Yu Zhen was so concerned about Li Xueyue's actions that he was completely unaware of the sadness in his heart. He walked closer to her and clasped his hands. They had just lost what was supposed to be their first child... but there would be more in the future, and he was hopeful.

It felt strange. He had always been a pessimist, much like her. But at times like these, he had to adapt so she wouldn't fall down the rabbit hole.

"You haven't told me how you feel yet," Yu Zhen said.

Li Xueyue ignored him and kept staring at the door, waiting for it to open. After Xu Jiaqi explained clearly, Li Xueyue would consider the corresponding punishment.

"My disobedient wife," he called out to her, teasing her. His sarcasm always provoked a reaction from her. He was sure it would work.

But she didn't hear him at all. There was a flash of distress in her eyes, and she bit her lower lip. She was with him, but in her mind, she was somewhere else.

"Sunshine," he deadpanned.

Li Xueyue continued to glare at the door. She didn't want to explain to him, she just wanted to beat him up or beat him up. The truth of the matter was exposed, which made her furious, even overshadowing the sadness of loss.

She clenched her fists. She was going to make everyone pay. Everyone. No matter what happened, no matter what the consequences.

Li Xueyue knew it wasn't her fault. She was always aware of the risk of poisoning and was always careful to take care of her body. But external forces made it impossible for her to control them. These thoughts kept circling in her mind, echoing like temple bells. However, no matter how many times she tried to convince herself that she had done nothing wrong, a part of her heart blamed no one but herself.

"Li Xueyue," he said sharply, finally getting her attention.

"I'm sorry," were the first words she said.

Yu Zhen forced himself to be more patient with her. They had both suffered great losses, and neither was prepared.

"Why did you meet that girl?" Yu Zhen asked.

"Why not?" she argued, glaring up at him. What? Was he too unwilling to see his favorite servant hurt?

Li Xueyue frowned because of her impulsiveness. "When did I ever have such a dirty thought?" she asked herself.

"You have to be reasonable, little hamster—"

"Logical?" she hissed. "I'm totally lucid now."

"I didn't say you were crazy. I just reminded you that this might not be the best way to deal with Xu Jiaqi."

Li Xueyue snorted coldly, took a step back, and shook her head in disbelief. Unconsciously, her hand had touched her belly, as if more than one person was offended by his words.

His eyes immediately turned to her hands resting on her flat stomach. His scowl softened. "Sunshine, don't jump to conclusions so quickly."

She clenched her fingers deeply into her palms, and her eyes fell on the maids in the room. They lowered their heads and did not dare to make any eye contact with her.

“Everyone can forgive,” she said.

Li Xueyue could barely control her voice. It was hard not to sound frustrated when she was angry at the world.

They looked up, confused by her request. The maids shuffled their feet, hesitant to leave. However, one by one, they slowly left the room and closed the door.

There was a hush in the room, and the tension was so intense that it seemed like a knife could cut through it.

Yu Zhen tried to persuade her again - even though his mood was getting worse and worse. But at this time, what else could he do? Anger and screaming were of no use at all.

"You have to tell me why you asked Xu Jiaqi to come, Yangguang. I support whatever you do."

Guilt began to eat away at Li Xueyue's broken heart. Yu Zhen was always so considerate and patient, but all she did was take, take, take. She looked away with tears in her eyes.

Too much regret welled up in her heart. First, the pain of losing her child, and second, her temper and the fact that she always suffered at the hands of Yuzhen.

Li Xueyue pursed her lips. Perhaps she was really crazy and too heartbroken to respond to him.

"How is it?" he demanded.

Li Xueyue covered her belly, and let go the next second. Before the miscarriage, she felt nothing. Now that the child is gone... she feels even more empty.

“Am I talking to my wife or am I talking to a wall?”

Li Xueyue raised her head abruptly. Although his words were offensive, his tone was not. He tried to ease the atmosphere again.

"Maybe it's both, because my wife is as plain as a wall."

Li Xueyue couldn't laugh or get angry. She just wanted to curl up and have a good sleep. What kept her going was the motivation for revenge.

"You really break my heart. At least listen to my jokes, even if it's just reluctantly." Yu Zhen walked towards her and hesitantly grabbed her shoulders. Finally, she stopped.

"You should have a good rest." Yu Zhen's arm slid to her back and pushed her closer to him.

"The confrontation can wait. Your health is more important." Yu Zhen stroked the side of her face. She flinched, her lips trembling.

"Do not."

Yu Zhen was caught off guard and pretended to be hit by him. This time, his patience was completely exhausted.

Li Xueyue saw a flash of anger in his eyes. She trembled and put her hand on his chest. "I... I did that, don't be so nice to me..."

"what have you done?"

"..." Li Xueyue lowered her head, her mind full of what happened in the bathhouse. Her thoughts were churning, but her tongue couldn't move, and she couldn't even express her feeling of loss.

"Lose our baby?" he finished for her.

Hearing his blunt words, Li Xueyue pushed him away, but her hand was tight. "How could you——"

“That’s not like you,” Yu Zhen growled. He grabbed her chin and squeezed it hard, forcing her to look up.

"Remember who you are, Li Xueyue. Remember the hardships you've gone through to get to where you are now. Confused thoughts and trembling lips are not your nature. You are far more powerful than this, and you know it well."

His words were like a slap in the face. She glared at him. "Shouldn't I be feeling these emotions? Shouldn't I be feeling sad after such a huge loss?!"

"I'm not trying to control your emotions. I'm just trying to prevent you from going crazy."

Li Xueyue frowned slightly. Was she crazy? She didn't think so. "I just want to go back to bed and sleep for a few days... I don't want to see the real world for now."

Yu Zhen touched the back of her head lovingly, "If this is what you really want, I don't blame you."

Li Xueyue smiled faintly, "But not now."

Yu Zhen frowned. "Tell me what to do, and I'll help you. Don't get your hands dirty."

The smile on Li Xueyue's face gradually disappeared, and hesitation appeared in her eyes, like a high wall built around her.

"I already have blood on my hands."
