Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble

Chapter 401 Are You Willing to Explain?

Yu Zhen pushed open the door of the mansion, and the first thing that caught his eye was the bedroom door. The imperial physician just arrived? Why did it take so long?

He stormed into the room, pushing everyone aside. He was sure his hand had touched some kind of fabric, but it didn't matter.

"What happened?" Yu Zhen asked. He walked into the bedroom and slammed the door shut with such force that the walls creaked.

Yu Zhen was so anxious that he didn't care about these little things. Seeing the maid's panic and listening to her explanation, he knew something serious must have happened. And judging from the pale faces of everyone, his premonition was right.

There was no one in the room except the doctor, a maid, and the doctor's wife. The doctor's wife was curled up in the quilt, hiding her face and body. If her curled-up posture had not made the bed bulge, he would have thought she was asleep.

"Your Highness, there is a big news..." The imperial physician said worriedly, standing at the end of the bed.

He had just finished examining the Crown Princess, taking her temperature, pulse, checking her tongue, and asking some pertinent questions.

"Then tell me." Yu Zhen closed the distance between the door and the bed and stopped above Li Xueyue's curled up body. She didn't even want to look at him. As soon as his clothes were exposed, she turned around and looked to the other side.

"What's wrong?" Yu Zhen asked.

The doctor was a little puzzled. Why did the prince's voice change so quickly? Just now it was cold and had a taste of ultimatum. But now, the majesty in the prince's voice has dissipated, and the tone he spoke to the lady has also become much softer.

"Why are you hiding from me?" Yu Zhen teased, trying to pull her closer. He put his hand on her shoulder, but she twisted away.

"It would be best if the princess stayed here... after what happened this morning, she needs to rest."

"What happened?"

Yu Zhen finally noticed the wet marks on the quilt and pillow, and he was furious.

Without warning, the thick duvet was pulled off her body. She didn't even try to resist, just buried her face in the pillow.

Yu Zhen's face became even uglier. He lifted the blanket and reached out to grab her. But she rolled away from him.

He suppressed a sigh. What had happened to her?

"Your hair and clothes are wet. If you don't dry your hair and change your clothes, you will have a fever tomorrow morning. Don't be stubborn, come here quickly." Yu Zhen whispered, patiently touching her still dripping hair.

"Stop bothering me!" she yelled, her voice cracking at the end.

Before he could respond, she sobbed. "Please..."

Yu Zhen narrowed his eyes. How could he do this when she was like this? Li Xueyue looked like she needed him more than ever.

"Not until you tell me what happened."

Li Xueyue no longer responded. She still held her belly and refused to look at anyone.

Yu Zhen was a little disappointed with her behavior, but still covered her with the blanket back on.

"Go get a towel," he ordered.

The only maid in the room hurried out to get a towel. She wanted to dry the Crown Princess' hair thoroughly, but the imperial physician arrived first.

Before leaving, she closed the door behind her.

When there were only three people left in the room, Yu Zhen finally turned to the imperial physician. It was time to figure this out.

"What happened to my wife?"

The imperial physician lowered his head. This kind of news, no matter how common it was, was not easy to convey.

"The Crown Princess had a miscarriage."

When Yu Zhen heard the news, he was completely stunned and felt like a bucket of cold water was poured on him.

"This is very common, especially in the early stages, your highness. It is disheartening news, but rest assured, many women experience this."

Yu Zhen turned to look at Li Xueyue and slowly sat down beside the bed.

"Does it hurt anywhere?" he asked in a low and patient voice.

She said nothing.

Yu Zhen was unmoved. He would stay by her side patiently until she spoke. Seeing that she had no reaction, he turned to look at the imperial physician.

"Give her some tonic to strengthen her body, and then you can go."

Without needing to be told, the imperial physician walked away from the bed and went to the wooden box on the table. He began to take out the neatly arranged plates of medicinal herbs, and the aroma in the air changed accordingly.

"Strange..." he whispered.

Before opening the box, there was a strong smell in the air. However, the doctor did not pay attention to it at first, thinking that the familiar and unique smell came from the wooden box.

"Princess, please." The doctor said and turned around. In a second, he turned around again and faced the table. Even at this age, he still felt a little embarrassed.

The prince kissed his wife's forehead. It was a smooth, natural movement that must have happened many times before. Even so, it was too intimate for his eyes to see.

"Lavender..." he muttered to himself as he prepared the herbs.

The imperial physician put various medicinal herbs together, muttering to himself and observing casually.

"Jasmine..."

As he placed the dried dates on the parchment, he muttered, "Mint."

After a while, he put the herbs into several medicine bags. "I have prepared a week's worth of medicine. Please take it twice a day, Princess. Make sure to finish it. This medicine is for strengthening the body, removing blood stasis and stopping bleeding. I will come back to check on her condition in a week and adjust the dosage accordingly, Your Highness."

The doctor decided on a week, as this was enough time to observe her body's reaction to the medicine. If her condition was stable and there were no problems, he would extend the course of treatment and prescribe more medicine for her.

The imperial physician placed the medicine bags neatly on the table. After sorting them out, he began to put the plates of herbs back into the medicine boxes.

"Rosemary..." The imperial physician hummed as he continued to pack up. He felt as if he had forgotten something... What was it?

The doctor shook his head and closed the wooden box. He had been thinking about it for a while. Perhaps, it was time for his apprentice to start taking the level test.

"Your Highness, is that all?" the imperial physician asked respectfully, lowering his head.

The prince stood up from the bed and slowly walked towards the imperial physician.

"If the word gets out, you can hug your family goodbye."

The imperial physician swallowed his saliva. It was impossible to keep this matter secret, especially since so many maids had become suspicious.

"You'll leave here, mumbling something about how the cycle has begun and there's nothing to worry about. Got it?"

The old man seemed relieved. He nodded quickly, thanking me for the advice.

"I won't let you down, Your Highness."

Yu Zhen didn't respond. He returned to bed and prepared to accompany his wife. There were still many documents to be processed today, but she would come first.

The door closed softly behind him. The doctor had left.

"You heard what the doctor said," he said quietly, "This is completely normal."

Yu Zhen walked to the bedside, and this time he sat on the side where he could see her face. She finally stopped covering her face.

"Honestly... this is tough news." The bed sank slightly under his weight. He tried to comfort her again, this time, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"But it's okay. I don't mind. No one will blame you. They will never know." Yu Zhen's hand slid across her tear-stained cheek. She moved slightly. He thought she would avoid him, but Li Xueyue moved closer to him little by little, seeking his comfort and caress.

"It's all right," he whispered, "the news doesn't make me angry."

Yu Zhen lifted the blanket. "Now, let me help you dry off. Sleeping with wet hair and wet clothes is harmful to your health."

He touched her thick hair, which was sticky from the humidity. "You smell different. Did you try a new bath oil?"

Li Xueyue nodded slowly, "Yes... I——" Her blood ran cold.

She looked up sharply. "Was the doctor mumbling something? While he was dispensing the medicine?"

"He's old and sometimes talks to himself. Some say he'll retire. Don't worry."

Li Xueyue suddenly sat up from the bed, wiped her face, and quickly slipped out of bed.

"Where are you going?" Yu Zhen grabbed her wrist and asked.

He was surprised to see how quickly her mood changed. Her eyes were filled with anger, confusion, and pain.

"How could he not notice?" she asked.

"what?"

"Where is Xu Jiaqi?"

She spoke in circles, her thoughts confused. Her eyes darted wildly around the room, her face a frantic expression. She took a trembling step forward, searching for the maid.

Yu Zhen grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at him. He pulled her close and moved her hair out of her eyes with concern.

"Yangguang, you have to explain to me clearly from the beginning, what exactly are you trying to imply?"

"I... I don't know yet, but I have a guess. I think I read it in a book in the Li Mansion a long, long time ago."

Yu Zhen raised her eyebrows. Could it be poison? But that was impossible. She might not know, but she always let the servants taste her dishes before serving them. So far, the servants had not died, which meant that no one was stupid enough to poison her dishes.

A trace of panic suddenly flashed across her face. She grabbed his collar and pulled him down: "Where is Xu Jiaqi?"

Yu Zhen put his hand on her wrist, confused by her sudden strength. "She should serve you, so she should be outside--"

Li Xueyue let go of him before he could finish speaking, and pushed the door open, causing it to slam heavily against the wall.

The maids perked up when they saw her, but she paid no attention to them. She searched the room frantically, looking for the woman who wanted to die.

"She's not here."

Yu Zhen walked up to her and said, "I'll have someone bring her over."

"Do it now."

Yu Zhen walked to the door and waved. A figure jumped down from the ceiling outside, startling everyone. But when they saw that he was dressed in black with a small symbol on his chest, no one doubted his identity anymore.

"Looking for Xu Jiaqi."

The man lowered his head, and within a second, he disappeared into the distance.

Yu Zhen closed the door and turned to look at his wife. She was also standing at the door.

"Can you explain it?" he asked.

Li Xueyue shook her head. She refused to tell him unless she dealt with Xu Jiaqi herself.
