Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor

Chapter 49 Snape's Invitation

Chapter 49 Snape's Invitation

Are you still thinking clearly?

Snape's cheeks twitched, looking both angry and speechless.

"I think you're not thinking clearly. Although I'm a Slytherin student, I'm also a professor to all four houses. I'll be happy no matter who wins."

"I can't tell you're happy from your face."

Snape muttered something, then turned his attention back to his original goal, deciding not to argue with Levi any further.

"Li Wei, do you know you owe me one?"

"How come I didn't know about this?"

Li Wei frowned and thought for a moment, but he didn't feel that he owed Snape anything—if he had to put it into words, Snape owed him a favor, right?
“The position of Defense Against the Dark Arts was originally mine!” Snape said, sounding somewhat indignant. “Dumbledore gave you the position that was rightfully mine because of your existence. You stole the position that was rightfully mine.”

"Snape, are you insane?"

Even Li Wei was amused by him.

Is this a new type of staged accident scam in the magical world?
He was appointed professor normally, so how did Snape come to say that he stole his position?

"What, you won't admit it?"

"Do you think I'm stupid?" Levi looked at Snape with disdain. "Dumbledore would never let you be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Do you think I don't know that?"

Seeing that he had failed to intimidate Levi, Snape's face immediately darkened.

He didn't know what consensus Dumbledore and Livy had reached, which made him feel very insecure.

What did you and Dumbledore talk about?

"I'm afraid this has nothing to do with you. Well, if there's anything you want me to do, just say so."

"Considering our past friendship as classmates, I'll consider helping you. You don't need to go through all this trouble."

Snape glanced at Levi with some surprise upon hearing this—when did this guy become so easy to talk to?

He changed his mind after just one conversation with Dumbledore? Could he have been brainwashed by that treacherous fellow?
Snape's expression shifted, and he decided to put the matter aside for the time being.

"very good."

He suddenly became very serious, even straightening his clothes.

No matter how he tidies himself up, once his hair is greasy enough to fry vegetables, he looks rather slovenly.

"As I just told you—the students' level is getting worse and worse; they simply can't understand what real magic is."

Having taught these little monsters for almost three months, you've probably come to this realization by now, haven't you?

“We should start a club, a place that truly teaches the art of combat, where you and I can teach those fools something of real value! Let them see what a real wizard duel is all about.”

"A duel club, huh?"

Li Wei hesitated for a moment, then agreed.

According to the original plan, he certainly didn't want to cause any unnecessary trouble.

But now that he has decided to devote all his energy to his teaching career for the time being, Snape's suggestion is just right.

"Okay, I'll talk to Professor McGonagall about it."

"You go?"

Snape suddenly chuckled.

Both because he had already achieved his goal, and because Levi cared about Professor McGonagall—"Professor McGonagall would probably rather see me than you right now, so I'll go. You just need to agree to this."

After saying that, he lightly waved his wizard's robe and quickly left, his attitude much better than last time.

"Don't want to see me? Didn't Dumbledore say he would explain things to me?" Li Wei frowned slightly, then quickly realized something—the headmaster probably made a good promise to him, but Professor McGonagall gave a different story.

After all, he still needed to keep the basilisk as a trial for a student, and he also needed to find two victims—I doubt he would dare tell Professor McGonagall about such things.

"Old Bee".

Li Wei couldn't help but mutter to himself.

Just then, the house-elf Barton suddenly appeared beside him, his usually calm expression now appearing somewhat serious.

"Master, something happened that I need to report to you."

"Barton? What's wrong with you?"

Levi sensed the magic flowing through him and guessed that he had probably been fighting somewhere. But this was Hogwarts, and the Basilisk had been sealed off. Who else could he have fought?

"It's Dobby"

Patton's expression was somewhat complicated.

"He seemed to feel that we had deceived him—because of the Basilisk attack, he wanted to protect Harry Potter in his own way."

"Really? How does he plan to protect it?"

"Just now during the Quidditch match, he tried to use a spell to control the ball and injure Potter, but I stopped him."

He looked very angry, and then disappeared somewhere.

"Injure Potter? Why?"

"He seemed to think that as long as Potter was hospitalized, he would be safe from the Basilisk's attack."

Li Wei immediately understood why Barton's expression was so subtle—having such a dangerous little elf in school was, in a sense, a very tricky situation.

Moreover, Dobby's behavior was actually a reminder to the wizards just how dangerous the so-called house-elves really are.

Ignoring the limitations of Apparition, able to cast spells without a wand, and short and inconspicuous in appearance—he's practically a born assassin.

The medieval wizards conquered this dangerous race through war and forced them into enslavement. House-elves have survived as servants of the wizards ever since.

Dobby is undoubtedly a dangerous exception—he knows how to partially circumvent the limitations of the contract.

This might be a good thing if used for the right purpose, but it becomes very dangerous if he has thoughts of harming a student.

“Master, I left something on it; I can lead you to it.”

Li Wei shook his head at this moment.

"I can't Apparate inside the castle, so capturing him is harder than killing him."

"What do you think I should do?"

Barton's expression became hesitant—Dobby's actions, in his view, had broken a taboo—house-elves were absolutely forbidden from harming wizards.

If Li Wei ordered him to kill him, he really didn't want to kill this silly boy he had only known for a short time.

"If he doesn't trust us, fine—you keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't hurt any students except Potter."

"Don't we need to protect Porter?"

"Don't worry, he cares about Potter more than we do, but his views are too distorted."

“Maybe he’s with Porter now—and if he changes his mind later, you can still help him out.”

"Thank you for your kindness, Master."
