Gold Medal Sweetheart

Chapter 22 Library

Tang Xin's library card had not been replaced since it was reported lost. When she woke up early on the weekend and the weather was good, she decided to go and get a replacement.

A large number of crabapples are planted in front of the library square. A few years ago, because the crabapples were in full bloom in spring and a landscape lake was built here with beautiful scenery, this place has become a popular spring outing destination and a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities in recent years.

Crossing the square, you can reach the library. Tang Xin walked along the way, and the running figures of the crowds gathered here and there, the shouts and laughter blended together, and the vitality of the city came to her face.

Tang Xin took out his cell phone and took some photos as he walked. Although he was not a professional, he always had a certain yearning for the beautiful scenery.

Arriving at the library, Tang Xin followed the staff's instructions and went to the card application counter. Libraries are very efficient these days; you can get a card by simply submitting your ID. However, for the convenience of self-service borrowing, you can also apply for a card at a machine. Within minutes, Tang Xin received her new card. She happily went to the second floor to check out a few interesting novels.

Although they arrived early, there were more readers who liked historical fiction, and some people were already reading. Tang Xin chose a book by Gabriel García Márquez and sat down at the desk.

She had just read a few pages when her WeChat voice call rang. Seeing the profile picture, she looked up helplessly and rolled her eyes. When she answered the phone, a soft voice said, "Hello, what's up?"

Jin Taize sat in the car, glanced at the center console, and said in a cold voice, "I can't come to you if there's nothing wrong?"

Tang Xin immediately denied it: "Yes, I was just saying it casually." Her voice was pleasant, but her face showed impatience.

"What are you doing?" The man's low voice seeped into his ears from the receiver.

"Borrow some novels from the library."

Jin Taize's face froze, and his thoughts followed his memory back. After a moment, he suddenly curled his lips and said, "Wait for me, I'll be there soon."

Tang Xin was convinced that he couldn't even read in peace, but still asked, "Do you know which library it is?" There are actually many libraries in the city. In addition to this city library, each district has its own library.

"The city library."

Tang Xin was surprised. It was surprising, the guess was right. Resignedly, she said, "Okay." But then she suddenly remembered another excuse. "You don't have a library card, do you? Getting one is really a hassle..." Tang Xin started making up a story, figuring Jin Taize probably hadn't borrowed a book either. Her words were so pathetic that they made it sound like a pity. What could she do? The weather wasn't cooperating. The unexpected implication was, "Just read it. You'd better save yourself the trouble. Don't come."

"I have a library card." The voice was calm and cold, penetrating, causing Tang Xin to be stunned. How could the CEO of the group company, Jin Da, be like them, ordinary people, and apply for a library card to borrow books from the public library just to save a few coins on buying books? Although it is much more efficient now, borrowing and returning books is still a hassle for entrepreneurs who value time. She thought she had misheard and subconsciously uttered, "Huh?"

"I have a library card," Jin Taize repeated, then asked mercilessly, "Why, do you have any objections?"

Tang Xin was speechless after being asked this question. She could only agree with him and said dejectedly, "No, no."

"Then can I go over?" Jin Taize asked in a raised voice.

Can I stop it? Tang Xin thought unhappily, the way you just cornered me, did you sound like you were asking for my opinion?

"You are a licensed person, who can stop you?" He snorted softly, and his voice, with a smile, revealed a hint of sarcasm.

"Okay, see you later." Jin Taize hung up the phone with a smile. The car sped towards the city library.

After parking his car in the parking lot, Jin Taize headed for the library. Libraries are a cultural centerpiece of the city, and with the beautiful season in mind, people flocked here for an outing. The place was bustling with activity: children practicing roller skating, couples flying kites, and photographers capturing the beautiful scenery with their cameras. A gentle breeze rustled the petals, delicately swaying like the hem of a girl's skirt. The people and scenery complemented each other beautifully. Jin Taize's eyes lingered on the spring scenery, and he felt a sense of joy in the spring breeze himself.

After passing security, Jin Taize headed straight for the literature and fiction section on the second floor. Amidst the dense crowd of people, some standing and some sitting, Jin Taize's gaze immediately fell on Tang Xin, who was leaning against a French window, quietly reading. Her hair was tucked behind her ear, revealing her pure and beautiful profile. The morning sun streamed brightly down on her, casting a soft glow over her, a quiet and sweet presence.

Although this scene came a little late, he still did not miss it.

Jin Taize curled his lips, took a refreshing step towards the sunlight, picked up a book from the bookshelf, and quietly sat down a few seats away from her. He spread out the book and looked at the person by the window.

Tang Xin's neck and shoulders ached from looking down for so long, so she put her hands behind her neck to relax the muscles. Turning her head unintentionally, she caught sight of a figure. Her head, which had been turned away, spun back again. Jin Taize was lazily leaning on the desk, his chin resting on one hand. His eyebrows raised, his gaze fixed on her.

How long has he been sitting here?

Tang Xin gently scolded, "Why didn't you say anything when you came?"

Jin Taize stood up and moved to Tang Xin's side, saying half-jokingly, "I don't want to disturb your leisure time."

"Then I'll continue." Since he was willing to come here to kill time, she would cooperate with him and she would not be in a hurry.

Jin Taize raised his hand to make a gesture of "please go ahead" and lowered his head to read the book in his hands. Tang Xin raised her eyes and looked at him. He looked like a good student, his jawline raised tightly and his thin lips curled up. Mr. Jin was a little bit naughty today.

The library was quiet, and everyone was speaking in low voices. Jin Taize and Tang Xin, however, were each reading their own books, tacitly agreeing not to interfere with each other. She had thought Jin Taize's presence would make her uneasy, but time had flown by unexpectedly, and in the blink of an eye, it was almost noon.

The library had a dining area with cheap prices, so Tang Xin planned to have lunch there. She turned around and, so as not to disturb others, whispered, "It's almost noon. I want to eat here. Are you leaving?"

Jin Taize frowned and looked Tang Xin up and down, looking as if he couldn't hear clearly. "What did you say?"

Tang Xin patiently repeated it again, looking at him quietly, and waiting for his reply seriously.

But Jin Taize frowned even tighter, his expression was as if he had watched a silent movie that he couldn't understand, and the look he gave her meant, Miss, I really don't know what you are talking about.

Even though she spoke in a low voice, it was still loud enough to hear what was said. Tang Xin looked at him suspiciously, raising her eyelids. Could it be that he was hard of hearing?

Jin Taize curled his fingers towards Tang Xin and hooked them towards himself. Tang Xin moved closer, and Jin Taize tilted his head and pointed his index finger towards his ear.

Did that mean—let her whisper in his ear?
