Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 48 Quidditch and the Professors
Chapter 48 Quidditch and the Professors
This was undoubtedly a terrible Saturday.
Harry didn't get a good night's sleep and had a nightmare in the morning, but he still had to get up early to practice Quidditch.
At 11:00 a.m., all the teachers and students began to head to the Quidditch Stadium.
The weather today is rather muggy and humid, with distant rumbles of thunder in the sky.
Harry greeted Ron and Hermione, who rushed over to wish him good luck, then suddenly snapped back to reality and said to Ron:
"Remember to tell Hermione about that!"
"Dude, today is an important day, let's not think about that now, okay? I'll talk to her later."
Ron gave Harry a pep talk and quickly left.
Harry was a little annoyed by his nonchalant attitude and subconsciously glanced towards the audience where the professors were. Professor Levi was standing there expressionless.
The shadow of yesterday's nightmare had not yet faded, and Harry felt fear just looking at him.
Meanwhile, in the teachers' stands, Snape was talking to Levi.
"I didn't expect you to be here to watch a Quidditch match?"
His voice was calm, devoid of the mockery that usually lingered there.
"Yes, my mindset has changed a bit recently."
Amidst the deafening cheers, Li Wei watched as the fourteen Quidditch players soared into the leaden sky, followed immediately by Harry, who drew everyone's attention with the highest flight altitude.
It must be said that he was quite dazzling when playing Quidditch, and he did have the aura of someone worthy of the honor of 'savior'.
"How fresh—as if anyone will never change."
Snape's eyes gleamed as he stared intently at the Quidditch pitch, ignoring Levi.
"You'll never change, will you?"
"."
Snape turned his head slightly and caught a glimpse of Levi standing tall, still watching the game on the field, as if he had just casually uttered that sentence.
He suddenly realized that Levi seemed to be really different since his last conversation with Dumbledore. When had this guy ever spoken to him in such a conversational manner?
Recalling what he had said yesterday, a certain thought began to stir in Snape's mind. "Don't think you know me well."
He first made himself look impressive.
Li Wei ignored him; the voice of Quidditch commentator Lee Jordan dominated the stands.
"The Slytherin team is far ahead, currently 60-0! I heard they somehow got hold of a batch of super brooms."
Clearly, they got a huge advantage in the flight; this was an unfair victory for Professor McGonagall! "I understand."
The commentator, whose stance was clearly biased, became quiet after being warned by his own dean.
Snape, upon hearing Lee Jordan's words, was not angry at all; in fact, his mood improved somewhat.
Seeing that Li Wei didn't respond, he thought for a moment, then coughed lightly and asked:
How long do you plan to stay at Hogwarts for this teaching assignment?
"I don't know—maybe a year, maybe a few years—but it's not up to me to decide."
"I might be lucky if I can just pack up and leave safely at the end of the year."
"Isn't that just a legend? You actually believe it?"
"Legend? More than thirty professors have taken turns in this position before me. Do you want me to attribute all of this to mere coincidence?"
Rather than believing this, I prefer to understand it as the result of a combination of magic and human intervention.
"As far as I know, many Defense Against the Dark Arts professors didn't fare well after leaving Hogwarts. Many of them quietly died in some unknown corner within a few years—I suspect this is related to those Death Eaters who remained loyal to Mystic." Snape clicked his tongue in annoyance after hearing Levi's analysis.
If it were him, he certainly wouldn't believe in this curse, after all, he himself is a Death Eater.
However, since it was Li Wei who was facing the curse at this moment, he could not ignore the existence of the spell.
Therefore, it's best to assume for now that he can only work with Li Wei for one academic year.
"Rumble--"
With the rumble of thunder, the rain intensified, and the match entered an increasingly crucial phase.
The Gryffindor team has only scored 10 points so far, while the Slytherin team has already scored 120 points thanks to the Malfoy family providing a brand new Nimbus 2001.
If they score a few more points, even if Harry manages to snatch the Golden Snitch, he won't be able to turn the tide.
Snape's mood improved even more.
However, this good mood quickly vanished—the Golden Snitch, the most crucial element of the entire match, was just inches above Malfoy's left ear, but he was completely unaware of it.
Harry had already charged towards Malfoy—Snape's smile vanished completely.
Through the misty rain, Harry reached out and grabbed hard under everyone's watchful eyes—his fingers gripped the Golden Snitch, while the flying broomstick between his feet plummeted straight to the ground!
With a bang, water splashed everywhere.
Everyone crowded around, and Harry excitedly raised one hand high—the Golden Snitch was firmly gripped in his left hand.
"A spectacular comeback! Harry Potter! Our savior has once again saved the Gryffindor team!"
Lee Jordan's voice echoed throughout the arena.
"What an idiot! He's so busy mocking the enemy that he doesn't even understand the situation around him!"
Snape was clearly not satisfied with Malfoy's performance and muttered a curse under his breath.
He then glanced at Li Wei casually—he vowed that if the other dared to mock him even by a single word, he would leave immediately.
What struck Snape as odd was that Levi wasn't looking at him or Harry on the field, but rather at Professor McGonagall—he'd been watching her ever since he'd noticed Harry's signs of turning the tide a minute ago.
"We don't usually see Professor McGonagall like this, do we?"
Following Li Wei's gaze, she was cheering and clapping with joy because the Gryffindor team had won, and the smile on her face was impossible to hide.
Looking at Professor McGonagall like this, Li Wei felt that the other person's image had suddenly become much more vivid in his mind, no longer just a pen pal with whom he exchanged texts.
He seems to be increasingly understanding what Dumbledore meant by "moment".
"Cough—Li Wei."
Just as he was quietly thinking, Snape's voice suddenly rang out again.
"What's wrong, Snape?"
“Look at him.”
Li Wei followed his gaze and saw Harry being surrounded by the crowd in the center, being tossed high into the air repeatedly.
"Students these days are getting worse and worse. The slightest achievement can make them so arrogant and complacent."
"They're just celebrating, aren't you being too sensitive?"
Snape, stung by his retort, momentarily forgot his original purpose. He abruptly turned and glared at Levi, then took a step closer, gritting his teeth as he said:
"Speaking of which—our college clearly lost, but you seem quite happy? Do you even understand which side you should be on?"
"middle."
