My Little Pony: Another World Adventure

Chapter 3 The Secret Talk of the Travelers

As soon as Latan walked out of the door, Ollivander immediately restrained the kind smile that was unique to an elder. His expression and body became as stiff as a puppet controlled by strings. He turned around and walked towards the back of the store without paying attention to the pile of wands on the bench in the store.

Ollivander pulled aside the dusty door curtain, walked past the tables, chairs, beds and benches that had been cleared aside, stood in front of the blazing forge, and quietly watched the boy who was struggling to swing the hammer to hit the red-hot steel ingot.

The boy was about eleven or twelve years old, with a very British face, thin lips, curly hair, and a thin bare upper body, but he could lift the sledgehammer effortlessly and shape the metal into a slender shape on the anvil with a fixed frequency of strikes.

Like a magic wand.

The boy put down the hammer and used the tongs to put the thin steel ingot into the furnace to reheat it. He turned around, lifted his hair and wiped the sweat off his forehead, revealing his heterochromatic eyes. He said to Ollivander, who looked completely absent-minded, "Did he buy my most outstanding work?"

"Yes," Ollivander said in a dull, flat voice, his light eyes lifeless, as if his body was no longer under his control.

"How interesting." The boy smiled, his silver-white left eye flashing with a faint light, and countless scenes seemed to appear in it. "A character that does not exist in the original book. Even my eyes of prophecy cannot see through his future. I can only explore his past. Haha, I really can't wait to see you in Hogwarts. Latarn Magnus... I hope the wand I make is to your liking."

-

"Why are there four major colleges? Professor McGonagall, what I mean is that although the four founders jointly established Hogwarts, shouldn't the rules that divide students and make them hostile to each other be optimized?"

Latan carefully sat on a chair outside Fusco's Ice Cream Shop, eating the chocolate hazelnut crushed cream ice cream that Professor McGonagall bought with her own money, and asked the Deputy Headmaster who was enjoying a strawberry sundae sincerely.

After leaving Ollivander's Wand Shop, they went to the herbalist to buy the herbs needed for the potion class. At the magic supply store, they picked out a pewter crucible, a scale for weighing herbs, and a foldable brass telescope.

Then, Professor McGonagall and the dwarf boss of the Lonely Mountain-Moria Tunnel-Mineral Sales Office argued for a full half an hour over a set of crystal vials. The debate ended with the victory of the Transfiguration Professor, who not only successfully won the vials at a relatively low price, but the dwarf boss also had to glare and buy a pair of dragon leather gloves for Latan that even half-blood giants could wear.

It was this bargaining that stunned Latan and made Professor McGonagall urgently need a sundae to moisten her throat.

After listening to the student's question, Professor McGonagall sat up straight and asked seriously, "Latan, let me give you an extreme example: if there is only one country left in the world, will the people of this country, faced with vast land and abundant resources, still think about continuously advancing technology and culture?"

Latan took a sip of hazelnut ice cream, thinking of the rapid technological progress of Muggles during World War II and the increasingly short, fast and powerful spells cast by wizards, and tentatively said, "If there are no enemies, then the level of a country should stagnate, right?"

"Well said, Ratan. Enemies, or competition, are the driving force behind the development of human civilization." Professor McGonagall nodded. "The reason why the four major colleges were established is to stimulate the competitive consciousness of young wizards, so that the level of students can be steadily improved in the competition. Hogwarts can become a world-renowned magic school precisely because of the solid foundation of the four major college system."

Latan nodded in understanding and said, "I am also curious about someone else. He also graduated from Hogwarts. His nickname is Voldemort."

Upon hearing the name, Professor McGonagall immediately lost color, her lips turned pale, and her whole body trembled. The other guests around were so frightened that they almost fell off their chairs.

"It's the mysterious man." She whispered through gritted teeth, "Latan, don't say his name."

"Why?" Ratan asked in confusion, "What did Voldemort do? Murder, arson, racism, terrorism? If his name cannot be mentioned because of these... Professor McGonagall, do you know the master of the Third Reich of Germany, Adolf Hitler?"

A muscle in Professor McGonagall's cheek twitched and she nodded slightly.

"According to the history I have learned, whether from the perspective of wizards or Muggles, what the Third Reich did was more horrible and cruel than Voldemort and the Death Eaters. But I have never seen anyone, whether Muggle or wizard, who is afraid to mention Hitler's name."

Except for Jews, especially Jewish wizards.

Latan added in his mind.

Professor McGonagall tried her best to maintain her composure and said, "Because Hitler is just a Muggle who doesn't know magic, and the mysterious man is a dark wizard that even Professor Dumbledore needs to be cautious with."

"Professor." Latan crossed his fingers and supported his chin, saying expressionlessly, "Can I assume that what you said is in line with Voldemort's theory of the supremacy of pure-blood wizards?"

At this moment, the expression of the hybrid giant did not look like a student asking a question to his teacher. Instead, it looked more like a Gestapo interrogating a prisoner in shackles.

Professor McGonagall's pupils contracted and her lips slightly parted. Her face was very stiff. She was silent for a long time before she relaxed and said, "You are a child who is good at asking questions, Ratan. I think Ravenclaw College will definitely welcome you very much."

"But I want to be in Gryffindor."

"why?"

"Because you are good to me, I want to help you compete with the other three major colleges." Latan looked into Professor McGonagall's eyes sincerely, and said expressionlessly and seriously.

Professor McGonagall laughed and patted Latan's hand: "Mr. Magnus, no matter which house you are sorted into, you are still my student. Promise me that even if you don't become a Gryffindor, you will study hard and be a good person."

"I promise you, Professor." Latan nodded solemnly.

nice guy?

What is the standard of a good person?

Can you become a good person by doing things that benefit the most people?

So if what I am about to do will harm the interests of some people but make the rest of the people live better, can I still be a good person?

Gregorovitch imprisoned me for eleven years. I despised and hated him, but as a wandmaker, he made great contributions to modern wand studies. Can he still be considered a good person?

Voldemort slaughtered non-pure-blood wizards, and also killed goblins and other humanoid creatures. He allowed wizards to know the magic mastered by humanoid creatures, which invisibly improved the rights of mankind. Is he a bad guy or a good guy?

I don’t understand. I don’t understand…

After all, I haven't read enough books...

With this doubt, Latan followed Professor McGonagall to Flourish and Blotts to buy the textbooks he needed for school.

Compared to when they came in the morning, Flourish and Blotts was still packed with people. Posters of Gilderoy Lockhart with his big teeth bared were posted everywhere. Wizards (mostly witches) were fanatically trying to get the freshly released copy of "Magic I" on the shelves, which made several young wizards who came to buy textbooks dizzy.

Latan heard a round-faced boy say to his grandmother with a sad face: "Lefo is missing again. It must have escaped when I was pushed out just now."

The old witch, who looked scary and wore a tall hat decorated with a stuffed vulture, sighed and said, "Neville..."

Professor McGonagall and the old witch nodded and greeted each other. Ratan saw that the boy named Neville turned pale all of a sudden, as if the Transfiguration professor would eat him.

"Who are you from the Weasley family?" The old witch looked at Latarn's red hair and said in confusion, "Why don't I remember Molly having a child as tall as you?"

"Mr. Magnus is an international student from Germany, Augusta." Professor McGonagall explained, "Latan, this respectable lady is Augusta Longbottom, and her grandson Neville Longbottom."

"Hello." Latan bent down, extended his right hand to Neville and gave a stiff smile.

Neville was completely enveloped in the shadow of the half-giant. His pale round face had now turned blue. He tremblingly grasped the tip of Ratan's index finger, his voice becoming shrill due to fear: "Hello..."

"Another foreign student, huh?"

Madam Augusta snorted very loudly and complained to Professor McGonagall: "Didn't a Chinese student come last year? The one wearing a white robe and carrying a sword, who insisted on cooking hot pot in Potions class, which made Severus very angry. And that American, whose name is Colt, wandered around the castle with Muggle weapons, threw grenades into the Black Lake to fry fish, and caused the Slytherin common room to flood. Do you remember, Minerva?"

"I made Miss Colt write a ten-foot-long apology letter and confiscated all her Muggle weapons." Professor McGonagall nodded. "I hope this will teach her a lesson."

"Excuse me." Latan picked up a fat toad from the brim of Ms. Augusta's hat and said to Neville, who looked surprised, "Is this yours?"

"Live!" Neville took the depressed toad with great joy. "Thank you, Magnus!"

"Keep an eye on it, Neville, and don't make me regret buying you a pet!" Ms. Augusta patted her grandson on the back of the head and said to Professor McGonagall, "Are you here to buy Lockhart's books too? Humph, I think this is a waste of money!"

Professor McGonagall smiled elegantly, "It's hard for me to disagree with you, Augusta."

While Ms. Augusta herself was using her vigorous skills to squeeze into the crowd of Lockhart's fanatical fans, Latan began looking for his textbooks among the bookshelves.

The Standard Book of Spells, Elementary is fairly thin, with an elegant lambskin cover, while the cloth-bound History of Magic is shockingly thick, and has the magical power to lull people into sweet dreams, both physically and through text.

Professor McGonagall spoke highly of the books "Magic Theory" for the Charms class and "Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration" for the Transfiguration class, calling them "stepping stones for young wizards to enter the magical world."

"A Thousand Magical Medicinal Herbs and Mushrooms" is a very large book, wrapped in a hard cover with wood grain, full of weight, and exuding a natural fragrance. "Magic Medicinal Potions and Potion" is a large black book with gold-stamped letters on the cover, which has a mysterious atmosphere.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is probably the most popular textbook for children. Even little wizards who are not yet of school age are fascinated by this large book full of illustrations.

In front of the bookshelf where "Dark Arts: A Guide to Self-Defense" was placed, Latan saw a witch wearing the badge of an Auror from the Ministry of Magic, who was reading the words in the book with a sad face. Her face with a widow's peak was wrinkled and her short hair kept changing color.

Latan had read about this kind of person, Metamorphmagus, who had a very rare gift and could change his appearance with his thoughts.

Perhaps noticing Latan's gaze, the female Metamorphmagus raised her head and made a face at the half-giant - she suddenly grew a pig's nose.

Latan nodded to apologize for his rude gaze, and walked towards the cashier's counter with the textbook in his hand. Professor McGonagall was already waiting there.

When passing by a bookshelf filled with profound magical books, a flash of red flashed across his eyes and made Latan stop suddenly. He turned his head and stared at the golden ancient Latin words on the red leather spine: "Le Dragon Rouge".
