl said. He looked up at the sky, relying on his sense of magical elements to search for the direction of the water source. He closed his eyes, feeling the subtle fluctuations of water molecules in the air. The magical elements in his perception were like stars in the night sky. He tried hard to find those special "stars" that represented the source of water.
After searching for a while, Carl discovered an oasis in the desert. It was like a pearl in the desert, surrounded by lush palm trees, whose fronds rustled gently in the breeze. In the center lay a crystal-clear lake, shimmering in the sunlight like a giant mirror. Colorful fish swam happily in the lake, and the water plants on the lakebed swayed gently with the current.
"We've reached the oasis, everyone can take a break." There was a hint of relief in Carl's voice.
They entered the oasis, feeling the cool air and moist air. Students rushed to the lake, plopped in, gulped down sips of water, and then splashed in, washing away the dust and fatigue. The teachers began to examine everyone's injuries and prepare some simple magical healing rituals. Teacher Claire cast a healing spell, and a soft green light emanated from the tip of her wand, enveloping the injured students. The wounds healed at a visible rate, and the pain gradually subsided.
“This challenge was really difficult, but we all got through it,” said Teacher Ivan.
"Yes, this is just the beginning. There are more dangers waiting for us. But I believe that as long as we unite, nothing can stop us." Carl said firmly.
After a short rest in the oasis, they will embark on their journey again and continue to move towards the mysterious ruins. They don’t know how many unknown dangers are waiting for them ahead, but their eyes are still firm, because they are fighting to protect the continent.
