I'm working on Marvel's Spider-Man in American comics.
Chapter 86 I Need to Regroup the Troops
Chapter 86 I Need to Regroup the Troops
The three members of the new generation of X-Men (actually, there wasn't a single new member) hastily assembled. Cyclops had just made a few phone calls to check on the status of his old buddies and see how many could be brought back to the X-Men. The final result was neither good nor bad.
"Bobby (Iceman) is willing to come back. Warren (Angel) said that it would be more appropriate to use Warren Corporation's assets to help mutants. Ororo (Storm) is now the queen. Rogue is still missing. Finally, Peter (Colossus) heard that you are back and is also willing to come back, on the condition that his family can find a place to live."
In addition, there are Nightcrawlers, who are currently in Kenosha and cannot be contacted yet, but the problem should be minor; they just cannot come to help this time.
"So, the X-Men were reunited, but there were only five of them."
As Logan spoke, he used his steel claws to slice open the upper half of the beer bottle. All three of them were wearing the new X-Men armor designed by Hank, with a yellow and blue color scheme. However, it wasn't a bodysuit like Spider-Man's, but rather some kind of armor that looked much better, although Logan still thought the color was stupid.
The team composition is also stupid: Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Iceman, Colossus. This team looks unbalanced no matter how you look at it. The most crucial thing is that there is no battlefield coordination or support. In the past, there was Jean Grey or Professor X's telepathic communication to coordinate and support the whole team, but now there is nothing.
But something is better than nothing, as Laser Eyes has always emphasized, and Logan's return brought them their first student of the new semester, which is also good news.
The reconstruction funds for the teachers and the academy are temporarily provided by the Angels. Cyclops has some ideas. He knows of a place with ready-made teachers and students, namely the Massachusetts Mutant Academy. If he can persuade Emma Foster to abandon Hellfire and switch sides, allowing the school and the academy to merge, then the academy can get back on track in a short time. Although it sounds unlikely, for some reason, Cyclops feels that he is quite confident.
But putting that aside for now, the other two teammates will be transported to Madrid today by S.H.I.E.L.D.'s special plane. The first battle of the new X-Men will then begin, and their enemy will be Weapon X.
There's just one other thing that needs to be addressed.
"What about the kids?" Hank shrugged. "Spider-Man and Silk aside, what about the kid you brought, Logan? She seems really eager to join the fight."
Logan rarely showed a worried expression: "Qianhuan, ah... let me think, in short, don't let her join the battle. Her abilities are not bad, but if she finds out that she can be useful, it will be even more troublesome."
“I agree with that. We don’t have time to take care of newbies.” Cyclops nodded. “S.H.I.E.L.D. will be helping us with this operation, so let’s leave it to them.”

S.H.I.E.L.D. has much more to take care of than just these things. Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters building, Peter is undergoing a strength test. He is frantically hitting a huge sandbag of unknown material. He originally thought that after being interfered with by the death pheromones of the red Omega or after training, he would be able to improve his control over his strength.
But it turns out that the beast was right. Unless Peter relied on the complete fusion of genes, he had no way to control this power, and no amount of training would help.
However, this sandbag can be used to test Peter's strength. His heaviest punch so far has weighed 22 tons. I wonder what kind of material this sandbag is made of, that it's so durable.
"How am I doing... I mean, since I came back from the parallel universe?"
Peter asked his professional doctor, Cindy, and Cindy took off her face mask, seemingly because they were the only two people in the training room and there were no strangers. She was sitting in the corner reading a book as usual, and only looked up at Peter after hearing his words.
"From my perspective, there's been no change in you, except that you're healthier."
Health? Peter wasn't sure what Cindy's criteria were, since he couldn't sense Cindy's condition.
However, after confirming that he was indeed fine and wouldn't turn into a humanoid spider, Peter looked at the book Cindy was holding and asked, "What book are you reading?"
Cindy held up the book and showed it to Peter. Peter saw the title: Dickens' *Oliver Twist*. "I'd recommend *David Copperfield* more… but my top recommendation for realist works is Balzac's *The Human Comedy*, or *Dream of the Red Chamber*."
Cindy stared at him for a while before saying, "I've seen it all."
After a moment of silence, Peter spoke again: "I'm sorry... I'm troubling you again. If I'm free, you should transfer to Midtown Middle School today."
Cindy didn't mind; for her, it was just a change of scenery for reading. But now she put the book down, looked at Peter curiously, and asked him questions.
Why are you always apologizing? It seems like you're apologizing every time we meet.
"Because... well, I feel like I'm bothering others."
Peter scratched his face and explained the reason. Cindy sat there, resting her chin on her hand and looking at Peter.
In the end, I decided to say what I wanted to say.
“You’re really strange. You spend almost all of your free time helping others. But when you think about causing trouble for others, you feel like it’s your fault.”
"that is because……"
"I can sense your physical condition not because of you, but because of that spider. Your current physical condition is not because you were bitten by that spider on purpose. In other words, the fault is not yours."
That's true, but Peter would feel embarrassed.
But Cindy had other questions for him.
"Aren't you tired? It's just a small favor, but aren't you doing too many small favors like this?"
Cindy had a lot to say, which was unusual for her, because she had actually experienced Peter's daily life yesterday afternoon: shopping, patrolling, and fighting crime. In just one afternoon, Cindy gained a deep understanding of what New York was like and Peter's daily life.
For the first time, she directly experienced how big New York was and how many things required Spider-Man to solve.
What she couldn't understand was what had kept Peter going. She wasn't a talkative person, but she wanted an answer today.
Peter scratched his head, unsure how to answer, when there was a knock on the door of the testing room, and then Li Qianhuan poked her head out.
"Logan said he's reporting for duty here. Hey guys."
