Chapter 7: Before bayonets, all are equal!
"Hey bro, are you alright? How are you feeling?"
Boris strode forward, carefully observing the soldier who was bleeding profusely. He had followed behind and witnessed firsthand how this formidable man had dealt with the enemy.
He was shot three times by the enemy rifle, but he didn't utter a sound. He stabbed one of the men to death with his bayonet, then turned around and detonated a grenade at such close range!
The explosion not only shattered the enemy, but also left him covered in dust and seemingly riddled with shrapnel.
Even so, this guy was still able to get up from the ground, which is beyond what you can describe as an ordinary strongman!
Boris couldn't help but admire the recruit. To be honest, he had seen brave recruits before, but he had never seen anyone this brave, fighting to the death!
The assault soldier player was excited to see that the NPC veteran was actually talking to him, thinking that the NPC in front of him could unlock some kind of mission.
When it came to building favorability, he quickly and nonchalantly patted his chest and said:
"Don't worry, brother, I'm fine. I don't feel any pain at all!"
"It's just a few fatal wounds, nothing serious!"
That's not wrong from the players' perspective.
They didn't turn on pain simulation when playing the game. Except for a few masochists who like to experience pain, most people don't turn on the pain level.
So even though he was shot several times in a row, he didn't feel anything from those shots; it was as if someone had hit him with a piece of paper.
As for bleeding profusely, that's not a problem for players either.
Ultimately, a player's survivability depends on their health bar. So no matter how much blood they seem to be bleeding, as long as their health bar isn't empty, they're fine.
For players, there is no issue of continuous damage after being shot, so although he looks miserable, his health bar is actually unchanged.
Seeing the brave and fearless soldier in front of him, covered in blood yet patting his chest and saying he was fine, Boris felt a pang of sadness.
He really wanted to know what this tough guy did before he joined the army.
What kind of environment could produce such a ruthless person?
Just then, a medic player ran over, casually tossed him a medkit, and left without looking back, grabbing his rifle and following the other players forward.
Boris blinked, wondering what that medic who had just flashed by was doing. Was he in a hurry to be reborn?
Seriously? Are you kidding me? He's a medic!
His duty is to rescue the wounded, and the wounded are here right now!
Why did he just leave a medical kit without offering to bandage the wound or remove the shrapnel, and then just run away?
Clearly, Boris didn't know what a battlefield medic was!
For battlefield medics, killing people, setting fires, and blowing up tanks are what they are supposed to do; saving lives is just a hobby!
As for the wounded comrades?
Get out of the way! This is clearly a competitor who's stealing their kills and their credits!
The commotion caused here naturally attracted the attention of the Black Hawk soldiers who had just rushed up from the other side.
Hearing the fierce shouts and explosions coming from the corner of the trench not far away, three Fear Knights, dressed in full steel power armor and carrying huge steam-powered backpacks on their backs, stood up. They looked like steampunk versions of medieval knights.
"You guys hold this section of the trench and don't let the Cambrian soldiers on the other side rush up. Let's check the situation!" One of the Dread Knights said to the other eight soldiers. Then, he changed two new magazines on the parallel submachine gun in his left hand, picked up a Germanic two-handed greatsword in his other hand, and then rushed across the trench with the other two.
These three Dread Knights were fully confident in their combat abilities; their equipment made them virtually invincible in trench warfare!
Their powerfully armored armor is strong enough to withstand ordinary rifles and even machine gun fire, while their dense rapid-fire and ferocious two-handed greatswords make them easy targets for trench warfare.
If they cooperate properly, even an ordinary Cambrian soldier in a company might not be their match!
However, the situation before them was somewhat unexpected for the three Fear Knights.
Just as they rounded the corner of the trench, three soldiers with ferocious expressions and loud shouts charged towards them with bayonets at the ready, startling the three men.
They couldn't understand what deep-seated hatred these Cambrian soldiers had for them, that they could charge with such reckless abandon.
Players also really want to complain about this!
Why do they have to shout like that when they charge?
If they didn't shout like that and launched a silent attack, wouldn't that be even more deadly?
Although startled by the players' momentum, the leading Dread Knight immediately raised his submachine gun in his left hand and began firing indiscriminately.
The twin-mounted submachine gun unleashed terrifying firepower at close range, instantly riddling the soldier at the forefront with bullets, leaving him with over a dozen blood-spurting holes.
But even as the soldier fell, the two behind him continued their charge!
As another guy charged at him, the Fear Knight, who didn't have time to reload his submachine gun, complained that the 20-round magazine was too small, and then raised his two-handed greatsword and thrust it straight at him.
It was too late to raise it overhead and slash, but given the length of his arm, he could easily pierce the guy charging with the bayonet first.
The precise rapier pierced the second player's heart, causing him to fall silently to the ground.
Facing the last enemy charging towards him, the Dread Knight sheathed his sword in preparation for a strike, while also bracing himself with his breastplate to withstand the attack.
Looking at the enemy charging at him with a ferocious expression and a bayonet in hand, the Fear Knight admired his courage, but a hint of disdain flashed through his heart.
With his breastplate being eight millimeters thick, how could an ordinary bayonet possibly penetrate it?
Feeling a sharp pain in his chest, the Fear Knight, who had just raised his greatsword above his head, looked down in disbelief.
How can this be?
What material was that soldier's bayonet made of that? It actually pierced through his breastplate!
With a single bayonet thrust, he easily felled the Fear Knight before him. After twisting it twice, Hao Nan's lips curled into an excited smile.
[Hahaha, so what if it's power armor? Before bayonets, all are equal!]
He had barely had time to vent in the chat when, in the next instant, two Fear Knights behind him riddled him with bullets from their submachine guns.
