Harry Potter: Miss Malfoy

Chapter 24 Hagrid's Dragon

The Christmas holiday is over and the new semester begins in the miserable winter.

Compared to the excitement of the first semester, after entering the second semester, the freshmen began to slowly face the reality of magic school.

The increasing course load seems to remind freshmen that exams will be just around the corner once the second semester ends and after the Easter holiday.

As the semester progressed, the footsteps of students in Hogwarts Castle became heavier.

Fortunately, the professors seemed to have noticed the low morale and soon announced news that revitalized the campus—

The third Quidditch match will be between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.

With something worth celebrating, the freshmen quickly regained their joy.

The Gryffindor common room and the corridors of the castle were once again filled with gold and red flags and scarves.

Compared to the flamboyant Lion House, the yellow and black color scheme of Hufflepuff is much more low-key.

It seemed as if he had already made up his mind not to compete with Gryffindor.

This of course aroused the curiosity of many sharp-minded students, including Draco.

After a dinner, Pansy and Daphne followed Hannah and asked her quietly.

"Because Cedric won't be playing."

Hannah spoke mysteriously.

"Cedric?"

"Cedric Diggory. Our trump card."

Facing the confusion of the three Slytherin daughters, Hannah smiled brightly like the sun.

"He said that in the first match, he couldn't see Harry Potter's strength at all."

"It's no big deal to sacrifice a game and let him observe from the sidelines."

Seeing Pansy's expression of disbelief, Hannah lowered her voice again, as if she was sharing a secret.

"He said that Gryffindor only beat Slytherin by 110 points in the first match,"

"But Hufflepuff beat Ravenclaw by 180 points."

"As long as Hufflepuff can control the loss to less than 100 points, the difference between the two teams will only become 130 points at most."

"All that's left is for him to beat Slytherin by more than 130 points and then make sure Gryffindor loses to Ravenclaw,"

Hannah paused and narrowed her eyes.

Suddenly, she suppressed her throat and spoke softly in a low voice, imitating a male voice.

"Even if I didn't play, the point difference would never exceed 100."

"Potter, it seems, will be the main force of Gryffindor in the next few years."

"Sacrificing one game to find out his strengths and weaknesses can still secure the championship."

"A deal with no loss, why not do it?"

The left corner of his mouth slowly lifted up, he gently clenched his fist, and pretended to kiss the non-existent ring on his right index finger.

His manner was dignified, yet somehow, he carried a bit of calculating evil in him, and his clear eyes also flashed with cold complacency.

"H…Hannah…?"

Daphne spoke nervously as she saw Hannah become a different person, and Pansy took a few steps back warily.

"Hehe~ You learned it very well!"

"That's what Cedric told us at the time."

Hannah smiled sweetly and returned to her lively and cute self.

He gently took Daphne's hand and said with his tongue out.

"But how can he be sure that Ravenclaw beats Gryffindor?"

"Besides, how can we be sure that the loss will not exceed 100 points..."

Draco calmly bit his lower lip and asked softly.

“It’s a secret.”

Hannah winked and said proudly.

"But, regarding Ravenclaw, Cedric dropped a hint."

Once again, imitating the boy named Diggory.

"Ravenclaw needs a new Seeker."

"I'll give them an offer they can't refuse."

The determination in his tone made Draco shudder.

He exchanged glances with Pansy and Daphne, and clenched his folding fan.

It seems that besides Harry Potter, there are also people that Hufflepuff must pay attention to.

-

On the day of the competition, the Gryffindor students were very excited.

Draco's mood became increasingly unhappy because of all the noise.

The mission to explore Nicolas Flamel has hit a bottleneck.

Although he had Flamel's information, he also guessed what the secret was under the corridor on the third floor.

But I still don't understand what Quirrell's motive is for wanting to steal the Philosopher's Stone.

It is also unclear why Quirrell would risk casting a curse in public with the intent to kill Harry.

"Maybe the Philosopher's Stone can do more than just make people immortal or earn gold?"

"Could it be possible that...the Philosopher's Stone can enhance the power of dark magic?"

"Quirrell wanted to kill Potter in the first place, so that's why he wanted to find the Philosopher's Stone?"

"But why did he want to kill Potter?"

Discussions with Daphne and Pansy always ended up revolving around the same question.

What made her even more unhappy was that when she was trying to find the connection between the Philosopher's Stone and the Dark Arts in the library,

It was discovered by accident that Harry, Ron and Hermione also stayed in the library all the time, and even discovered Flamel's secret.

……

"See! That dog must be guarding Flamel's Philosopher's Stone!"

"I bet he asked Dumbledore to keep it for him, because they were friends—"

On a winter night shortly after school started, Hermione's excited whispers echoed among the empty bookshelves.

"A stone that can turn metal into gold and make you immortal!"

"No wonder Snape wanted it! Anyone would want something like that!"

Listening to Harry's triumphant declaration and accusations against Severus, Draco raised his eyebrows in displeasure.

("What a stupid inference! You totally ignored my advice!")

Thinking of this, the most infuriating thing was Harry's subsequent remarks and Ron's agreement.

"I said we could find out too. We don't need to rely on Malfoy at all."

"She must have just listened to Snape to distract us—"

Draco couldn't listen any longer, so he walked slowly past the bookshelf where the three of them were.

He gently raised his folding fan to cover his lips which had turned pale with anger, and spoke slowly with a cold tone.

"No need to talk about me behind my back, it's rude of you."

Ron gasped and Harry's eyes widened.

He deliberately avoided looking at Hermione's tightly narrowed eyes and glared at Harry.

"I will definitely uncover the truth about the Philosopher's Stone crisis before you do."

"I'll prove to you that you are extremely wrong."

"Then, wait for those of you who slandered me to come before me—"

"Bow! Your! Head! And! Apologize!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned his head and walked out of the library coldly with his hair fluttering.

……

Watching the noise on the Quidditch field, I unexpectedly discovered that Severus volunteered to be the referee of this game.

It soon became clear why Cedric Diggory was so sure that even if Gryffindor gave up the match, its chances of winning would be limited.

Severus, will definitely give Hufflepuff a lot of free throws.

At the same time, I also understood that he wanted to stop Quirrell from doing anything wrong.

But therefore, hearing Ron's loud rant about Severus made the mood even more upset.

"I don't want to watch it anymore."

After whispering a few words to Pansy and Daphne, he suddenly stood up and left the court.

"Hey!"

"Oops, sorry, I wasn't paying attention to you, Weasley."

Ignoring Crabbe and Goyle behind him, and the conflict with Ron and Neville, he walked straight to the castle gate.

My thoughts were in a mess all the way, and it was not until I walked back to the castle that I realized that Pansy had disappeared and only Daphne caught up with me, slightly out of breath.

"Pansy... Pansy said she was going to tell Goyle not to fight."

Daphne said this while panting, trying hard to maintain her image and not wanting to bend over or support her knees.

She just bit her lip, trying to slow down her breathing and catch her breath.

Draco took Daphne's hand and led her slowly back to the common room.

"Don't run. I just felt noisy and wanted to leave the court."

"It's not a big deal."

As he walked slowly, he gently patted Daphne's back and spoke worriedly.

After running around for a few minutes, her face had turned a little pale.

Daphne just smiled softly.

"Don't think I'm weak just because of the curse in my family."

Protesting meekly.

Seeing Daphne like this, Draco's mind was no longer on the Philosopher's Stone.

Instead, it was transferred to the Greengrass family, and the mysterious curse would only stay on the daughter.

It was not until nightfall that I heard the results indirectly from the Slytherin students.

Although Harry grabbed the Golden Snitch with his superb diving skills shortly after the start of the game,

All the students in the school finally saw the strength of the youngest Seeker in history.

But because Severus made Hufflepuff take seven penalties, Gryffindor only won by eighty points.

What confused the students was that the losing Hufflepuff players did not look depressed at all when they left the field.

Instead, he was in high spirits, as if he had already secured victory in this year's Quidditch Cup.

-

After a few more weeks, the campus returned to calm and there was no more disturbance.

After challenging Harry, Draco became even more determined to find the answer to the Philosopher's Stone.

Therefore, I felt even more frustrated about the lack of progress in solving the puzzle.

"I heard that Granger has already started preparing for the exam."

"It's too early! There are only ten weeks left..."

Daphne nervously shared the rumor about the library, which earned her a surprised reaction from Pansy.

Draco just turned the pages of the book out of boredom.

"Only Muggles would be that nervous."

Although I said this, I found myself somewhat dissatisfied. Somehow, I was still feeling a little irritated in my heart.

“Still can’t find it…”

“Maybe we are looking in the wrong direction…”

He closed the book dejectedly, looked at the title page of "Alchemy in the History of Magic", and rubbed his eyebrows in annoyance.

"Should we...go to the gamekeeper and wait and see?"

Daphne spoke softly, causing Pansy and Draco's eyes to widen.

"After Miss Malfoy, you have also learned bad things, Miss Greengrass."

Pansy smiled wickedly and Daphne immediately blushed and pouted her lips.

"I...I just...I just don't want to see Draco so upset..."

"And...and I got some good information there last time, didn't I?"

As she anxiously defended herself, her little dimple became deeper.

Draco glared at Pansy coldly, then turned around and looked at Daphne with a gleam in his eyes.

"Maybe, we can really give it a try."
