Chapter 27: Shocking Ending
Chapter 27: Shocking Ending (Part 1)
The neon lights of Times Square surged like a tide, and giant electronic screens flashed news headlines, depicting the impending confrontation as the battle of the century. The National Guard was ready, blocking off the entire Times Square. The interiors and rooftops of several surrounding buildings were also cleared. At Steve Rogers' request, a one-kilometer radius around Times Square became a security zone to prevent possible explosions.
Yet, even the strictest lockdown couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of New Yorkers. Outside the cordon, a throng surged, countless phones and cameras held high, trying to capture this clash of superheroes and villains. Though their captures were destined for blurry silhouettes, this didn't dampen their enthusiasm. Most of them weren't fans of Spider-Man or horror films, but that didn't stop them from viewing the battle between superheroes and villains as a form of entertainment, especially a scheduled fight like this one.
Look, in the midst of the noisy crowd, a wonderful thing happened. A figure wearing a cheap Spider-Man Cosplay costume stood out – Eugene Thompson from Midtown Middle School was waving a homemade cheering sign to show his support for Spider-Man, forming a sharp contrast with the other onlookers.
Although the first to enter the scene was horror.
With a deafening roar, Hermann Schultz crashed into the center of Times Square like a cannonball, the ground cracking and sending debris flying. He slowly stood up and looked around—every large screen was pointed at him, every media outlet's camera focused on him, each with a close-up. Every screen he looked at showed him in a horrifying manner.
This made Hermann Schultz feel extremely satisfied. At this moment, he was the center of the world.
——Unfortunately, this glory only lasted less than ten seconds.
A red and blue figure swooped down from the sky, performed a gorgeous roller movement in mid-air, and landed steadily in a standard superhero style, then stood up and shrugged.
Peter was just about to complain about how no one was cheering for him when a voice he didn't recognize came from somewhere: "Come on! Spider-Man! Beat him up!"
I already have fans these days? Peter raised his eyebrows in surprise and walked towards Herman, making a gesture of extending his hand.
"Good evening, Hermann. Are you satisfied with the venue I have arranged for you?"
"Very good, Bug, you're very good at choosing your own shots. Tonight, everyone here will get to see how Thrillist defeats Spider-Man!"
Before he could finish his words, he slammed his fists into the ground. A terrifying shockwave spread like ripples, cracking the ground inch by inch and sending debris flying like bullets. At that moment, he was convinced that Spider-Man couldn't dodge these continuous, invisible shockwaves. Even if he did, the flying debris would still hit him directly. This was his way of dealing with Spider-Man. As long as he kept this freak away, he would be invincible.
However, Spider-Man only leaped up, and then began to approach Terror step by step. It seemed that every shock wave was dodged by his perfect jump or flying, and every rubble flying into the sky perfectly avoided Spider-Man's forward trajectory. He seemed to be able to see the shock waves approaching quickly.
Just when Terror realized that Spider-Man was approaching him, it was too late. The spider silk decisively stuck to the cracked ground. A whole piece of the road was pulled up by Spider-Man and then hit Terror's head hard.
"I was planning on giving you a friendly handshake before we started fighting, Herman. Perhaps we can catch up now?"
After throwing the stone, Spider-Man stood in front of Terror, who was knocked back several steps, and resumed the posture of stretching his hand, but Terror just shouted "Shut up" and staggered to steady his body.
"If this wasn't our first time fighting you, I'd have planned to have a good chat with you. The fight wouldn't have gotten so intense the first time we met. Um, I don't really want to say this, but your vibration wave attack method is too simple, so...why don't you just surrender?"
"I haven't lost yet!"
Having already perfected the armor's cooling system and full of confidence with the media watching, Horror immediately responded to Spider-Man with a shockwave, which was again easily dodged by the latter with a roll. Now even the most clumsy brain would understand that even when facing invisible shockwaves, Spider-Man can still perceive and avoid them.
In other words, the invisibility of the vibration wave wasn't an obstacle for Spider-Man. Furthermore, his opponent had a completely different combat style. The towering skyscrapers of Times Square were a perfect battlefield for Spider-Man. He used his webs to dodge and dodge again and again, coaxing Terror into firing continuously. If Terror tried to stop, he would quickly close in. Terror had already learned from the previous battle that, in close combat, he was no match for Spider-Man except for his defensive abilities.
In this case, keeping Spider-Man away becomes the natural solution.
The battle escalated instantly, and Herman raised the frequency of the vibration wave to the highest level. As the buildings in Times Square were constantly hit, the billboards and large screens hanging on them began to fall continuously. They were bombarded down one after another by Horror, and for some reason, Spider-Man caught them one by one with his spider web, and then wrapped them between the high-rise buildings, weaving a huge web above Horror's head, with countless falling objects hanging on it.
In the tense battle, Terror didn't even notice that the vibration wave he launched did not destroy Spider-Man's web.
Spider-Man tumbled nimbly onto the ground, kneeling on one knee and shooting out webs with both hands, hooking onto the completed Terror Launcher. Herman clenched his fists, ready to shatter the webs stuck to them, but was surprised to find that the webs didn't disperse all at once. He glanced at the web shooters on Spider-Man's wrists and immediately increased their output. This time, the webs finally blew apart, and Terror began a new round of attacks.
Spider-Man leaped up again, swinging through the air.
The terrifying shock wave arrived as expected.
The enhanced shock wave shattered the spider webs that were used to entangle billboards and large screens. One after another, the large screens that were still playing or directly flashing snowflakes fell down at the same time, slamming heavily into Times Square, raising huge smoke and dust, obscuring the terrifying vision.
"So that's your plan? You improved your silk so these things would fall? You think you can get to me that way?"
A powerful shockwave erupted from the smoke and dust, shattering the glass of numerous buildings. In an instant, the smoke and dust, along with the enormous billboards and screens, flew out, widening his terrifying vision. Only then did he realize—
What Spider-Man was waiting for was not the moment when the smoke and dust rose, but the next moment when he activated the scare launcher.
In the night, a tall and thin figure blocked out the brilliant lights. Then, the red and blue hero ran on the huge screen that was blown away. Spider silk continuously shot out from his wrist launcher and connected to a huge billboard. Then he stepped on the big screen and jumped up, swung the huge billboard and smashed it over.
Countless media helicopters and cameras could only see a huge billboard crashing to the ground.
[Jonah Jameson, Daily Bugle reports the truth!]
Half of his body was pinned by the billboard, and Terror was trying to lift it. Although it was indeed heavy, his enhanced strength should have no problem lifting it. Unfortunately, Spider-Man would not give him this opportunity. The spider silk stuck to his raised hands and pulled hard, pulling him out from under the billboard and directly in front of Spider-Man.
"It's over, Hermann."
Spider-Man lifted him up with one hand and began to grip his arm armor with the other hand: "You are under arrest for carrying flammable and explosive items. The thriller is over."
I was a bit busy on May Day, so the update is late, sorry
