Gold Medal Sweetheart
Chapter 15 Mr. Lucky and Miss Careless
That night's dream might have had some sequel, but when Tang Xin woke up the next morning, she had almost forgotten it. The fragmented fragments were completely incomprehensible. And she wasn't concerned about these trivial matters right now.
Before work, Tang Xin hurriedly prepared everything, but she didn't forget to bring some money, having embarrassed herself the previous day. She rummaged through her closet, finding only 60 yuan. With the end of the month still nearly half a month away, it seemed the severe financial crisis brought on by the sanctions at work had already begun to manifest.
On the way, Tang Xin thought, "It's not going to be a good thing to keep going like this. Life has to go on, but now I can't even be self-sufficient. I have to find a way to solve the problem." Suddenly, an idea struck her. There was a night market not far from her home. The weather was getting warmer, so why not set up a small stall there and sell something to supplement the family income?
So in the past two days, Tang Xin has been thinking about her business plan and what she should sell based on her limited start-up capital.
When Tang Xin got home that day, she received a box of parcels. Given her current financial situation, she couldn't afford to buy anything for herself. She wondered what was in the box and who had bought it.
I used a wallpaper knife to cut open the box, and inside were all Tang Xin's favorite snacks. Who did this good deed? He must know her stomach too well.
She took out the bags one by one and looked at them. At this time, the phone rang. She rummaged through the box with one hand and took out the phone from her pocket with the other hand. The caller ID showed that it was Guan Yushan. She pressed the answer button, "Tangtang, did you receive the express delivery I sent you?" Guan Yushan couldn't hide her excitement on the other end of the phone.
"Are all these delicious foods yours?" Tang Xin suddenly understood. That day, she'd reported her blind date to Yu Shan, and it had ended abruptly with a few words from Yu Shan. Tang Xin had assumed Yu Shan didn't take her affairs to heart, but she'd taken her mention of a fall to heart unexpectedly.
"Of course. We have lived together for four years. Who knows your taste better than me?" Guan Yushan said with certainty.
"Why do you spend money on so many things?" Although he had a good relationship with Yu Shan, Tang Xin always couldn't bear to let Yu Shan spend money.
"Your leg is injured, right? I've been very busy lately and haven't had time to visit you, so hehe, I can only send food and supplies before the troops move." Guan Yushan said it lightly, but she still felt a little sorry.
"You're still thinking about me," Tang Xin recalled, remembering the time when she and Yu Shan were lying on the same bed together, chatting about their secrets and the snacks they often ate. The days when they were inseparable flashed back before her eyes. Her heart was filled with emotion, but she deliberately scolded him, "But you bought too much, didn't you? Are you trying to eat me like a pig?"
"Just consider it as my bribe." Guan Yushan comforted Tang Xin.
"Putting aside our fake sisterly affection, just for this box of delicious food, I'd risk my life for you."
Tang Xin and Guan Yushan both knew that although they called each other sisters, they knew each other's preferences, secrets, and pains. No one was more suitable to be called best friends than them.
The two chatted for a while before hanging up. After hanging up, Tang Xin looked at the colorful packaging in front of her and had an idea: snacks were cheap, most girls liked them, and they had a large audience. So, why not sell snacks?
Tang Xin did what he said. The next day, he took half a day off and used the little savings he had accumulated to go to the city's largest food wholesale market and buy a batch of snacks.
After finishing dinner early in the evening, she rode her family's electric bike, carrying several small boxes in front and back, and rushed to the night market.
As night fell, the night market shone with neon lights and dazzling stars. Even this small corner of the city could showcase the vitality and vibrancy of urban life. Tang Xin found an open space at one end of the night market entrance, set out the boxes one by one, and sat down on a small folding stool, waiting for business to come.
As the night deepened, more and more people came out for a walk after dinner. The long and narrow night market streets seemed to have no end in sight, and the sounds of hawking, shouting, and bargaining in her ears became louder and louder. She couldn't help but feel that the city became more beautiful at night.
Perhaps it was because the stall had just opened and shoppers were still unfamiliar with it, so not many people were asking about the prices. With nothing to do, Tang Xin's thoughts wandered. The day had been uneventful, nothing special. No call from Yushan, no news from that Jin guy. Did this mean that yesterday's events had come to an end, that everything had gone relatively smoothly? That would have been a perfect ending. Now, she had to work hard, make money, make money, so she could go see her Renxun oppa.
Lost in her reverie of a blissful future, a clear and graceful voice interrupted her. "Are you new here today?" A quietly dressed girl caught her eye. As she spoke, she pulled out a series of delicate and lovely potted plants from cartons. Tang Xin felt her softest part touched. Before she could even answer, she blurted out, "This is so adorable!"
The girl smiled and asked, "Do you like it? I'll give you one."
Tang Xin nodded, then immediately shook her head. Seeing her half-hearted response, the girl couldn't help but smile again. Tang Xin smiled back, "I do like it, but I can't support it. I'm lucky I can support myself. I've always been the type to be ruthless and destroy things." She gestured with her hand.
"My name is Lin Lin, what's yours?"
"My name is Tang Xin, nice to meet you! I'm new here today, please take care of me!" Tang Xin said as she ran over to shake hands.
Lin Lin was enthusiastic and cheerful, and said with a smile: "I came here last week. Let's take care of each other."
Seeing that Lin Lin still had a lot of flowers and potted plants to move, Tang Xin offered to help her move them. The two of them chatted and laughed as they got busy.
After everything was ready, the two girls sat side by side and started chatting. It turned out that Lin Lin was two years younger than her and was a recent graduate from a university in the city. She was currently unemployed, so she looked for a job during the day and came to the night market to earn some money at night.
The two of them got along better and better as they talked, and they were both fans of a cool and handsome male star named Chen Mingnai, who was known for his charming and handsome style, so they felt that they were destined to be together.
While chatting, Tang Xin realized that she had left in a hurry and hadn't brought any water. There was a supermarket not far away, so she wanted to buy a bottle of mineral water. After explaining it to Lin Lin, she asked her to help keep an eye on it, and she readily agreed.
She walked along the street to the supermarket and bought a bottle of mineral water for Lin Lin and herself. Because of her years of environmental protection, she didn't ask for a plastic bag. After paying with her phone, she walked back with the two bottles of water.
After leaving the supermarket, she looked at the flowing crowd, thinking about how to survive in the cracks of the school, when she heard a warm voice behind her, "Miss, your phone fell."
When Tang Xin turned around, she saw a tall, straight-set man in a slim-fitting gray trench coat. His warm smile was like a leaf gently falling into the Danube, creating ripples. He was so handsome he looked like a star from a Korean drama. Seeing the phone in his hand, she fumbled in her pocket in surprise. She'd been so preoccupied with grabbing water that her phone had slipped out while she was walking. She'd probably been so engrossed in school that she hadn't noticed. And so, she once again admired her own lack of wit.
Tang Xin took the card and said gratefully, "Thank you so much. There are so many important messages in the phone. It would be so troublesome if I lost it. Thank you, thank you!" She said while half bowing.
The man smiled amiably, "Nothing, I was just checking out in line behind you at the supermarket. I accidentally saw your phone case while you were checking out, so I caught up with you when I picked it up at the supermarket entrance."
Tang Xin thought back to the scene in the supermarket. It seemed like there was a handsome man behind her. She smiled and said, "It seems so. We were next to each other. It's all thanks to you—Mr. Lucky."
"Mr. Lucky?" The man pondered for a moment, feeling quite amused. "Should I call you Miss Sloppy?"
"That's fine." Tang Xin stuck out her tongue playfully.
The two of them laughed in unison.
"Don't be so careless next time. You won't be so lucky every time." The man said and turned to leave.
"Wait a minute," she stopped the man. The man showed a puzzled expression. Before he could ask, she ran away, shouting, "Wait a minute, I'll be back soon."
The man waited for a while, and then he saw the girl running towards him carrying a bag full of things. The girl's ponytail swung into graceful arcs due to the movement, and her face was slightly flushed.
Tang Xin was still catching her breath. She held her chest with one hand and handed the thing to the man with the other. "I don't have anything... to express my gratitude... This is... a little gift from me... Don't mind... Please accept it!" She looked at the tall man with sincerity.
The man looked at the girl in front of him and couldn't help but smile. "Actually, you're welcome."
Seeing the man's answer, Tang Xin, who had been pressing her chest, picked up the bag and presented it with both hands, looking very serious.
The girl's movements were obedient and firm, which reminded him of a middle school student standing at attention to hand in math homework to the teacher. Seeing her serious expression, the man slowly took the bag from her hand and said in a clear voice, "Then I will obey your command."
Tang Xin smiled, "I'm setting up a stall at the night market over there," and turned around to point to the entrance of the night market. "Today is the first day of business. I'm so lucky to meet such a nice person like you! Thank you again! Goodbye!" Then she waved and turned to leave.
After watching the girl's graceful back, the man got into his car, soothing music still playing. He placed the bag on the passenger seat, started the engine, and as he passed the night market entrance, he honked the horn to greet Tang Xin, who smiled brightly and waved back. Lin Lin, who was watching from the side, said in surprise, "Is this your benefactor today?"
"Yeah," Tang Xin was a little surprised by Lin Lin's reaction. "What's the matter? Do you know her?"
Lin Lin curled her lips and looked in the direction the car was going. "It's really expensive. That Lamborghini must cost several million."
After hearing Lin Lin's words, Tang Xin imagined the expression this noble man might have when he saw the not-so-expensive seaweed babies, plain green beans, milky pudding, shredded beef, and sucking jelly in the bag. Suddenly, a flock of crows flew over his head.
