Chapter 704 Here, Spiders and Cats Dance Together

Chapter 704 Here, Spiders and Cats Dance Together
Midtown Middle School's homecoming festival is always held on the last weekend of September each year. This year, because Norman didn't deliberately arrange it, there were new themes every day. Similarly, Harry also had new themes every day.

Peter was practically numb.

When it came time for this year's Homecoming, Harry finally dressed like a proper man. He was dressed in a sharp black suit and was chatting and laughing with Amadeus and Liz. When he saw Peter, Harry's eyes lit up and he walked over, patting Peter on the shoulder: "That's a nice outfit, bro. Looks like you're really into Homecoming this year."

"I didn't actually pick out these clothes myself; someone else did."

"Hmm? Did Gwen pick it out for you, or did Cindy pick it out for you?"

“None of them.” Peter sighed helplessly. “Felicia picked them for me.”

For a moment, a look of confusion crossed Harry's face, just like Peter's when he saw Harry's outfit this week. Peter, on the other hand, stood to the side indifferently and looked around. Gwen and Cindy weren't here today, which was expected. But after looking around, Peter noticed another problem.

That is, no lightning came either.

“Frey must have his own plans, otherwise he wouldn’t have transferred Lightning away… I don’t think Lightning would be unhappy to come to a place like this, especially for the homecoming football game, where he is the star player.”

Peter looked around as he pondered, waiting for Felicia to arrive and for the homecoming dance to begin. Just then, a small commotion broke out in the crowd. Peter looked over and saw Felicia, the one who had started it.

Actually, she didn't do anything; she was just wearing the off-the-shoulder black gown that she had shown Peter before. In addition, she wore a pair of black silk gloves, a pair of earrings, and replaced the silver necklace on her chest with a sapphire necklace.

The slight commotion was, of course, due to her outfit. Felicia was already very beautiful, but after dressing up today, she caused even more discussion among her circle of acquaintances, attracting even more attention. Peter, noticing this, began to sigh helplessly.

Great, Spider-Man was already busy enough, and now he has even more reasons not to spend time at school.

Harry, who witnessed this scene, was quite surprised. He went to Peter's side and asked in a low voice, "What exactly is going on?"

"Well... it's a long story. In short, she offered me a price I couldn't refuse. In exchange, I had to accompany her to the homecoming dance."

Harry suddenly realized, "No wonder Gwen and Cindy didn't come. I see."

You beast, what do you know!

Peter shook his head helplessly, then looked at the crowd. He saw Felicia's expression and sighed again. Harry looked over and then turned back to Peter: "Does she mean for you to go and bring her over from the crowd?"

"No, no, she meant we shouldn't go to her before the ball starts."

Harry looked at Peter, puzzled, and asked, "How can you be so sure?"

"Because she messaged me and told me to wait a while."

Peter waited there for a long time as he spoke. Felicia certainly captured a lot of people's attention and time, but as time passed, the crowd's attention quickly began to wane. Perhaps that's just how people are; when something is irrelevant to them, it quickly fades from their focus.

It was at this moment that Felicia walked towards Peter.

“Something’s not right. I don’t see Tanti and the others.”

After Felicia walked over, she said something that surprised Peter. Peter simply replied, "But Richard Ryder is still here," and looked around. "I bet I'm going to be a star at school from now on." "If you had come over earlier, that would have been a star. The problem is solved now. I explained my reasons and criteria for choosing you to my friends, and they feel sorry for you now."

Peter almost rolled his eyes, then looked around before picking up his phone: "No, there's no word from Matt, and the other members of the Defenders haven't contacted me either. It seems like nothing serious has happened yet, so there shouldn't be any major problems."

"That's good. I don't want my dance partner to suddenly leave halfway through the dance."

Peter looked at Felicia with a hint of helplessness: "How much... do you care about this?"

"After all, the possibility of it happening is too high. Okay, it's time, let's go."

The homecoming dance is less of a formal dance and more of a relaxing party where students use the school's facilities—even for Americans, a party of this scale is quite rare, with hundreds or even thousands of students gathering together.

But Peter wasn't very keen on stepping onto the dance floor.

"what happened?"

“I was worried that I would become the center of attention once I walked in, after all… I would be dancing with the center of attention.”

Felicia couldn't help but laugh when she heard this: "So, you don't like crowds?"

"I hope so, but I don't really like standing in the spotlight, it makes me feel a little uncomfortable. But don't worry, I have a strong sixth sense, I definitely won't step on your foot."

“Or…” Felicia paused slightly, then added, “How about you come with me, and I’ll lead you in dancing, away from the crowds?”

Peter looked around in surprise: "Are you sure?"

“Of course, I’m Felicia Hardy. I know exactly how to move through a crowd without attracting attention.” Felicia said, then looked at Peter: “What, is there anything else you need to do?”

Peter shook his head and extended his hand to Felicia.

"No, ma'am. May I invite you to dance a dance that nobody cares about?"

"Of course, sir."

Felicia extended her hand and gently led Peter into the dance floor. As they moved through the dance floor, Peter was surprised to find that, with Felicia's steps, they were swallowed up by the tide of the dance floor, hardly attracting the attention of anyone who wasn't specifically looking for them.

How long do you think they'll keep jumping?

Felicia led Peter along while asking him questions. Peter thought for a moment and said, "Last year, the latest we stayed up was the early hours of the morning. Of course, tired people can go home early. Are you planning to leave first?"

"This question sounds a bit strange at this point, but it's okay, the person we're looking for won't run away anyway."

The title is a reference to a quest name from The Witcher 3, but I'm not sure if the quest name itself contains any Easter eggs.
