Positive little sun, magical girl, I am awesome
Chapter 21 Magic Pet Shop
"Eat quickly, Bella. I remember you like fish." Lilith picked up a piece of tender beef and ate until her mouth was full. She didn't forget to greet Bella. She sat cross-legged in the booth of the restaurant, feeling very comfortable. Away from the aristocratic circle, there were no more eyes and coughs asking her to pay attention to her manners. Bella herself was still a half-grown girl. She didn't understand these complicated aristocratic dining standards, so naturally she couldn't be restrained. Lilith was as happy as a bird out of a cage.
Bella nodded a little nervously. It was her first time to dine in such a spacious and bright restaurant, and even sit at the same table with the noble lady. She hesitated for a moment, and whispered to Lilith, "But Miss, didn't we order too much? We may not be able to finish it..." This was too extravagant, and Bella felt a little uneasy.
Lilith waved her hand nonchalantly, "It's okay, this is just a consumer survey. Besides, your lady is rich." Lilith thought of the pile of boxes at home and couldn't help but smile foolishly.
She brought some magic stones and gold coins with her to see the prices in Goletia. After ordering a table full of delicious food, the waiter only took 50 silver coins from her, which even included the tip. She studied the menu carefully and found that as long as they didn't order any drinks, they wouldn't need to spend a single gold coin even if they ate until their stomachs burst. Although it was much more expensive than Shelley Town, it was a big city! It was a reasonable price, and the food was rich and tasted good.
"We don't eat here every day. Today's meal is to celebrate our settlement in Goletia." Lilith continued to comfort the round-faced girl opposite her and picked up a piece of stewed meat that was a little further away from her. Bella took a bite. Hmm, it was so well stewed that it fell apart in her mouth before her teeth could even use force due to the pressure of her lips and tongue. The complex flavor of spices rushed in her mouth, and Bella couldn't help but squint her eyes. Well, it's good to follow Miss Lilith to have a good time! She must work hard to live up to Mrs. Ram's choice of her.
After a wonderful lunch, Lilith continued to drag Bella to go shopping with her. She wanted to see if there were any magical shops in this city with a magic academy that she imagined.
"New student! Do you need a magic pet?" Not long after walking, a lady with gray hair was smoking a long pipe on the second-floor terrace of a two-story building along the street. After noticing Lilith's curious look, she took the initiative to greet her.
Lilith's eyes lit up, finally!
The lady saw Lilith's expression, smiled and tapped her pipe on the terrace, and the door on the first floor opened without wind. "Come in."
Suddenly stepping from the sunshine into the cool room, Lilith's eyes were a little bit overwhelmed, and she closed her eyes for a while before slowly looking around. The room was very cool, filled with cages of all sizes, most of which were covered with black curtains. From different corners came purring and chirping sounds, many of which Lilith had never heard before. Under the glass window facing the street, there were several animals that looked like cats and leopards, coveting the sunshine outside the window, sleeping with their limbs facing the sky.
As Lilith and Bella carefully looked around the store, the lady slowly walked down from upstairs and asked enthusiastically, "Do you need help? Freshman."
Lilith touched her nose, realizing that in the eyes of these old shop owners, she must be an ignorant new apprentice. She didn't say anything stubborn, and bowed and greeted them obediently: "Good afternoon, ma'am, can you give me some recommendations?"
"Oh, you are really a lady who becomes more and more beautiful the more I look at you. I saw you upstairs at first sight. You can call me Tessa." The lady seemed very satisfied with Lilith's attitude and smiled more enthusiastically. "For a lovely lady like you, let me recommend this to you--" She turned around and took out a cage covered with black cloth, and lifted the cloth in Lilith's expectant eyes, "The magic fire lizard from the Terra Peninsula in the extreme south!"
Lilith and Bella took a step back at the same time.
"Um - this -"
The big, leathery-scaled creature in the cage was almost as long as her arm. Lady Tessa had amazing arm strength, holding up the cage with one hand, and introducing it nonstop, "...Although this creature is a little slow to warm up, and may not understand that you are its owner, it has inflamed threads in its gill pouches, and can spit fire. If you cultivate it properly, it will be a good helper for you to make potions. It needs a higher temperature to survive, so you must keep it warm in winter..."
"Madam, are there any furry ones?" Lilith's face felt numb from being stared at by the fire lizard's big bulging eyes, and she interrupted Madam Tessa's enthusiastic introduction. "I prefer furry animals..."
Madam Terra put down the magic fire lizard helplessly, "I really can't do anything with you beautiful girls." Then she waved her pipe, and another cage hung high up flew down. She opened the cage cloth again, and a snow-white bird opened its eyes in confusion, as if it had just been woken up. It stared blankly outside the cage.
"Wow..." This time, Lilith and Bella came over and looked at this gorgeous and cute little guy. Madam Terra had a look on her face that said, "The mist owl is a native magical bird of the Gaia Empire. It can be found in many forests in the north and can grow to be very large. It doesn't have any special abilities, but it has feather powder hidden in its wings. When in danger, it can create a small mist, which will make people in the mist lose their vision and sense of direction... But because it can't distinguish between friend and foe, if the owner doesn't hide in advance, he will also get lost in the mist. It's not a good means of escape. It can only save its own life. So most people keep it just to deliver letters."
Okay, Lilith understood, this is a beautiful waste.
"...Sounds good. Is it easy to raise?" Lilith thought that it was useless, she didn't expect to be a beast tamer. She was responsible for supporting the family, and the baby only needed to be beautiful.
Madam Terra nodded. "It's very easy to raise. After all, it's a local creature. Mist owls don't like to make noises, are relatively quiet, and have a long lifespan. You just need to provide them with food and water." As she spoke, she casually opened one of the cabinets on the wall behind her, grabbed a pink mouse that had not yet grown hair, and threw it to the bird in the cage.
Dengdengdeng—Lilith and Bella took three steps back this time.
"Ma'am..." Lilith hugged Bella's trembling arms, "Do you have to feed this?" She watched the cute little bird raise its head and swallow the little mouse whole.
"When it grows up, it can be fed to adult mice." Madam Terra said as a matter of course, but when she turned around she saw Lilith's pale face.
"Hey, are you afraid of mice?" Lady Terra asked in surprise. Seeing Lilith nod, she put down the cage of the mist owl. "So I still recommend you to raise a magic fire lizard." Turning around again, she opened another cabinet and grabbed a handful. "Magic fire lizards only eat insects. Buy two pairs of cockroaches from me, and then you don't have to worry about feed anymore..."
She turned around and prepared to show Lilith the lively and robust cockroach - Hey, where are the people? When she looked up again, the two girls were already standing outside the door in the sunlight. Lilith's face was pale, and Bella was holding her and trembling all over. Lilith stiffly tried to force a smile, "Madam, I suddenly feel that raising pets requires a lot of patience and responsibility. I am not sure if I can take good care of them. I will visit you when I am ready."
"Eh? Cockroaches are easy to raise. All you need is some leftovers and..." Mrs. Terra didn't want to give up this deal. This girl looked very rich. She grabbed the cockroaches and approached them, trying to persuade them.
Lilith simply grabbed Bella and ran away.
