HP: White Lord of Slytherin

Chapter 98: Substitute Teacher and Werewolf

After Halloween, Percy always followed Harry around, and Draco had no chance to ridicule him because not only Percy, but the professors also often kept an eye on Harry's movements.

In this situation, Harry insisted on training in Quidditch, but the school had no choice but to arrange for Madam Hooch to watch him during training to prevent Sirius from breaking into the school and finding Harry again.

Knowing this, the Slytherin players all looked unhappy. The first game of this semester was between Slytherin and Gryffindor. With Madam Hooch watching, it would be difficult for them to grab the court for training.

The Gryffindor team came to the Great Hall after finishing training. Draco, who was complaining about them, immediately stared at Harry, "Baby Potter is here, do you need the professors to feed you?"

Without the Gryffindor player having to retort, Percy stood up and said, "Leave him alone, Malfoy."

"You really scare me, the Head Boy—" Draco drew out his voice, full of sarcasm.

"I think Draco is right." Flint was already unhappy. "Madame Hooch is in charge of his training. He's a five-year-old baby. Will he fall off his broom?"

Percy stood in front, "This is what Headmaster Dumbledore wants, to ensure Harry's safety."

Flint knew this of course, and finally glared at the Gryffindor team and sat down.

Gloria forked the food on the plate boredly. She didn't listen to the argument between the two houses. All she was thinking about was what Sirius was trying to do. She vaguely felt that he was not looking for Harry.

A warm finger poked her cheek. She turned her head and saw Draco staring at her. "What are you thinking about? We were arguing so loudly and you didn't react."

By now the Gryffindor players had already sat down to eat.

Gloria said, "Thinking about Sirius and how he managed to avoid the Dementors."

"Maybe we'll know only after we catch him." Draco pushed the strands of hair behind her ears.

There were many such frictions between the two colleges. On the day before the competition, it rained particularly heavily, the weather was gloomy and dark, and the strong wind made the torches in the corridor flicker. When walking in the corridor close to the open air, the heavy rain came directly and wet the students' clothes, making them shiver with cold.

This class was Defense Against the Dark Arts. Gloria came in and saw that it was not Professor Lupin but Professor Snape.

I suddenly remembered that on a full moon night, the werewolf must have been weak.

The Slytherin students naturally would not ask why the headmaster was here. The Gryffindor students were curious but did not dare to ask. Snape's expression told them that he was waiting for the opportunity to deduct points.

Class started, but Harry hadn't shown up yet. Hermione and Ron kept looking at the door anxiously, but Professor Snape didn't seem to notice his presence.

"Professor Lupin is not feeling well, so I will be his substitute today." The professor paused here and said, "I have heard a little about Professor Lupin's teaching content, but I must point out that Defense Against the Dark Arts is a very serious course. It is not a fun and playful class where you can just deal with some simple gadgets..."

"Professor Snape." Hermione finally couldn't help it and raised her hand to interrupt Snape's words, "Professor Lupin taught us all kinds of defense against the dark arts seriously. We didn't play around."

"Ms. Granger." Professor Snape looked down at the brown-haired girl. "Keep quiet in class. I didn't tell you not to talk."

Hermione had no choice but to put her hands down. Gloria noticed that both she and Ron had strange expressions.

"Hmph..." Draco sneered and turned his head towards Gloria, "Did Potter know in advance that Professor Snape would be teaching this class, so he simply didn't come?"

She didn't think so. "It should be something."

After Professor Snape said that the previous lesson was too simple and asked everyone to take out their books, Harry finally appeared, panting and hunched over, "I'm sorry, Professor Lupin, I met him on the way..."

Before he could finish his words, he saw that the person standing on the podium was not Professor Lupin, but Professor Snape, the person he least wanted to see.

"Mr. Potter hasn't shown up for several minutes into the class. Ten points deducted from Gryffindor. Go to your seat."

The deduction process was smooth.

Harry didn't move, staring at Snape and asked, "Where's Professor Lupin?"

That look seemed to say, you poisoned Professor Lupin.

Professor Snape's black pupils flashed a light, "Not dead, sit down, Gryffindor will lose another five points."

Harry reluctantly went to his seat.

"It's been almost ten minutes since the class started and everyone is finally here." Snape said sarcastically, "What Professor Lupin taught you is too simple. Third graders should know more complex and dangerous dark magic and creatures."

"We think Professor Lupin's class is very good." Thomas from Gryffindor said bravely.

Professor Snape twitched a sneer at the corner of his mouth. "What he teaches, you should have mastered in the first grade. Today we will learn -" He turned to the last chapter of the book, "Werewolves."

Gloria had already turned to the last chapter and looked up at Snape. He was really trying to hint to the students in a roundabout way about Professor Lupin's true identity.

Draco raised an eyebrow and flipped the book back.

Hermione couldn't help herself and said, "But werewolves are the last thing we'll learn. Now we should..."

"I remember that it was me who was the professor, not you." Snape's voice was frighteningly calm. "Turn to page 394, now!"

Gloria leaned back and whispered to Hermione who was standing behind her. When she saw Hermione looking at her, she shook her head at her.

The Gryffindor student murmured quietly and opened his book.

After everyone had finished reading, Professor Snape asked, "Who can tell me the difference between a real wolf and a werewolf?"

Hermione raised her hand early, while the others were still in a daze. Seeing that Professor Snape didn't want Hermione to answer, Gloria raised her hand.

Almost at the moment of raising his hand, Snape said, "Miss Slytherin, you answer."

"Real wolves move on all fours, while werewolves can walk upright. Werewolves are much more aggressive than real wolves, and will not let go of anyone around them. If there is no one around, the werewolf will attack you. They will also respond to the call of their companions. Moreover, they can still remember what they did after the transformation after they recover, so it will be very painful."

Professor Snape nodded with satisfaction, "Ten points to Slytherin."

"Woo--" Draco watched Gloria imitating the wolf howl, causing the people around them to laugh softly.

Snape turned a deaf ear to him and started talking about the chapter about werewolves, as if he wanted to break it up and stuff it into everyone's heads.

He also started checking the homework assigned by Professor Lupin last time, criticizing as he looked at it, making the Gryffindor students feel that this class was very difficult to endure.

Finally, the get out of class was over. Professor Snape stood on the podium and said, "Everyone needs to write a paper on how to distinguish and kill werewolves. It needs to fill two rolls of parchment and be handed in on Monday!"

Everyone thought it was too much, and there was homework from other classes over the weekend, but the Slytherins kept silent.

Harry closed the book depressed, "I have a competition tomorrow, and I have so much homework that I can't finish it even if I write overnight."

"He did it on purpose!" Ron was furious. "Tomorrow is the match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. He must want to influence your mood and make his own house win!"

"Is this how Mr. Weasley slanders professors who teach normally?" Snape did not leave the classroom but stood next to Ron, which scared both Harry and Ron.

"Detention." Snape announced Ron's punishment. "Come with me and tell me the content of your detention."

Gloria shook her head as she watched Ron being taken away. She decided to wait until the professor really left before speaking.

"Do we really have to write that much?" Draco was a little unsure. Two full volumes were too much.

"Don't worry." Gloria said, "Professor Snape is just substitute teaching. Professor Lupin should be back on Monday, so you don't have to do homework."

Draco was relieved, and the other Slytherin students who heard this understood it tacitly. They packed up their things and went out in a relaxed state.

Slytherin House soon found out about Ron's detention. It was to clean bedpans in the hospital wing and not to use magic...
