Chapter 28: Shocking Ending (Part 2)

"The End? No! The horror never ends!"

Hermann's roar pierced Peter's eardrums like a sharp knife. He struggled frantically, trying to clench his fists, his knuckles turning white from the effort. Peter was forced to release the hand that was holding him and instead clenched the sides of the Horror Gauntlet tightly. The metal groaned and twisted under the strain—but it was too late. With a loud bang, the shockwave exploded, and Peter flew backward like a kite with a broken string, his back slamming into a pile of scrap metal.

"No! No! No! Hermann!"

Peter jumped to his feet, and the reason he shouted so urgently was not because he was planning to run away again or anything else, but because the arm armor was losing control. Sparks flew from the cracks, like the last gasp of a dying beast.

There are three possibilities. The first is that the scare launcher itself has reached its limit and is about to explode. The second is that the scare launcher was just broken by Spider-Man and has reached the limit of its lifespan. The third is that the scare launcher was broken and is about to explode.

The staggering Terror was unaware of this and raised his fist at Spider-Man, but he stumbled and was knocked aside, sending more sparks flying from his gauntlet.

"Okay! Just eliminate the second option!"

Two strands of spider silk stuck directly to the ground behind Terrorist, pulling Spider-Man in front of Terrorist. Peter immediately began to try to violently dismantle Terrorist's transmitter. He grabbed Terrorist's arm with one hand and began to pull hard with the other hand, directly dismantling the gold-titanium alloy shell of the arm armor and throwing it aside, revealing the wiring inside.

"It's the same principle as your previous transmitter, right? It's just shrunk down and stuffed inside the arm. Okay, I remember the structure. Let me see."

"Get out of my way!"

Terrorist's other arm swept over with a punch accompanied by a vibration wave. If Peter hadn't squatted in time, he would have hit his head. He looked at Terrorist in shock: "Hey, buddy, I'm saving you. Don't you know that there's something wrong with your equipment?"

"I……"

The billboard had knocked him into a trance, and then, looking at his sparking arm armor, he regained some consciousness and headbutted Spider-Man, his gold-titanium alloy helmet making close contact with his skull. With a loud thud, Spider-Man saw stars and was thrown back several meters.

"I can handle all of this. I just need to take care of you first."

"what?"

Spider-Man was speechless. He simply spread his hands and asked, "Dude? You've already lost. It's so obvious. What else are you going to do?!"

"So many shots... so many screens... I can't lose... I don't want to lose..."

Well, this guy is impossible to communicate with.

Peter sighed. He had only thought of using the media spotlight to draw Herman out, but he never expected that this spotlight could directly make Herman neurotic. This man probably had some kind of exposure syndrome and there was really no way to save him.

But the problem is that his launcher could explode at any time! We don’t know when it will explode!
"Let me think about it, let me think about it."

While doing a backflip to avoid the vibration wave sent towards him by the already staggering Herman, Peter started thinking. The problem now was that although Herman had won the fight, it would take time to remove his arm armor. Besides, no one knew when his arm armor would explode. They only knew that it would be soon. What if it exploded on the way after being removed?

For the first time, he felt how convenient it was to have a countdown to an explosion in a movie.

"No, no, no, wait, I can artificially overload the launcher and detonate it prematurely." Peter dodged a vibration wave aimed at his head with another simple tilt of his head. He began to try to recall the first time he met Hermann. He had picked up an old-fashioned scare launcher and carefully examined its structure. If he thought about it carefully, he should be able to remember...

Herman's original launcher could slice through an entire building, but subsequent versions weren't as powerful, suggesting Herman knew not to push the launcher to full power. Furthermore, the old Thriller launcher had a fatal flaw: its safety system didn't work properly, causing it to go haywire regardless of the launcher's power. What if he could replicate these two features, first using maximum power to propel himself high into the air, then disengaging the safety to overload the launcher?
Is the flaw still there? "Let me see, let me see!"

The helicopters filming the scene watched in confusion as Spider-Man ripped the outer covering off Terror's other gauntlet, and then watched Terror throw punches and kicks at Spider-Man, which were easily dodged. Peter, on the other hand, observed Herman's equipment and consulted his memory to find the gauntlet's safety pin.

He discovered that Hermann controlled the power of the transmitter by the strength of his fist, and the safety device was always stuck - this meant that Hermann had not solved the defect of the safety at all, but simply controlled himself as much as possible during combat to avoid using too high a frequency and thus breaking the stuck safety.

"Well, Herman, considering this is downtown New York City, I'm going to have to be a bit more creative."

He found the part that fixed the arm armor to the elbow, and after violently dismantling it, he pulled off Hermann's arm armor with force and installed it on his own arm in an unskilled manner.

At this moment, Herman didn't even react and was still talking to himself in a daze. Peter had no choice but to tie him up with spider silk and throw him aside, then clenched his fists with all his strength.

"I'm gonna—take off!"

Spider-Man took off, literally. The huge shock wave smashed a big hole in the ground, and Spider-Man was directly blown away by the huge shock wave, climbing all the way to the sky. During the climb, he removed the safety of the arm armor, and also made sure that he clenched his fists as tightly as possible. He faced the ground. He was not sure how high he could fly, but he saw the entire island of Manhattan, and then almost the entire New York.

He lay with his back to the ground, clenching his fists.

The huge impact force instantly dissipated the entire New York cloud layer, and Spider-Man was smashed directly to the ground. However, because of the powerful force, the arm armor separated from him in the air, and was thrown higher into the sky due to the reaction force, and then emitted a dazzling white light.

"There's only one problem now."

Spider-Man asked while in free fall.

"Is the distance between me and that thing even one kilometer?"

The aftermath of the explosion accelerated his fall. Peter narrowed his eyes and looked at the approaching Manhattan. Under this high altitude free fall, even if he used spider silk to stick to the building, the acceleration would tear his arms off.

Well, he had imagined similar scenes countless times in his mind, and the high-altitude falling rescue technique was just to perfectly save Gwen - who would have thought that the first time was to save himself?
The web-shooters were fully operational, laying down web after web, layer after layer, stacked between the tall buildings. Spider-Man crashed into them, relying on the web's elasticity to cushion the impact. Layer after layer of web broke after fulfilling its cushioning function. After dozens of layers, Spider-Man finally attached himself to a layer of web. He looked at the media who had rushed into the battlefield because the battle was over, and couldn't help but sigh.

He landed on the ground panting, waved to the media surrounding Hermann to make way, and finally squeezed next to Hermann.

"So... did you see that? That thing nearly blew you into a firework."

Herman said nothing. He turned to Spider-Man, who also looked at him. Finally, he understood what he meant, and then took off his helmet. The face of Herman Schultz appeared in front of all the media. At this moment, all the spotlights flashed on Herman's face. He narrowed his eyes and revealed a satisfied expression.

"I hate to say this, but you're crazy."

Peter said, patting Herman on the shoulder.

"But no matter what, the thriller ended."
