Time Travel: Age of Discovery

Chapter 109 Tonight is really hard to endure

The boat owner twisted the butt of an agarwood cigarette in one hand, and two wisps of green smoke escaped from both sides of his nose. He looked at the person opposite him with a slightly surprised look.

Having lost his bag, Teya now only had a few small coins hidden in his clothes. However, on this overcrowded ship, he probably wouldn't have a cabin to himself. Everyone gathered on the deck to rest. For them, this night had been a difficult one, but now they had finally found a relatively safe place, and their anxiety was temporarily relieved.

At this moment, the two ship owners seemed to have stopped talking, and the ship's owner announced to everyone that he would prepare food and try to make room in the cabin, but everyone would still have to squeeze in. Even more comforting was that the ship owner took out a box of clean clothes for everyone to change into.

What everyone needed most at the moment was dry clothes, so when the news got out, there was a moment of chaos on the deck. However, everyone took one or two pieces of clothing and changed into them. The women and children retreated to the cabin to change, while the men changed on the deck.

Thea only took two clean coats, put one on himself, and put the other on Robin's shoulders, and carefully fastened the brim of his hat for him.

After everything was packed up, everyone hung their wet clothes on the deck to dry. Several crew members brought bowls of hot soup and distributed them to everyone one by one.

"Thank you, one bowl is enough."

Thea took the large bowl of hot soup and nodded slightly to the crew member who handed it to him. He was now sitting on the deck with his knees bent, while Robin sat quietly on his knees, his back to the others. Because he was wearing a hat, no one could see his face.

And who could have expected that the young child in front of him was the Nicole Robin on the wanted poster?

Thea blew gently on the hot soup, then fed it to Robin spoonful by spoonful. Robin felt a mixture of emotions. She had just experienced a life-or-death struggle, and she would never forget the despair of falling into the sea. As a Devil Fruit user, falling into the sea was like stepping into a dead end.

Robin thought to herself that if she hadn't met Thea this time, she might have already been buried at the bottom of the sea. Thinking of this, Robin almost cried again.

"But did it get burned?"

Seeing Robin's strange expression, Thea hurriedly blew a few more breaths of cool air on him. Robin, who had never experienced much family affection, felt Thea's care at this moment and felt warm in his heart.

Despite having no blood relationship with Thea, he treated her like a family member, even though as a sailor, he had never treated her the same way as others. However, Robin did not doubt Thea's intentions. After all, he had saved her from danger many times. More importantly, the image of the refugee rescue ship had been deeply imprinted in her heart.

Robin may not know what parental love is, but she believes that everything Thea did today is perhaps the care that a parent should give to their child. However, Thea is completely unaware of Robin's thoughts.

"Brother, why are you so nice to me?"

In the end, Robin couldn't help but asked Thea a question. As soon as she finished speaking, she slowly lowered her head.

Teya paused, then slowly placed the spoon back into the bowl. The words he had prepared came to his lips, but he swallowed them back abruptly, feeling he didn't really mean them. Or perhaps he didn't have any reason or purpose for doing so, simply because he wanted to.

"Robin, have you ever seen a candy jar?"

Candy jar?

Robin blinked and thought for a moment. Although he didn't understand why Thea asked this question, he still answered truthfully.

“I’ve seen it in stores before, but never bought it.”

Robin's voice gradually faded until it was almost inaudible.

Teya held Robin in her arms and said softly, "It's like that candy jar. When you reach out to take a candy, you never know what the next one will taste like. Just like in daily life, unknown challenges always await."

Thea was sure that Robin could understand what he said; after all, she was a well-read and extraordinary child.

He then said to Robin, "Although you don't know which candy you'll catch next, you can choose to take one or more. So, what I do now is my choice. Do you understand?"

"So I'm the candy that my brother picked?"

Robin frowned and asked this, but Thea laughed out loud and gently pinched a piece of vegetable leaf at the corner of Robin's mouth.

In reality, Thea had only met Robin twice, but those two encounters left Robin with the impression of a savior, a family member, and because of this, Robin trusted him deeply.

Looking at the sea ahead, Teya spoke slowly.

"We may have to separate at the next island."

Although he was reluctant to mention it, Teya finally said it.

Robin was obviously stunned, and then showed a hint of displeasure, but she knew very well that with her identity, it was impossible for her to always follow Thea.

Robin, putting on a forced smile, said to Thea, "It's alright. This is the choice my brother had no other choice."

The tough Robin made people feel pity. Thea hugged her tightly in his arms and whispered in her ear.

"Live well, maybe one day in the future, the entire ocean and even the entire world will change. Believe me."

"Ah."

Robin couldn't fully understand what Thea said, but she believed every word Thea said.

The sun shines, the breeze blows on your face, and the coolness brought by the sea breeze makes people feel very comfortable.

Robin looked up, gazing at the clear blue sky after the storm.

“Welcome next time.”

When Robin walked out of the clothing store, she had changed into a brand new outfit. This was the first time since she grew up that someone had bought her new clothes.

She stood at the door of the store, looked at her reflection in the glass window, and couldn't help feeling deeply moved: when she was treated so coldly, there was still such a stranger who cared about her so much, especially since this person had no blood relationship with her.

She was holding a package containing four or five new clothes, enough to last her for a while.

"How about it, don't you like it?"

Robin quickly shook his head to express his great joy and thanked his brother for his kindness.

Thea smiled and stroked the top of Robin's head before taking her hand and strolling down the street.

They had arrived at this island a week ago. It was located near Phoenix Island, where Shiyin Town was located, and technically still within the same kingdom's territory. While the island was small, its convenient location attracted many ships, and many merchant ships chose it as a resupply stop.
