Chapter 754 A Little Arrangement Before Leaving

Chapter 754 A few arrangements before leaving

By Wednesday, Cindy still hadn't come to school. Peter told Amadeus and Harry about it, and Harry looked at Peter with surprise: "Going abroad? You mean there won't be any Spider-Man in New York for a long time?"

“I think there are a lot of Spider-Men in New York right now—of course, I know what you mean, thanks, bro. Of course, I have an idea. I’m planning to give one of my old suits to Flash, or maybe have Venom mimic the Spider-Man suit and have Agent Venom fill in for me for a few days. If there’s any emergency, you can contact me if you can reach me.”

Harry was a little startled by this: "Dude, if we can get in touch, that's not a good thing."

"Because I'm not sure if there's internet there, even though there's definitely internet everywhere there."

As Peter spoke, he also gave his brothers some instructions: "So I won't be able to participate in the detective club's activities for the next few weeks. Please ask Jessica for leave for me. Also, please keep an eye on those freshmen. You know, they're the ones whose parents were kidnapped by S.H.I.E.L.D."

Peter was referring, of course, to the group of runaway children who moved the story from San Francisco to New York. According to the original plot, these children would flee in terror after discovering their parents were members of an evil organization that even intended to sacrifice them—hence the name "Runaway Children." In the process, they would awaken and develop their own abilities (some not superpowers) and grow as adults.

But S.H.I.E.L.D. interrupted this process, storming into the gathering of these destitute parents and arresting them all, imprisoning them in the Dome of Depths. As for the children, they will temporarily inherit their parents' assets, with S.H.I.E.L.D. handling some of the management. The Avengers plan to make them the first students at the Avengers Academy.

The Avengers then asked Peter, who was also a student at Midtown Middle School, to keep an eye on the children. Peter didn't have the time, so he subcontracted the task to Harry, who didn't have much else to do. These days, besides playing video games, Harry's most important task was to keep an eye on the young people.

“Okay, I’ll take care of it. By the way, do you want to come over to my house before you leave? There’s hardly anyone else at my place.” Harry added, “You can bring as many people as you like.”

Amadeus replied with a helpless yet objective statement: "I can't take anyone with me."

"I'd better not bring anyone with me, and I don't even know when I'll be leaving. It depends on when the tour guide is available."

Peter said as he packed his bag, “Okay, before I leave I’ll take a look around New York. I’ll only be gone for two weeks at most, but I should be back by then. I should be back eventually, so don’t miss me too much, friends.”

Amidst his friends' laughter and teasing, Peter left the classroom, went to his locker, and sent Cindy a few messages. Cindy said she was feeling much better, though it was unclear whether she was simply trying to comfort him. Meanwhile, Gwen rushed over, only to bump into Peter, who had already packed his things and was waiting for her.

"How come I only just received the news that you're going abroad?"

“I told you this afternoon… well, it wasn’t exactly just now.” Peter shrugged helplessly. “And strictly speaking, I only had this idea the day before yesterday, and I only made up my mind yesterday.”

"Why are you so anxious all of a sudden?"

"It wasn't in such a hurry, it just happened to be the time, so I did it."

Peter answered that, then saw Gwen staring at her, and said with a hint of confusion, "Since it's not in such a hurry, why not wait for another time? Like summer or winter vacation?" "That just happens to be the case, that's how it is."

Peter shrugged to indicate it was nothing, then asked Gwen, "But I'm quite free before we go. Want to go on patrol together? Maybe we'll run into some bad guys."

Gwen raised an eyebrow. She felt that Peter was withholding something from her, or rather, there were far too many things he hadn't told her, and this was especially true of this one. But she didn't confront him about it; instead, she decided to investigate it herself.

Besides, going on patrol together was something they had never done before. Gwen was actually looking forward to it.

"Then, let's go together."

Daniel's schedule was quite tight, as he could leave over the weekend, and Peter's passport and everything else were in order, so he asked the school for leave before setting off. Before he left, Aunt May helped him pack his luggage and couldn't help but give him some instructions.

"Be careful, Peter."

"Don't worry, Mei. I'm going to what is probably the safest country in the world, and I can take good care of myself. Besides, I won't be there for long."

After Peter finished speaking, he hugged Aunt May and then asked, "Where's Uncle Ben? I haven't seen him today."

"He went to work and said you didn't need to say goodbye. He said you're a grown woman and can take care of yourself, and you don't need him to drive you to the airport. But if you need it, I can drive you there in my car."

Aunt May laughed. Peter, of course, didn't agree, only telling her to take care of herself before leaving with his bag and suitcase. Just as he stepped outside, he saw the second-floor window of Stacy's house next door open, and Gwen poked her head out: "Leaving already?"

"Yes, things are mostly arranged. Take good care of New York, Gwen. Especially the places that Lightning might not be able to reach."

"Leave it to me, if you trust me."

Gwen sighed as she spoke. She had been quite curious as to why Peter suddenly wanted to go abroad at this time, but even Felicia, whom she thought knew quite a bit about Peter's little secrets, didn't know why Peter wanted to go abroad. Finally, after asking around, she discovered that Cindy had been running a fever for several days and had only recovered yesterday.

Although there is no evidence, Gwen believes that Peter's trip abroad is related to Cindy's illness.

So, after watching Peter leave, Gwen let out another long sigh. For a moment, she didn't know what to do, so she could only watch him leave in silence, and finally shook her head helplessly.

Peter first went to the entrance of Rand Medical Company, and then went to the airport with Daniel, preparing to embark on the journey of the Immortal Weapon Trial.
