Chapter 87 Both sides prepare their troops
Li Qianhuan came to help, or rather, Logan told her that if she wanted help, she should come and find the two of them.

Peter and Cindy exchanged a glance, both understanding what Logan meant—in the upcoming battle against Weapon X, Peter's role was essentially that of the "patient," while Cindy was the "caregiver." In other words, they weren't really needed to participate in the fight, especially given Peter's current unstable abilities; sometimes, his intervention might even injure someone.

With Cyclops already gathering the X-Men and considering this the first mission of the X-Men's rebuilding, there's even less need for Peter and Cindy. At this point, Logan throws Qianhuan over, making his stance clear: he doesn't want Qianhuan involved and wants her to stay obediently in the children's group.

Cindy looked at Peter, then pulled up her face mask, seemingly as a gesture of "keep away." It was also a way of telling Peter to talk to the others; whether he told Qianhuan the truth or tried to persuade her not to go into danger was up to him. As for Cindy, she had no opinion whatsoever.

"Um... he said yes, we help them, but that's all we do."

Peter decided to smooth things over: "We're in a bit of a predicament. Logan and his team are going to fight some bad guys, which will be very dangerous. He won't let us join the fight directly, but we can help from the sidelines."

"But you're Spider-Man, you're an Avenger."

Compared to others, Peter, who has been officially announced as an Avenger, is indeed more convincing as a superhero, but Peter just shrugged: "My superpowers are having some problems, so the X-Men helped me solve them, that's all."

"If you want to help, if you want to do something, you first have to train yourself not to cause trouble for others. Me too, at least I did... I only decided to help after I learned how to use my abilities to avoid hurting others and to protect myself."

Peter was about to say something more when he heard the familiar roar of a Quinjet engine.

The rest of the X-Men arrived.

Cyclops, along with Wolverine and Beast, stood on the building's helipad, watching the Quinjet land. Iceman was the first to emerge, cheering as he created an ice path with his hands as the door opened, gliding towards Cyclops. Following behind was Colossus, who, to cope with his family's hereditary organ failure, had to remain fully steel most of the time. The burly Russian man politely nodded to the passengers and offered a polite thank you.

“I knew you’d come, Bobby.” Cyclops smiled and hugged Iceman, another original X-Men member, then shook hands with Colossus as he approached. “Thank you for coming, Rasputin.”

“Professor Scott once gave me a home.”

The two men joined the group, and Beast, smiling, handed them the new suits. Finally, a mutant who wasn't an X-Men member disembarked from the plane. Emma Foster stepped off, Cyclops's smile fading into a polite one, and walked towards the man.

Logan asked Beast curiously, "Who is that woman?"

“Emma Foster, the dean of the Mutant Academy in Massachusetts, a major shareholder of Hellfire Corp., and a telepath,” Beast said slowly. “Scott believes she would be very useful to the X-Men.”

“A telepath, is that it?” Logan sneered, completely unsurprised, as if Cyclops had a particular fondness for telepaths. Professor Xavier was like a father figure to him, and Jean Grey was his lover. And now, this newly arrived blonde was another telepath.

“Looks like you’re not going to sell Xavier Academy to me, Scott.” Emma smiled and shook hands with Cyclops. “And you even brought me all the way to Madrid to show me your X-Men.”

“I’m not showing you, Ms. Forster. On the contrary, I’m telling you that the Worthington Group will be launching a takeover bid for your college in the next couple of days. If it goes through, all the faculty, students, and teaching resources of the Massachusetts Mutant Academy will be incorporated into Xavier’s School of Genius.”

Cyclops grasped Emma's hand and told her his purpose: "If you want Xavier's Academy, I can give it to you, but not to Hellfire Clique, nor to Sebastian Shaw. If you really want to become the next professor, then prove it to me."

For the first time, Emma Foster looked at this man with such interest. Unlike his previous dejected and powerless appearance, he seemed to have become a leader simply because he had an opponent.

“I’m sorry, but you’ve got one thing wrong.” Emma laughed. “I’ve never been Sebastian’s subordinate. The members of the Hellfire Club are codenamed after chess pieces, and only the Queen and the Emperor are the club’s leaders. And who the club’s leader is determines what Hellfire will do. He is the Black Emperor, and I am the White Queen; we are equals. But if… there were a White Emperor standing beside the White Queen, then the Hellfire Club would belong to them.”

“I accept your acquisition offer, Mr. Scott Summers. The question is, can you accept my offer?”

Scott didn't hesitate for long. He flashed a bright smile and shook Emma Foster's hand. "Welcome to the X-Men, Emma. Ready for your first battle?"

At Weapon X's temporary base, a shipping container was placed in front of everyone. The ominous man, disguised as Ajax, watched as the Death Woman used her fingernails to cut through the massive chains. Then, the container door swung open, and a terrifying blast of cold air poured out. When the smoke from the cold air dissipated, everyone saw what was sealed inside. It seemed to be a person, naked and sealed inside a huge block of ice.

"What is this, a mutant?"

When Deakin asked, Mr. Ominous shook his head incredulously.

"No, this is a legend, a legend everyone thought was dead. If he were still alive, that kid wouldn't have had the chance to call him that title. I can't believe Hydra actually, actually kept this?"

He gestured to the Death Woman to poke a hole in the ice. As air flowed in, the man's skin burned. Then, the intense heat melted the ice that had sealed him. The man stood up from the snowmelt, his eyes devoid of any life, simply staring silently at the weapons before him, awaiting orders.

Mr. Ominous smiled. He truly hadn't expected that Hydra could actually turn its mortal enemy into its weapon.

"Everyone, let's get acquainted. This is Jim Hammond, the real Human Torch!"
