Time Travel: Age of Discovery

Chapter 108: The Night at Sea, Bone-chilling Cold

Thea took off his cloak, squeezed out the moisture as much as possible, covered Robin's delicate body with it, exposed his upper body, and hugged her tightly, using his body temperature to keep her warm.

The night at sea was bitterly cold, and many people's lips turned purple due to the low temperature. However, what surprised and thankful Teya was that, except for a few injured people, no one was missing or died.

What was even more unexpected for Teya was that the captain's shipwrights had skillfully used scattered wooden boards to piece together two simple boats. Although simple, they could still float on the water without leaking.

After everyone had packed their clothes and squeezed into the two small boats, they unfortunately couldn't find any drier firewood. It wasn't until much later that they finally managed to light a bonfire from a pile of wet wood, bringing a little warmth.

The captain, now suffering heavy losses, dejectedly pondered his future options. Almost everything that could be saved was lost, and the ship had sunk to the bottom of the sea, making salvage impossible.

Robin was wrapped tightly by Thea, and even though he was strong, he shivered slightly from the cold, and his lips turned slightly pale. Wet clothes against his skin were certainly uncomfortable, but it was better than being naked. With the warmth of the campfire, Thea gradually felt warm.

Several sailors struggled to salvage what little they could, throwing it onto a large plank, then moored the boat beside the bonfire. Everyone was silent as a bottle of strong liquor was passed around, and everyone took a sip to warm themselves.

In times of crisis, no matter who we were, we are all under the same sky. Teja recalled the film Titanic, where the survivors shared a bottle of wine on a small boat.

Thea held Robin in his arms, and the captain handed him a wine jug at the right moment. Although he wanted to decline, saying he didn't drink, Thea finally took it and took a sip.

The wine wasn't spicy, but the instant it entered his mouth, a surge of heat surged straight into his stomach. Perhaps because Teja hadn't eaten in a while, the feeling was particularly profound. However, this sip of wine also made him feel gradually warmer.

Suddenly, Teya had an idea and asked the captain, "Where is that black ship?"

"Already gone."

Teya remembered the black ship; it seemed somewhat similar to the one he had encountered in Shiyin Town, yet not entirely the same. Perhaps due to the rain and the urgency of rescuing people, the ship had now sailed far away, leaving no trace.

The most important thing now was to find a way out of the current predicament. Although the storm had subsided, I had no idea where I was. Even with a compass, reaching the other side with only the two small boats before me would be incredibly difficult.

At this moment, Thea felt Robin stir slightly in her arms, so she looked down. Robin woke up slowly, and when she saw Thea's smiling face, she couldn't help but feel ecstatic, but Thea made a gesture to her to be quiet.

The current situation was complicated, so Robin should not speak and should wait for reinforcements. Therefore, Thea wrapped him in clothes and concealed his face.

"Thank you, brother."

The little girl in the woman's arms opened her eyes wide and thanked Teya, who gently stroked her head.

Fortunately, I discovered the mother and daughter in time, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable.

Everyone waited silently on the boat, hoping for a passing ship. However, in the pitch-black night, only the flickering bonfire was visible, leaving no other light.

……

At this moment, on an island beneath the red earth continent.

"You beastly thing, you actually need me to take action myself!"

A man riding a slave and wearing a bubble headdress stepped onto the boat, cursing and kicking the slave under him with his toes.

However, the slave, who was covered in wounds, could no longer hold on and fell to the ground with a muffled groan.

The celestial dragon fell to the ground like a ball, sprawled on his back. A man in a suit and tie beside him hurried forward to help the celestial dragon up. After he stood up, he angrily walked towards the fallen slave and kicked him repeatedly.

"Damn idiot, what's the point of keeping you here!"

However, the slave lay soundlessly on the ground, his life gone. The long torture had broken him down, and perhaps death at this moment was a relief for him.

No one dared to stop the Celestial Dragons. Everyone seemed to ignore them, only the sounds of kicking and beating echoed. After venting their anger, the Celestial Dragons left in anger, and the dead slave was cleared away like trash, as if he had never existed.

The magnificent ship sailed into the depths of the sea and gradually disappeared into the horizon.

At dawn, Teya and his companions were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a ship passing by. The already exhausted crowd instantly lifted their spirits and shouted for help. Only when they saw the ship approaching did they breathe a sigh of relief, as if a taut string had finally been loosened.

"It's okay, we're rescued."

Thea leaned close to Robin's ear and whispered. He hadn't closed his eyes all night, holding Robin tightly, unwilling to let go. Even at sea, Robin felt the warmth of home, and after learning he'd been rescued, he quickly fell into a deep, remarkably peaceful sleep.

She knew very well that Teya's signal to her not to speak was a measure taken to prevent her identity from being discovered, and this move was indeed beneficial to her.

The ship passing by was actually a merchant ship. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief again, glad that it was not a pirate ship.

The communication bug that Teya was carrying was hidden in his backpack. At this moment, not only the communication bug but also the backpack sank to the bottom of the sea. Therefore, when Teya was about to contact the navy for help, he realized this and had to give up.

It can be said that misfortune and fortune are interdependent, but at least everyone has been rescued safely.

The merchant ship didn't have enough cabins for everyone, so they had to squeeze in. But judging by the conversation between the captain of the merchant ship Thea was on and the captain of this ship, the two seemed to know each other. They were talking to each other.

"Did that black ship knock you over?"
