Harry Potter: Miss Malfoy

Chapter 21 Quidditch and Christmas Eve (Part )

Hogwarts began to be covered with snow in November.

The stone walls of the castle were soaked with dampness and cold, and a layer of hoarfrost covered them in the morning and evening.

On the corridor facing the castle's outer wall, cold wind poured in through the uncovered stone windows, and even through the windows blocked by thick stained glass, a hint of chill always seeped in.

The atmosphere changed drastically, as if forcing the students to stay in the lounge, and also making them look forward to going home to spend the warmth and beauty of Christmas.

The atmosphere among the freshmen at Hogwarts has also changed greatly with the change of school scenery.

Somehow, Hermione Granger suddenly became friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.

The academic performance of the two has improved significantly, and the three of them have gradually become the core figures of the Gryffindor freshmen.

Compared to Draco, Daphne and Pansy, although she has long been the focus of Slytherin, it is still difficult to get too close to her.

The three of them often mingled with the Gryffindor freshmen, and also brought together the cohesion of the freshmen in the academy.

This was especially evident in the upcoming Quidditch season opener.

Gryffindor freshmen have already started making various flag scarves.

Prepare to cheer for their hero, the youngest Seeker ever - Harry Potter.

Draco, who was supposed to lead the Slytherin freshmen to compete against Harry, always looked cold and uninterested.

After Halloween, Draco's attitude towards Harry and his three companions became increasingly indifferent.

When they passed by Harry, they still glared at each other. They still ignored Ron, but showed their displeasure directly to Hermione.

"I thought that after going through so much together, your relationship would be better."

Daphne said this with some regret and in a gentle tone.

Pansy pursed her lips and smiled evilly.

"Miss Malfoy has become a bad person. She keeps getting involved in such adventures."

"There won't be a next time."

Draco looked at Pansy with anger in his pretty eyes and pouted, and said firmly.

Pansy could only stick out her tongue, hugged Daphne tightly, hid behind her, and avoided Draco.

Escaping from the clutches of the three-headed dog and defeating the troll together did make Draco feel differently towards Harry and Hermione.

But he also reminded himself that he had not forgotten the argument with Hermione before the troll broke in.

She always remembered how Harry humiliatingly rejected her when she extended her hand on the express train.

If you have gone through hardships together and have established a friendship, you should not take the initiative alone.

Besides, looking at the new trio of Gryffindor, Draco couldn't help feeling uncomfortable.

Harry Potter, the legend of Britain's wizarding world, has really embarked on a path that he cannot understand at all.

Compared to himself who came from an ancient magical family, he chose to make friends with Muggles and descendants of fallen wealthy families.

This made Draco even more determined not to get involved in Harry Potter's ridiculous adventures again unless he was invited.

Besides, what happened shortly after the beginning of November seriously affected my mood, and I was in no mood to pay attention to the words and actions of the Gryffindor trio.

Severus's leg was injured.

-

"how so!"

In the Potions Professor's office, there was a girl's panicked and anxious cry.

"It's not serious, don't worry. And don't tell anyone."

The man in a black robe also casually let down the hem of his robe that was rolled up to his knees.

Draco frowned deeply, his face showing his daughter's displeasure at his concern.

When Severus noticed that he was walking with a severe limp during Potions class, he acted as if nothing had happened.

Finally, at Draco's insistence, he saw his bloody injuries.

"Is it the three-headed dog in the third floor corridor? Why did you go there?"

Severus narrowed his eyes and said nothing. Draco could only stare back quietly.

My mind couldn't help but recall the late night when I broke into the third floor corridor.

I also remembered seeing Professor Quirrell's back shortly after leaving the restaurant at Halloween dinner.

It was as if Severus' gaze was forcing him to remember.

It wasn't until Severus looked away that Draco's mind broke away from the memory.

Severus fell into deep thought, his face pale from enduring pain.

Then, he spoke slowly and hesitantly.

"That's what I promised Professor Dumbledore."

"but..."

After a long pause, he asked the question slowly, his dark eyes flashing.

"Draco, what I'm going to say next is our secret, okay?"

After making sure Draco nodded, he spoke slowly.

"If Granger was trapped in the third floor corridor, would you save her?"

He looked at Severus in confusion and nodded again without hesitation.

"Even though, she is of Muggle descent?"

Severus asked again, but Draco only became more confused.

"I do not understand-"

He wanted to ask further, but Severus interrupted himself.

"You don't like Muggles getting a wizarding education, do you?"

He raised an eyebrow, almost arguing with himself.

Draco took a deep breath and explained hastily.

"But that has nothing to do with watching them get killed!"

"I just...just because the Muggles have been bullying us."

"We still have to live in hiding from Muggles."

"Why should we be kind to the Muggles' children when they treat us like this?"

Then, he watched Severus narrow his eyes again and stare at him with a strange expression.

It seemed as if he was seriously observing and thinking about the personality of this girl whom he had cared for since birth.

There was a long silence, and Draco felt that Severus's gaze seemed to see through his soul.

Finally, he blinked, relaxed his frowning brows, and raised the corners of his mouth slightly.

"In that case, please keep an eye on Professor Quirrell for me, Draco."

"Just keeping an eye out for anything that seems off about him. I don't want you following him."

Severus suddenly spoke without any clue, and Draco fell into deeper confusion.

But after hearing Severus' next words, he decided to temporarily put aside his irrelevant question -

"It was Quirrell who caused me to enter the third floor corridor."

-

The opening match of the Quidditch season is fast approaching.

Gryffindor students, both old and new, gathered at the Quidditch field early, looking forward to the appearance of their secret weapon.

The Slytherin freshmen were like headless flies, at a loss as to what to do.

Draco, Pansy and Daphne did not throw themselves headfirst into the atmosphere of the game.

Because Harry was selected for the Gryffindor team as an exception,

Draco's past argument with him during their first flying lesson was exaggerated and promoted around the campus as a pre-match story.

This dealt a further blow to Slytherin's morale before the game started.

"Did you hear that Miss Malfoy seemed to have a duel with Harry Potter in the first flying lesson?"

Yes, I heard her flying skills are superb too."

"Then why doesn't Miss Malfoy play for the Quidditch team? If she were -"

"Shh! Keep your voice down!"

"Perhaps Miss Malfoy despises the shabby grounds of the school..."

"Or look down on the others on the team...?"

Similar whispers would always float in the corners of the lounge, but Draco didn't take them seriously.

The daughter of the Malfoy family is naturally subject to all kinds of rumors and speculations.

Although I don't like it, there is no need to clarify one by one -

Doing so will only make you appear narrow-minded.

What he cared about was Severus's order.

As he walked slowly toward the court with Pansy and Daphne, he announced the big decision to the two of them.

"Are you really determined to do this?"

"Uncle Lucius will be very sad..."

When Pansy and Daphne heard about their decision to stay in school for Christmas, their reactions were as expected.

"I'm going to tell Dad."

"Severus is injured and I don't want him to be alone in school during the holidays."

Draco said softly.

The handwriting of my father's reply was a little heavy, but the content of the letter was full of the satisfaction and pride of being a father.

Praising Draco for being so caring towards his godfather-like friend.

"You probably also want to take this opportunity to carry out his secret mission, right?"

Pansy stroked her chin and guessed seriously.

"Don't tell Mom and Dad."

Draco nodded and smiled.

"I guess the three-headed dog stepping on the secret door must be protecting some secret."

"And then, Quirrell tried to steal the contents."

He said this with confidence, even though it was just a guess.

Severus did not deceive himself.

Since he said that he was injured because of Professor Dumbledore, he also said that it was Quirrell who made him walk into the secret door on the third floor.

It is not difficult to infer that Quirrell wanted to steal the secret of the corridor on the third floor.

Severus was so cautious because he followed Professor Dumbledore's instructions.

That's why Quirrell framed him.

"Although the violation is terrible, but...we..."

"We can help."

Daphne was a little nervous but spoke with determination.

"If that's the case, we can't stop Quirrell."

"However, you can help investigate what he wants to steal."

Pansy spoke calmly, without a moment of playfulness.

Draco looked at the two of them, smiled, and hugged them tightly on the snow-white grass.
