Chapter 6 Side Quest: Capture the D17 Base

Chapter 6 Side Mission: Recapture D17
"What happened? How did you lose your position?"

Andrei glanced at the direction the officer had just run from and immediately sensed something was wrong, because the guy had come from the trench on his side!
If that trench is lost, then the trench he is in will become a salient, facing a fierce attack from the front while also being attacked from the flanks and rear.

In this situation, even if his soldiers were made of iron, it would be impossible for them to hold this position!
So Andrei immediately realized that he had to take back the lost position as soon as possible, otherwise the enemy would soon rush over from the trenches behind him!

After catching his breath several times, the officer said urgently:
"Captain, it's not that the brothers aren't doing their job, it's just that the enemy's Dread Knight squad is here! My men can't penetrate their power armor at all. Before we even had a chance to throw grenades, the brothers were already riddled with bullets!"

Upon hearing these words, Andrei's face turned slightly pale.

If he wasn't mistaken, he thought he heard the word "power armor"?
Can anyone tell him what kind of absurd world he's transmigrated to? Here he's fighting trench warfare with World War I equipment, there are multi-legged armored vehicles, mages and cyborg soldiers, and now even power armor is here!
Good, good, good. The only world he'd ever seen this outrageous was Warhammer 40k! Could he really have become a lowly soldier in the Astronautical Army?

However, before Andrei could speak, the bearded veteran said to him:

"Captain, send me 20 skilled men. I'll take back the position they lost right now!"

"It's just power armor, I've seen these things before, give me some more grenades!"

Andrei nodded, then shouted to the ten players beside him and the soldiers firing further out:
"Send 20 men to take back that lost position! Watch out for enemy power armor!"

Meanwhile, players also received a side quest:
Side Quest: Recapture the enemy-held D17 position and eliminate the enemy's Dread Knights! Total Reward: 500 Merit Points! Number of Participants: 0/20

[Note: All task rewards will be distributed based on the contribution ratio of each participant. The higher the contribution, the larger the percentage of the total reward!]

If you want players to put in the effort to complete tasks, you have to give them extra rewards. Otherwise, who would bother doing side quests?
As for how the task rewards should be distributed specifically?
Andrei directly used the system's output statistics to make the division, rewarding the most capable!
As soon as the side quest was released, the players went wild. A bunch of people, no one knew how fast their hands were, all clicked to join the quest within three seconds.

Meanwhile, ten warriors from other soldiers in this world also signed up to join what they considered an extremely dangerous mission.

Compared to other warriors, the players didn't care at all about the dangers of the mission.

So what if it has power armor? What's so scary about that?

For other soldiers, having power armor means the mission is almost certainly fatal, but for players, having power armor only makes them more excited!
After the suicide squad responsible for retaking the position was assembled, the bearded veteran led them out, but after only a few steps, he couldn't help but frown.

He discovered that while the soldiers charging alongside him were brave enough, even exceeding his expectations, their tactics were utterly terrible!
These guys are all just running for their lives. They don't even have the most basic tactical formations or cross-cover. If you didn't know they were charging, you'd think they were rushing to their deaths!
"Hey, you guys slow down, are you waiting to get shot down in one burst?"

Seeing the few reckless men at the front, the veteran quickly shouted to stop them, but the man charging at the very front simply said nonchalantly:
"Don't worry, Boris! Let me show you some tricks!" Then, to the veteran Boris's astonishment, the soldier pulled out a bayonet from behind and stuck it into his submachine gun. He then let out a roar and charged forward at an unimaginable speed.

"Sukabule! Is he fucking going to his death?"

Boris was genuinely shocked. Putting aside how this guy could carry so many bags and run so fast, his mindless charge with bayonets was simply speechless.

The Black Hawk soldiers, who had just rushed into the trenches and occupied the position, suddenly heard a fierce roar. Before they could figure out what was going on, a brute suddenly roared out of the passageway on their side.

Seeing the enemy soldier's crazed expression and desperate charge with his bayonet, the Black Hawk soldiers were startled and quickly raised their rifles to fire at him!
But to the horror of these Black Hawk soldiers, the rifle bullets that should have been able to take down the enemy with a single shot seemed to malfunction at this moment!
They fired three shots in quick succession, hitting their targets at such close range, each bullet piercing the enemy's abdomen and thigh.

Even after being shot three times, the soldier's charging speed did not decrease at all. He charged forward like a bull, then stabbed a man in the chest with his knife and twisted it twice!

Immediately after stabbing one person to death, the soldier smoothly pulled out a large bundle of cluster grenades from behind him and threw them at them.

The remaining two Black Hawk soldiers were blown up before they could even react.

The soldier who had just finished a bayonet charge breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at his nearly depleted health.

"Holy crap, the NPCs in this game deal way more damage!"

"Luckily, I have damage reduction when I charge, otherwise I would definitely be dead!"

After cursing a couple of times, he quickly called for the medic in the chat area to come up and give him a medkit.

Just then, several other players also ran over.

Unfortunately, these assault soldiers completely ignored the players waiting for healing in the corner, and instead roared and launched a bayonet charge.

Following closely behind these bayonet-wielding players, Boris, the veteran in charge, finally caught up, panting heavily. He thought the stamina of these new recruits was truly outrageous!

Just then, he saw the fierce man standing in the corner who had charged in and taken down three enemies in one fell swoop, his body covered in blood but still standing tall!
