Operation Red Book
Chapter 74 The Sealed Headless Horseman 1
"What's going on here!?"
Andrew and Edward came running up one after another, followed by some servants holding sticks.
Edward stood in front of his wife, while Andrew and the head maid supported Mrs. Emerson.
The pool in front of him suddenly caught fire for no reason. The mud at the bottom of the pool mixed with clean water was bubbling in the pool. The area around the pool and the statue of Duke Lucas Emerson were also stained by the splashing mud.
A large piece of mud as tall as a person emerged from the middle of the pool, and the orange-red flames rushed high, covering the tall marble statue of Lucas.
The mud gradually dispersed, revealing a middle-aged man with many wrinkles on his face. He was wearing a neat servant's uniform, and his red-brown hair mixed with white strands floated high along the flames.
"Vernon…it's Vernon!"
"The Vernon who disappeared for three years!"
The servants opened their eyes wide, pointed at the man in front of them and screamed.
Vernon put his hands behind his back, and as if he heard the shouts of the real world, he slowly opened his eyes.
Joshua had never seen such a terrifying man. His entire eyeballs were covered in black, and the dark black pupils were rolling around in the black eyeballs. Glowing black lines crawled from his neck to his chin and cheeks.
Vernon glanced at the people below, his black pupils trembling with excitement, and the corners of his mouth stretched to his cheeks, revealing a row of sharp fangs.
He stared at Mrs. Emerson and tilted his head. After a long time, he slowly spoke to her, his voice hoarse and unclear.
"Good evening, my dear lady. May I ask how His Excellency the Duke is doing?"
Mrs. Emerson was being steady by Andrew. She was also staring at Vernon. Her grief took over her mind and she was shaking all over.
Although she had a thousand words to curse him in her heart, they were all inexplicably stuck in her throat.
"Father died on the day you disappeared. He used his life as a price to seal you under him, leaving you no chance to continue doing evil in McMillan Manor!" Andrew shouted at Vernon on behalf of his wife.
"Oh My God!"
Vernon grinned, scorning his words.
"You must have a thousand things to ask me, my dear lady. What a coincidence, I also have a lot to say to you. Especially, about the good things your husband has done." Vernon continued to say to Mrs. Emerson.
Mrs. Emerson grasped Andrew's arm to steady herself, trying her best to maintain her posture.
She paused, trying her best to calm her fear, although her voice was still trembling.
"Fifteen years ago, you killed my daughter Cecilia, right?"
"Of course not. Your husband killed her baby daughter right in front of me."
Vernon let out a chuckle from his throat, as if he had thought of something funny.
"He summoned me out and wanted me to kill her, but I refused. I wanted a satisfactory price. Then a woman came and called out 'Cecilia! 'Cecilia!'"
"The voice was nearby, 'Dad!' 'Dad!' Cecilia screamed, and then your husband rushed over and covered her mouth, then grabbed her throat, and then! Then! Her eyes closed forever."
Vernon said with mock pity, imitating Mrs. Emerson's "ooooh" sound.
"'In that case,' I said, 'then just pierce her heart and bring her beautiful, pure soul to the witch!' That's what I said, and of course, he did it."
Everyone present had frowned brows and stared intently at Vernon and the statue of the Duke behind him.
"Did you kill those servants? Their heads were chopped off and their wounds were burned into charcoal by the flames!" said the head maid with a grim face.
"Of course, I am a brave knight. I always chop off heads with one sword on the battlefield and bring them to my monarch for credit."
"Those poor creatures, tut tut tut, most of them didn't know the truth. I didn't have to kill them, but I couldn't stand your husband's panic and anger every day, so I had to obey his orders and kill them all."
"Their souls are enough to feed me for several meals. After this incident, I realized that he really deserves to go to hell. The people in our hell may not be as cruel as him! Don't you think so, Lucas's bedmate?"
Vernon threw his head back and laughed, while Mrs. Emerson had already collapsed on the ground, covering her face and crying.
