Chapter 89 Ominous Sign Makes a Move
The top of the bunker suddenly descended into chaos, with both sides hacking and slashing at each other, each with its own advantages—Weapon X had more people, and most of them had healing abilities and were completely fearless of death, while the X-Men's composition was more reasonable, unlike Weapon X, where four out of seven people were of the same type and could only rely on their healing abilities for close combat.

But none of this has anything to do with Peter.

The Quinjet crashed solidly into the sea and then broke apart. Although his abilities were somewhat out of control, Peter, whose movements were at least not seriously impaired, swam in the sea for a while before being dragged ashore by the beast. He looked to the other side, where it seemed that Qianhuan couldn't swim at all, and Cindy pulled her to the dock.

"Looks like our wish to stay in the sky has been dashed," the Beast said helplessly. But the good news was that the giant fireball wouldn't be targeting them anymore—the Iceman was currently engaged in a fierce battle of ice and fire with him high in the sky, and they were evenly matched for the time being.

“I have an idea,” Peter suddenly had a flash of inspiration: “Why don’t we take advantage of this moment to capture that Ajax, then use the gene editing device to accelerate the fusion of my genes, and then come out directly to help?”

To be fair, it's a good idea. Having their own telepaths on both sides means that neither side actually has their own telepath. While Beast doesn't know how long the gene-editing device will take to heal or adjust Spider-Man, it's certainly more useful than just waiting around.

There's only one problem: there are two non-combatants here. Spider-Man is fine; Beast trusts he won't act recklessly. But Qianhuan… she's a complete rookie.

He looked at Qian Huan and said seriously, "This is a good idea, but there is only one requirement: as the temporary commander, I need you to follow my advice. That's about it."

To be fair, the fact that Beast could call this a suggestion shows he's not exactly a fighter, but that's fine with him. So the group tiptoed off. Based on his experience in the X-Men, Beast silently recited the White Queen's name and asked her to spare some time to create a psychological cloaking device for them to enter the bunker, so that the Weapon X guys wouldn't be able to see them.

Only then did he set off with the three young men.

They crept stealthily into Weapon X's bunker. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary; everything appeared normal. Beast pulled a pair of glasses from his pocket, put them on, and surveyed the surroundings. After assessing the building's layout, he confidently stated, "This way."

The bunker was large and deep. Beast found a downward elevator and began its descent. This action alerted Mr. Vicious, who had been idly watching the show when he noticed a notification on the control panel indicating that someone had infiltrated the bunker and was heading towards his laboratory. He frowned, and just as he was about to shut down the elevator, a sharp pain shot through his brain. The new telepath had detected his actions and was trying to stop him.

Mr. Ominous hesitated for almost a second before deciding which was more important—the vast amount of data in the gene-editing machine was definitely more important than Logan's DNA alone.

He sighed, and then the entire top of the bunker was lifted off, the powerful telekinetic force leaving everyone present astonished.

Ajax took a step in the air, walking in mid-air, then shook his head helplessly.

"I'm sorry, I was hoping to collect all your DNA, especially Logan's. But alas, you're planning... to ruin my little toy. So I have to deal with you first. My old friends."

He wiped his hands from his forehead to the back, and red crystals emerged from his forehead. His skin turned pale, and a full head of hair replaced his bald head. Even his white coat was replaced by a black gothic robe.

The laser-eyed people who witnessed this scene were dumbfounded.

"Nathaniel Essex?! How could you still be alive?!"

“Of course I’m alive. To me, the body is merely a vessel for action.” Mr. Ominous smiled slightly, then sighed and raised his hand. “The only pity is that if I were to reveal myself, it would mean exposing myself to sunlight. What a shame, I still have so much research to do.” “X-Men—”

"You are nothing."

With a puff of blue smoke, Mr. Ominous appeared before Cyclops, pinning his head down. Cyclops's eyes, which had previously emitted light, gradually lost their luster, turning him into an ordinary human. Logan lunged at him from behind, but Mr. Ominous turned and grabbed his neck, lifting Logan up and watching as his skin slowly rotted away.

“There was a kid whom Stryker called ‘Leech.’ His mutant genes were very interesting; they could suppress the X-genes of other mutants to a certain extent. It took me a long time to combine his genes with those of other mutants so that I could use his powers while also being able to use my own.”

Mr. Ominous raised an eyebrow and said, leaving the dying Logan aside. He looked at everyone present and, almost instantly, pulled everyone, whether Weapon X or the X-Men, to his side. Only the White Queen survived thanks to her telekinesis.

"Ajax, you fucking..."

“The Ajax who modified you ran away a long time ago, Deadpool.” Mr. Ominous picked at his nails idly, not even glancing at them. “I just really needed this identity to infiltrate Stryker’s team, since he has my gene-editing device. As for you, you’re no different from other mutants; you’re just experimental subjects I need.”

"Originally, once you caught Logan, I was going to use you as guinea pigs for my comparative experiments. This is just happening earlier than expected."

Everyone who was pulled to Mr. Ominous's side had their X-genes suppressed by the mutant ability called "Leech" emanating from him. Then, using a small amount of red Omega death pheromones transplanted by Mr. Ominous, he rendered almost everyone unconscious.

The mechanism of killing is convenient; any mutant is no match for him.

"Oh, and you too, darling."

Mr. Ominous looked at Emma in the distance and smiled. He knew Emma was a member of the Hellfire Club, but he didn't mind offending a new mutant organization.

Anyway, there's not much difference.

A cloud of blue smoke appeared, and he strolled gracefully behind Emma. His diamond-like skin began to rapidly return to normal, as the last person present collapsed. Mr. Ominous beckoned the only non-mutant among them, the original Human Torch, to watch over these precious experimental subjects, before flying deeper underground.

I forgot to delete a section at the beginning that I edited using DS, sorry. After I finish writing a chapter, I'll try using DS to see if I can improve the details of the battle and environmental descriptions, because sometimes I feel that my writing is indeed not good enough.

  I apologize again.
