HP: Hogwarts Snake
Chapter 416 The Insulted Lover
Where the newspapers had reported rallies, there was no longer any outrage, only a mess to be cleaned up.
Della walked into the old brick house and saw several middle-aged men with red noses and big beards arranging tilted and scattered tables and chairs. Some of them had scars on their faces, and some had injuries on their hands and legs. There was also a lady in an apron sweeping the floor intently. Following her patched apron downwards, she saw several children diligently wiping the wooden table.
Their clothes were all gray and obviously worn out. Compared with the ragged Muggles Della saw outside, their only advantage was that they were in good condition.
But under such circumstances outside, this is also rare.
Della glanced at everyone, nodding slightly to show respect for their work even though they couldn't see her, then tiptoed around to the path behind the wooden platform.
After walking around and taking two more steps, you will be out of the house. You can see a lower and smaller house ten meters away. The newspaper said that this is the office where Dmitry chats with some people.
Della peeked through the wire window and saw only a blurry figure. Although blurry, his shoulders, which were broader than most people's, immediately indicated that this was Dmitri.
After confirming that the target person was here, Della first straightened her clothes, and then with the help of magic, she knocked on the door so that only Dmitri inside could hear it. Because she had actually made up her mind to see him, after knocking on the door as a gesture of courtesy, she directly pushed open the door that was unlocked by magic at the same time.
After opening the door, the smell of alcohol hit me in the face, so strong that it choked me with just one breath.
Della frowned subconsciously. She looked at Dmitri, who was looking towards the door following the noise, and spoke first, "Long time no see, Isaev."
"Riddle—" Dmitri's cheeks turned red under the influence of alcohol, but his eyes were still clear. He looked at Della, who had been missing for a year, in surprise. "Why are you here?"
"I'd like to seek some help," Della waved her hand, dispelling the unpleasant smell of alcohol. "Do you know how to get into Durmstrang?"
She walked towards Dmitri who was sitting behind the desk, pulled out the chair in front and sat down, looking at Dmitri carefully through a few empty bottles.
"Do you still want to disappear?" Dmitri put down the half-drunk wine in his hand, surprisingly calm. "I am willing to help you, Riddle. I know you have always been a reasonable person. Sadolin also said that you are actually a very gentle person."
"Yes, I'll be missing for a while," Della admitted to the first question. She looked at Dmitri, the alcoholic, who was completely different from the stoic and sober image in the newspapers, and her eyes flashed. "Are you able to mention Sadolin calmly now?"
"Until a month ago, I couldn't," Dmitri said. He raised his head and eyes, his throat rolled, and he slowly blinked and exhaled, releasing his pent-up emotions. "But last month, that Riddle, just as he said a year ago, sent me a part of Sadolin."
"A part of Sadolin?" Della frowned, her expression becoming serious. "Let me see."
"A wand made from her spine," Dmitri even uttered a sound that resembled laughter. He was already driven mad by the torture of his lover who was not only dead but also insulted. "It contains the cause of her death."
The milky white basilisk bone wand was taken out from the drawer closest to Dmitri and handed to Della. Dmitri turned his head and took another big sip of wine. Della looked at the wand carefully.
There was no mistake. Although the appearance had changed a little due to being worn away, every little detail was exactly the same. This was the one she made for Maggie, and it definitely wasn't made for Sadolin's current body.
But, well…it feels lighter and emptier.
Della injected magic power and tried it, and sure enough, the core of the wand was empty.
Strange, why would Maggie give up this wand?
They gave up on it so completely, to the point that it became a defective product that disgusts people.
After turning the wand in her hand again, Della saw a small line of words engraved on the wand.
【Dedicated to the lover for whom she gave her life】
It's as lingering as love words, but full of irony, just trying to drive people crazy.
"On that day," Della suddenly said, "what did Sadolin do before she died?"
She discovered that Maggie's malice towards Sadolin and Dmitri was excessive.
"She almost killed him," Dmitri covered his face with his hands and sighed regretfully, "She was just a little bit away from piercing his heart."
Even though Della heard these words when Maggie was still alive and well and still had the energy to disgust people, her heart still ached.
After that brief heart palpitation, she also sighed deeply in her heart.
Sure enough, she still couldn't resent him wholeheartedly.
Della didn't comment on Dmitri's regret. She gently weighed the basilisk bone wand in her hand and asked, "Did anything else happen that day that involved the wand?"
Dmitri looked at Della intently. He asked curiously, "Do you know or not?"
Every question Della asked hit the nail on the head. Even if Dmitri had a good temper, his emotions had been stretched to the limit. Now that he was forced to recall that painful day again and again, he began to suspect that Della was deliberately exposing his scars and torturing him.
"Maggie lied to you. This is the original wand, made by me. I recognize it. If he really had Sadolin's body in his hands, he probably didn't destroy it," Della explained. "And from my point of view, his behavior of giving this wand away so easily is very unusual."
"No..." Dmitri murmured, his shoulders relaxed a little, but there was no trace of relief between his brows, instead his sorrow became even thicker.
He collected his emotions and slowly spoke of the two unusual phenomena that day. "On that day, not only did Riddle attack me, but Voldemort also attacked Harry Potter..."
The two failures of the strong against the weak actually point to the problem of the wand abnormality.
Della silently took note. She looked at Dmitri's scowl and asked softly, "Regarding Sadolin, have you heard anything about her since the tournament?"
"The ice sculpture in the living room," Dmitri closed his eyes in pain. "There's news that she's a work of art on display in Riddle's living room."
An ice sculpture? The body should still be intact. If Sadolin is wearing the ring that can cause her to fall into suspended animation...
Della actually had a hunch that Maggie knew Sadolin was still alive, but seeing Dmitri's despair, she didn't dare to give too much hope and only said, "I will come back eventually, and then I will return Sadolin to you."
"Can you?" Dmitri's voice broke. He covered his face with his hands and lowered his head, tears falling between his fingers. "Thank you, thank you..."
