HP: White Lord of Slytherin

Chapter 11 Reconciliation

Gloria looked up at the moon, her profile bathed in the moonlight, which made Draco dazed, but she did not notice Draco's eyes.

"Malfoy, I only came to this school in my second year, so I didn't have time to make close friends. In the next few years, I didn't want to keep competing with people in the same college. They were not worthy. Potter and his friends are very close to me. I happened to meet them in the sky on my first day at school, and they invited me to chat in my carriage. Through this friendship, I also got to know Hermione. She is very smart and cute. Perhaps this is why she, a Muggle, can have magic."

"You didn't mention me in what you said just now, why?"

Gloria was stunned. He actually cared about this. Draco came to her side and stared into her eyes:

"Why didn't you tell me? What do you think of me?"

Gloria turned around and faced him. "To be honest, I never took the people in your group seriously, but you are different. You are Draco."

Draco's cheeks flushed when he was suddenly called by his Christian name. He didn't know whether he was angry or annoyed. He avoided her gaze and said, "You should..."

You should call me Malfoy.

"Can I call you Draco? Or Gloria if you like—or Lori."

"Lori..."

It means beauty and elegance.

Draco immediately decided to call her that. Whenever he saw Potter and his gang with Gloria, they always called her Gloria.

Gloria became more relaxed after being able to call each other by their Christian names:

"Honestly, I look down on all the second-year Slytherins except you. You are stupid and calculating. Even if you can recruit them, you still have to waste resources to support them. The key is that you can't teach them well and their strength won't be improved."

Under Gloria's sharp comments, Draco felt proud but also wondered if the others were really that bad?

"But the Potters are different. Harry has the reputation of being a savior. Hermione is smart enough and will definitely make a difference in the Ministry of Magic in the future. Ron may seem ordinary, but don't forget his brothers and sisters. You have always said that the Weasleys are pure-blood traitors, but each of them is very strong. Draco, these are the high-quality friends worth making. They are sincere to those close to them and will not cost me a lot of resources. They are also very charming, so I am willing to treat them sincerely. This is a win-win situation."

Draco is the only son in the family and is spoiled by his parents. He is proud, arrogant, and competitive, but that doesn't mean he is stupid. Gloria almost broke it down and explained the gap between the two groups, and of course he understood.

"The Sorting Hat didn't sort you wrong."

There was sincerity and weighing of pros and cons in this friendship, in typical Slytherin style.

Draco reluctantly accepted the fact that she was keen to make friends with Potter and his gang, but he still hated Potter and didn't want to continue listening to her praising Potter and his gang:

"What constellation were you looking at just now? It wasn't in the direction of Draco."

"It's about my father's zodiac sign. He was named after a zodiac sign just like you." Gloria said as she packed her things. "We should go back now. It will be hard to explain if Filch sees us later."

Draco was only sure that she was not looking at the Draco constellation, but he did not figure out what constellation she was looking at at the time.

"Your father?"

Draco helped clean up. Gloria never mentioned anything about her family. Others more or less talked about their parents, but she didn't.

"Yes, but for some reason I can't say more - so are you still mad at me now?"

All the tools used in the astronomy class were put into a small box. Draco helped her carry it like a gentleman, but he said in a very stern tone, "Of course I'm angry, because you won't break up with Potter and the others."

"Then let's make a deal. You have a conflict with them, but don't involve me. Okay?"

We have friends on both sides and I don’t want to be caught in the middle.

Draco's lips twitched, "Greedy Slytherin."

Gloria didn't care about Draco's meaningless accusations, she still had something she wanted to know.

"Although I was here for a short time, I can see that Zabini has been acting strangely with you."

Except for Crabbe and Goyle, everyone else would more or less subconsciously look at Zabini after hearing what Draco said.

When Zabini was mentioned, Draco's expression changed, and he felt awkward for no apparent reason. "Zabini's mother is very powerful. She had seven marriages, and each of her husbands died mysteriously. As a result, she inherited a lot of property and made friends with many pure-blood families, but she is still not comparable to the Malfoy family."

Gloria understood that the inheritance from seven husbands must not be a small amount, but seeing that Draco was still in a dominant position in the small group, she knew that the Zabini family was still a little lacking. The relationship between the two was probably similar to that between Pansy and Daphne, in which they were secretly competing with each other.

Draco continued, "Zabini treats Pansy well. The Parkinson family had a Minister of Magic in the 18th century. Although he was driven out of office, he still has connections. My mother told me that he should want to marry Pansy, but he never had the chance."

Gloria's playful eyes lingered on him. There was no chance because the domineering young lady was obsessed with Draco. Zabini wanted to move his family up the ladder through marriage, and Pansy happened to think so too.

"No wonder you two look so strange, it turns out he doesn't recognize your status."

Draco snorted disdainfully: "He also likes to have all kinds of girlfriends, even Muggle-borns."

Gloria could tell from his disgusted expression that Draco looked down on Zabini's behavior and was only doing it to maintain superficial peace for the family.

The two chatted all the way back to the lounge, where Zabini and the others were actually sitting on the sofa next to the fireplace.

Pansy stood up suddenly, looking at the scene in front of her in disbelief, "Draco! Why are you walking with this...!"

The complaining tone was like that of a wife who caught her husband cheating. Gloria held back her laughter, took the suitcase from Draco's hand, and patted his arm. "I'm going to go back first. You guys chat."

Draco grabbed her wrist, "I'll meet you here tomorrow morning. You need to go to the Quidditch pitch and watch me try out."

Gloria replied as a matter of course: "Okay, good night."

While the others were indignant or even surprised, Zabini's eyes were deep. This mysterious Miss Albert was very capable. Draco's dislike for Potter was obvious to all, but she was able to reconcile Draco in less than half an hour of being alone. Did she decide to give up on being friends with Potter and the others?

"What made you change your mind?"

What Zabini asked was what everyone else wanted to know.

Draco did not sit in his own exclusive seat, but supported himself on the sofa with one hand: "Because I realized that she is very Slytherin in some ways."

Thinking of Gloria's comments about these people, a barely perceptible sneer flashed across his lips.

There were no classes the next day, Thursday morning, so the Quidditch team used this time to hold tryouts.

Early in the morning, Gloria saw Draco riding a broom for the first time. He was so agile and every move was so easy.

Among the candidates who participated in the selection of Chasers, he performed the best and unsurprisingly became the new Chaser. In fact, he should have been a substitute, but because of the Malfoy family background and the other team members were willing to support him, he was made an official member.

Gloria sat alone in the corner, while the girls on the other side clapped excitedly. Pansy was the most excited among them, waving vigorously at Draco on his broom.

Draco came over here on his broom, and Pansy screamed, "Draco!"

But the person she was thinking about just flew past and stopped in front of the person she hated the most, and Pansy's face turned pale instantly.

"I succeeded!" Draco said excitedly while holding the broom tightly. "My father promised that if I succeed in joining the Quidditch team, he would give the whole team Nimbus 2001. Now let's see how Potter's Nimbus 2000 can beat me."

Gloria raised her hand to push away the hair that had fallen from his forehead. "Congratulations, but why do you need to use hairspray on your hair when you play Quidditch?"

Draco felt his ears getting hot. "As the heir of the Malfoy family, you must always pay attention to your image."

"Okay, but I think you might look better without the hairspray."

Gloria's compliments made him even more uncomfortable, "Let's go back to the common room and celebrate."
