HP: White Lord of Slytherin

Chapter 97 The Fugitive Who Intruded

The sofa that Gloria and Draco sat on was sent from Slytherin Manor. It had soft cushions covered in solid fabric and the armrests were engraved with the representative snake.

Not long after they sat down, two prefects from Slytherin College came in in a hurry. "Principal Dumbledore asked all students to go to the Great Hall. Professor Snape doesn't look very good. Something might have happened."

Suddenly everyone in the lounge was puzzled. They had just returned from the party, so why were they going there again?

Gloria was the first to stand up. "Didn't you hear me? This is the principal's order. Go to the auditorium immediately—"

Everyone started to move, and the female prefect said to another prefect, "I'll go to the girls' dormitory to take a look, and you go to the boys' dormitory too."

The two prefects split up and everyone poured out of the warm lounge and headed towards the auditorium.

There was constant discussion on the road, and Draco muttered: "What's going on..."

"We'll know when we get to the hall," Gloria said. "It's not an emergency. Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn't do that."

Everyone came to the hall with questions. People from the other three houses were all there. The Gryffindor students all had fear on their faces. They were obviously the first to understand what happened. Gloria looked around for Harry and the others.

After everyone came in, Flitwick and Professor McGonagall immediately closed all the doors of the hall. Everyone looked solemn, and the situation seemed very critical.

"An emergency has occurred in the school. The professors and I will search the entire school." Dumbledore explained, "For everyone's safety, everyone needs to stay here tonight. The prefects will guard the entrances and exits of the hall, and the male and female student chairmen will be responsible for management..."

These words caused the students below to murmur. Many of them had been in school for several years and this was the first time they had seen such a situation happen in school.

After Headmaster Dumbledore finished his explanation, he waved his wand and the dining table automatically moved to the side, and hundreds of purple sleeping bags appeared on the ground.

Draco kicked the sleeping bag with his foot. "For such a shabby sleeping bag?"

He swore that tonight must be the worst night's sleep he had ever had.

Gloria had already found where Hermione and the others were, and said to Draco, "Stay here first, I'll go ask what's going on."

Students from other houses asked Gryffindor curiously, and there was a lot of chatter for a while.

Gloria quickly came to Hermione. Harry and Ron looked unhappy. She asked, "What happened?"

Hermione grabbed her hand and said, "It was Sirius Black. He broke into the school and tore up the canvas of the Fat Lady at the entrance of our dormitory!"

The Ravenclaw students who also wanted to find out the situation took a breath when they heard this.

That terrible fugitive actually entered the school!

"How could that be?" Gloria was very surprised, "The school is surrounded by Dementors."

How on earth did Sirius avoid the Dementors?

"He escaped from Azkaban." Ron said anxiously, lowering his voice, "He must be here to look for Harry. Fortunately, we went to the Halloween party and came back late."

Harry stood aside with a serious expression, clenched his fists and said nothing.

No, that's not right...

"Everyone get into your sleeping bags!" Percy shouted, "No talking allowed, the lights in the auditorium will be turned off in ten minutes!"

Hermione licked her lips, "You should go back to bed first. Headmaster Dumbledore and the professors have already gone to search. When Percy comes, he will talk endlessly."

When Gloria returned, almost everyone knew that Sirius had broken into the school.

"How could he break into Hogwarts? Dementors are useless." Draco couldn't believe it and looked around for fear that the fugitive would jump out.

Percy was already on patrol, so Gloria simply got into her sleeping bag and lay on the side facing Draco, "This is wrong Draco, we were all at the Halloween party, and no one was in the dormitory at that time."

"It's strange, but he has been in Azkaban for so many years, maybe his mind is confused." The boy guessed.

Confused?

Gloria felt that he was not confused at all. He could talk to her freely the last time they met.

The lights in the hall were turned off, with only the ghosts emitting a little light. They were whispering something to the prefects, while Percy patrolled non-stop to make sure everyone had their eyes closed.

Gloria closed her eyes but couldn't fall asleep. Something was wrong with this matter.

Almost every hour a professor would return to the auditorium to report that no suspicious persons were found. She felt that many people were not asleep and were secretly eavesdropping on the professors' conversations.

·

When Gloria woke up, she didn't remember when she fell asleep last night. Draco used the sleeping bag as a cushion, sat beside her, and poked her soft cheeks.

"Are you awake? We can go back to the dorm and wash up."

Everyone slept in their school robes. Gloria opened her sleeping bag and rubbed her eyes. "Awake, what time is it now?"

"A little after seven."

Almost half of the people in the auditorium were awake and looking around blankly, still unable to recover from the shock.

"Our college prefect said that we found nothing last night and Sirius escaped again." Draco told her what he had heard in the morning.

Gloria said, "We must run."

No matter how surprised and scared you are about what happened last night, you still have to go to class.

After the morning class, Gloria asked Professor McGonagall for the password in the Transfiguration class and went directly to the principal's office.

When she arrived, Headmaster Dumbledore was handing a letter to an owl, and the owl flew out of the window with the envelope in its mouth.

"You came."

Gloria stood in front of the table, "Sirius, do you have a way to avoid the Dementors? Do I need the snakes around me to take turns guarding the Gryffindor dormitory? If you can do it once, there will be a second time."

"No," Dumbledore unexpectedly refused, saying, "Harry will not be in danger. The professors will keep a close eye on him this school year until Sirius is caught."

Gloria did not insist, "But I find it very strange that when he went to the Gryffindor dormitory during the Halloween party, he couldn't find Harry at all."

Dumbledore lowered his eyes, thinking about something, then stood up and said slowly, "Perhaps I am too anxious to find Harry. Thank you for your kindness, but it is not the right time yet."

"I see--"

The portraits on the wall were all very quiet. Phineas stretched his neck to look down. No matter how rebellious and a bastard Sirius was, he was still of Black descent.

"But there is one thing I'm curious about." Gloria said, "Why did the headmaster hire a werewolf to teach the Defense Against the Dark Arts class?"

Dumbledore finally raised his eyes, and a light flashed in his deep blue eyes. "Perhaps you are the first person who has discovered Lupin's identity besides the insider."

"It's not hard to guess." Gloria explained. "In front of the Boggart in the first class, he was most afraid of a silver-white ball. I also smelled the scent of wolfsbane potion on Professor Snape. He seemed to hate Professor Lupin very much, but he still went to him. He was probably brewing wolfsbane potion for Professor Lupin. Plus, the first day of school was not long after the full moon."

"Professor Lupin is indeed a werewolf," Dumbledore admitted. "He is also a student graduating here. But don't worry, with the wolfsbane potion provided by Professor Snape, he won't hurt anyone during the full moon. Besides, his teaching is excellent, isn't it?"

Gloria couldn't help but sigh that Headmaster Dumbledore was worthy of being a Gryffindor graduate and was very bold in his employment.

There is a thief in the first grade, a liar in the second grade, and a werewolf in the third grade. I really don’t know what kind of professor will be teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts class in the future.
