Operation Red Book

Chapter 73 Searching for the Seal in the Manor

Another place illuminated by the moonlight was in front of the huge fountain in the center of the McMillan Manor. Joshua was standing on the edge of the fountain, sticking his head into the pool.

"Ah ah ah ah ah--"

Joshua was suddenly kicked hard on the buttocks, and his whole body swayed. He tried his best to keep his center of gravity, but his lanky body fell uncontrollably into the pool.

Joshua was soaked from head to toe, and he sat in the pool in a panic, with the water level reaching up to his chin.

"Mr. Holmes, this is very dangerous." Joshua looked helplessly at Holmes who looked smug.

Needless to say, he is the only one who could do such childish behavior.

Moriarty hurried over to the two men, reached out his hand and pulled Joshua out of the pool.

"I was taking care of something and saw you and Mr. Holmes in the distance, so I rushed over. I'm sorry, but that's just how he is."

Moriarty said guiltily as Joshua stood firmly in the pool. Although he kept saying that it was okay, he still felt helpless and annoyed in his heart.

"Mr. Holmes is the Napoleon of the criminal world..." Joshua kept thinking in his heart. This is too different from Conan Doyle's character setting.

"Don't come out yet, Joshua."

Joshua put one leg on the marble, and just as he reached the edge of the pool, Holmes stopped him.

"How did you find this place?" Holmes asked, lighting a cigarette and puffing away.

"I, I think the Dullahan is covered in flames, so the place where he is sealed should be the water that is most effective against him, so I came here."

Joshua stood in the fountain blankly, with water dripping from his sleeves.

"The interweaving of water and fire is actually a prediction in the Red Book," Joshua thought to himself, "It's easy to think of the two together."

"Is that also what brought Mr. Holmes here?" he asked.

"Of course not. I noticed something was wrong with this fountain long before I went in."

Holmes walked forward and flicked the ash in his hand into the pool. A whirlpool arose in the pool and swallowed the ash.

Joshua stared in amazement at the gradually disappearing cigarette ash, only to then realize that there was a circle of water slowly swirling around his body, and the backs of his feet were completely submerged in the mud.

"Don't worry, you're too big, and it will take some time for it to devour you. Since you're already in there, why not look for anything wrong?"

Holmes finished his cigarette with a few words and threw the cigarette butt into the water, which submerged it in an instant.

Joshua suppressed his nausea and bent down to touch the water. Because the pool was too big, Joshua had to bend down for a while before standing up and pounding the sore part.

This went on for a while, and after Mrs. Emerson had sent the carriage off, she came to Moriarty with the butlers and maids.

"What can I do for you?" the head butler said to Moriarty.

Moriarty looked at the brightly lit mansion and said to the butler in a low voice, "Draw all the curtains, don't let anyone out, and do your best to make the guests feel at ease."

The butler responded, and after getting Mrs. Emerson's permission, he quietly returned to the mansion.

"Madam, you..."

"I have a responsibility to witness this moment. I want to meet the person who has tortured me for 15 years."

Mrs. Emerson spoke earnestly, with not only tears in her eyes, but also firmness and seriousness.

After a while, Joshua felt a hard protrusion in the soft mud. He touched it carefully and confirmed that it was the hilt of a sword.

"found it!"

Joshua shouted excitedly, pulling the hilt of the sword out of the pool.

The sword looks like a medieval knight's sword and is very gorgeous in appearance.

Under the gilded hilt carved with a knight's head was a bronze blade more than a foot long. The sword was wide and long, and must have been quite heavy.

"Don't, don't pull it out, this might be the thing that can unlock the seal..."

Holmes was horrified and shouted to Joshua in the pool.

But the knight's sword seemed to have magic, blocking Joshua's ears and attracting Joshua to use all his strength to pull it out.

The golden hilt remains intact after being washed by the water, and the sharp blade shines with a colorful luster under the moonlight, making people marvel at the power of this knight's sword.

"what?"

Joshua finally reacted as if waking up from a dream after he had pulled out the entire sword.

He looked at the stunned people in front of him, and then he realized that he was holding the sword in one hand and raising it above his head, as if to declare the knight's victory.

Joshua, who had regained his consciousness, could no longer support the bronze sword with one hand, and with a "bang", the entire sword fell into the pool.

Whirlpools were stirring wildly in the pool, and Joshua's legs were washed by the whirlpools. The strong water flow made his body twisted and distorted.

"come out faster!"

Holmes and Moriarty rushed forward, and when Joshua lost his balance and was about to fall into the pool, each of them used one arm to pull him out.

As soon as Joshua's feet came out, the entire pool was filled with orange-red flames, instantly burning the entire surface of the water with bubbling.
