HP: White Lord of Slytherin
Chapter 13 Popular Science
Gloria frowned as the slug-eating spell Ron cast rebounded onto himself and turned into a slug-spitting spell.
The people in Slytherin were laughing so hard that they couldn't straighten their backs. Draco, who was originally pointed at by Ron's wand, changed his expression from slight fear to sneering.
Everyone around Ron was disgusted by the slugs, but the key point was that Ron was still vomiting and it seemed like he couldn't stop.
The sound of snapping photos rang out, and Colin said excitedly:
"Wow - can you take a picture of his face, Harry?"
"No, Colin!"
Harry said angrily, and he and Hermione helped Ron, "Take him to Hagrid's hut first."
Harry deliberately bumped into Draco's shoulder as he left.
Ron made a fool of himself, and Draco was still angry, but he did not give up practicing. He just looked at Gloria meaningfully.
Gloria did not leave to find Harry and the others. Instead, she sat in her seat at the stadium, quietly watching Draco flying freely in the sky. The gloom on her face gradually faded away, and she exuded the youthful handsomeness that only belonged to a teenager.
After more than two hours of warm-up, everyone was sweating. Due to what happened in the morning, Draco was not in good condition, so they decided to continue training after lunch.
The private clothes that Gloria wears are made of the hair from the neck of the Red Flame Dragon, and the fire magic continuously provides warmth.
Seeing the players all coming down from the sky, she left the audience and just as she reached the lawn, Draco, with a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, asked awkwardly:
"Cold?"
Gloria, feeling warm and comfortable, shook her head. "No, go back to the dormitory and wash up. I'll wait for you here. I have something to say."
Draco took a deep breath and gritted his teeth: "For your 'good friends'?"
"You'll know when you get here. I'll go upstairs and sit for a while."
Draco watched her leaving, and angrily returned to the dormitory with his broom. On the way, he thought that he would never go there and let Gloria feel the cold wind for a while longer.
On second thought, after the conflict occurred, she didn't look for Potter and the others right away, which meant that she cared more about him...
Draco finally arrived after more than ten minutes. He had just washed up and hadn't put any hairspray on his hair. His fluffy platinum hair made him look less arrogant, but his noble temperament couldn't be concealed.
"what do you want to say."
Draco had a sullen look on his face. The autumn wind blew through the audience, blowing his hair all over the place. Gloria's light blonde hair brushed against his shoulders.
"Are you cold?" Gloria asked him.
Through popular science books on magical creatures, she learned that the red-flame dragon had long been extinct in the eyes of the outside world, and that there were not many creatures with hair that could be used to make fire-attributed clothing, so she asked this question.
"It's not cold, hurry up and say whatever you want to say."
Gloria knew that the grudge between Draco and Potter was difficult to resolve, and she had no intention of blaming him.
"Did you know that Mudblood wasn't a term used to refer to Muggle-born wizards in the past?"
He didn't accuse anyone, nor did he speak for Harry and the others, which successfully aroused Draco's curiosity. "Who else can I describe?"
Gloria looked at the pair of gray-blue eyes with her silver eyes, and then laughed, "Your family has been in Britain for nearly ten centuries, don't you know about this?"
"You called me here just to make fun of my family?"
Draco began to get angry; his long-standing family tradition was a source of pride for him.
"Don't be angry." Gloria continued, "In fact, mudbloods originally referred to ordinary people without magic. The portraits of my family have always called Muggles that. As for Muggle-born wizards, they are called mud men."
Draco calmed down successfully. It was the first time he heard of such a thing.
"A long time ago, in the eyes of wizards of that era, Muggles were similar in nature to goblins and elves. They were intelligent creatures and were not their own kind at all, so they were called mudbloods. However, wizards would appear in their bloodlines. Even if they were mudbloods, as long as they possessed magic, they were considered half of their kind, so they were called mudmen."
Draco gradually forgot about the previous argument. "Father never told me this. He only said that Muggle-born wizards are mudbloods, with dirty blood."
"I understand." Gloria leaned on the guardrail, thinking of the family portraits. "Wizards are very rare and are favored by the world. Muggles are not considered dirty as long as they have magic. However, many wizards at that time still looked down on wizards of this background."
"And then?" Draco asked, "How did he become a Mudblood and a Muggle?"
Gloria used her wand to write two words in the air. "Look at the letters of Mudblood and Muggle, and you'll know they're related."
Mudblood: mudblood; Muggle: muggle.
"There is no shortage of wizards who are close to Muggles in any era. Especially when there are more and more Muggle-born wizards, after forming a certain influence, many wizards discussed changing the name of ordinary people who do not know magic from Mudblood to Muggle. Some pure-blood wizards resented this and gradually used the word Mudblood to refer to Muggle-born wizards."
Draco nodded appreciatively, "I would do the same if I were you."
"But the ancestors in my family portraits have always called Muggles mudbloods, and Muggle-born wizards mudmen, so when I first arrived at school, I thought Hogwarts still accepted Muggles to learn magic."
Draco was amused by her silly idea, and the previous tense atmosphere disappeared. Half an hour later, he was called away by Flint to familiarize himself with the tactics to be practiced in the afternoon.
Gloria was more than happy to do so. She turned around and went to Hagrid's hut to find Potter and the others. Ron kept vomiting slugs and didn't want to be seen by other classmates.
There were twelve large pumpkins planted behind Hagrid's hut, each half a person's height. Ron burped and spit out slugs from time to time. Hagrid was not here, he should have gone to the Forbidden Forest to feed the magical animals.
Gloria walked out slowly. "Sorry to bother you, but I thought I could be of some help, so I came here."
The three of them saw that she had mixed emotions. In the morning, Gloria had obviously been trying to stop Draco from saying insulting words, but she didn't find them right away.
Gloria walked up to Ron. The red-haired boy was still pale and sweaty. He looked terrible. She pulled out her wand and looked at him inquiringly.
Ron finally nodded.
Gloria cast a powerful spell to stop him, and Ron's face immediately improved and he stopped vomiting slugs. Harry and Hermione were relieved immediately.
"I know Draco shouldn't have scolded you like that, and I can't apologize to you on his behalf." Gloria slowly packed up her wand.
Hermione had a complicated expression. With the comfort of her friends and Hagrid, her mood had improved a lot. "I know you are different from him."
Harry couldn't help but ask, "Do you have to be friends with him? You and Malfoy are not the same kind of people."
Gloria put away her wand and said seriously, "He is quite special to me...but I think I won't scold you like that again in the future."
Ron was curious, "What? Malfoy will listen to you?"
"You didn't listen to me, you just said some little-known things." Given Malfoy's character, he would definitely show off this.
Gloria explained to them some scientific facts about Mudbloods and Mud Men. Harry and Ron seemed to be getting to know the magical world for the first time, but Hermione was a little surprised and guessed that even Professor Binns, who taught the History of Magic, might not know the whole story.
Then he lamented, "Gloria, I really don't understand how you could be friends with Malfoy. He has to pay to join the Quidditch team."
Gloria disagreed. "Actually, he didn't pay to join the team. I went to watch the tryouts. Although I don't know much about Quidditch, his performance was outstanding among the students who participated. It's just that Flint did use his privileges to make him a regular player instead of a substitute."
Hermione was silent for a moment, "So that's why he scolded me like that."
Harry and Ron didn't say much. In fact, it could be seen from the first-year flying class that Draco was very good at riding a broom. It was just that the Seven Nimbus 2001 was too ostentatious, and coupled with Draco's daily show-off behavior, it was hard not to be suspicious.
Gloria reminded them, "This matter has passed for the time being, but you have to be careful. Ron did use a spell on Draco. Even if Draco doesn't go to complain, someone else will. There are many Slytherin students who actively try to please him."
Ron was indignant, "This isn't fair!"
Harry clapped his hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry, we will help you."
Gloria was helpless. "At least you don't have to spit out slugs anymore."
