Chapter 102 Crisis
Chapter 102 Crisis
The scorpion used its metal tail to tear apart the road surface near Mu En's house, and then jumped out of the sewers—there were originally S.H.I.E.L.D. detectors in the sewers, but unfortunately, its tail released EMP, which paralyzed all of these devices along with the surrounding electrical appliances.
A family living near Mu En's house had actually been secretly replaced by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, their purpose being to protect her family's safety should her identity be leaked. They immediately emerged from the house armed, pointed at Scorpion, and shouted at him not to come closer.
"Lethal firepower is permitted if the other party engages in threatening behavior."
The team leader wasn't worried about a lack of support; ever since the surrounding power lines went out, S.H.I.E.L.D. had definitely been sending people. Their biggest concern was that they might not be able to get there in time. The leader raised his energy rifle and aimed it at Scorpion.
He looked like a high-risk target. He resembled someone wearing high-tech armor similar to Iron Man's, except that the dark green paint job of the armor made him look anything but a good guy. He wasn't completely covered either; his helmet revealed his chin, and the upper half of his face was only protected by orange visors made of large and small triangles, resembling the compound eyes of an insect, constantly watching them.
"I think you're all wondering what the point of this kind of protection is."
As the scorpion spoke, it raised its green metal tail: "But time is of the essence, so I don't have time to play with you."
As Scorpion spoke, his tail glowed green, followed by a powerful magnetic force that pulled up all the metal objects on the S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers. The easiest to take were their weapons, which were ripped off. Then, with a slight lift of his scorpion tail, the S.H.I.E.L.D. weapons opened fire on the soldiers, piercing their chests.
“This is too easy.”
Scorpion shook his head, then walked to the door of Mu En's house. Several EMP-resistant automatic turrets had just been raised when they were completely melted by the highly corrosive liquid sprayed from Scorpion's tail. Then, he punched through the door and ripped it open.
Knowing he didn't have much time, capturing a hostage was his only chance to keep up with Spider-Man and the Avengers. Scorpion understood this perfectly. He activated his armor's infrared capabilities and scanned his surroundings. It must be said that the Mu En family did have some sense; instead of running towards the basement, they went to the second floor and planned to jump out of the window to the first floor to escape.
"Where are you planning to go, Mr. Albert Moon Nicia?"
Smash straight through the house wall, the scorpion's metal tail first threw the husband, who was blocking its way, back into the house, followed by his wife and son. The three were roughly thrown to the ground. As the scorpion walked back, it lamented, "You should all resent your daughter. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have become like this, and I wouldn't have sought revenge on you."
“Whatever Cindy did… I’m sure she wouldn’t do anything bad.” Albert Moon said, bracing himself on the floor as he tried to stand up, staring at Scorpion. “If she did something bad that you’d want revenge for, it’s because you weren’t a good person to begin with.”
Upon hearing this, Scorpion paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. After he finished laughing, he sighed, "You're right, Mr. Albert. So, I'm going to do something that bad guys do."
The scorpion raised its tail again, opened its nozzle, and aimed at Albert, but just before it could spray the deadly acid, the spider silk stuck to its tail, and it felt a force pulling at it.
"Spider Silk" stood at its own doorstep, holding the spider silk with both hands and pulling hard.
"Get out of my house!" She used all her strength to pull on the scorpion's tail. The scorpion frowned slightly, reached out and grabbed the spider silk stuck to its tail, and pulled hard.
"You foolish little girl! My power and yours come from the same source! Besides, scorpions are the natural enemies of spiders!"
A more powerful force yanked Cindy from the doorway, sending her flying. Had she not let go in time, she might have been dragged right in front of Scorpion and taken a punch. After landing, Cindy quickly reached Scorpion and prepared to punch his unprotected chin. However, the stinging sensation from her spider-sense told her something was wrong. She hastily somersaulted, barely dodging a venomous stinger fired from Scorpion's chest armor.
"The person who did the experiment for me told me that this is called 'wild sense.' Scorpions are not as sensitive as spiders, but they are not useless either. It can tell me when is the best time to set up my trap."
With a smile, the scorpion was already prepared to point its tail at Cindy's family: "And tell me how to deal with you."
Almost instinctively, Cindy fired her webs at her family. To the scorpion's surprise, his usually effective acid failed to corrode the web Cindy fired this time. But this did not hinder his actions—the best way to deal with spider-sense is to make the spider know the danger and still make a move that will result in an attack.
Even though Cindy sensed danger, it didn't stop the scorpion from grabbing her by the neck. After all, in addition to its two arms, the scorpion also had a tail that it could use to launch sneak attacks.
"Should we deal with one first... or wait for Spider-Man to arrive...?"
Scorpion's "Scorpion Sense" detected the approaching danger, but there was no time to stop it. The roof of the Mu En family's house suddenly broke down, and Iron Man descended from the sky, stepping directly on Scorpion's body. He used the thrusters on the soles of his feet to scorch Scorpion's face, then grabbed his tail and carried him away from the Mu En family's house. This sudden change made Scorpion grit his teeth. In an instant, countless sharp stingers extended from his tail, piercing through Iron Man's armor.
"You're asking for it, Stark!"
"This is what I told you, Gagan!"
The voice coming from inside the suit wasn't Iron Man's at all. The instant Spider-Man sensed danger, he detached from the suit and grabbed Scorpion in mid-air. Scorpion looked at Spider-Man arrogantly and laughed: "So what? Kid, you're planning to punch me in the face?"
Peter, who was holding the scorpion as it fell freely, could certainly sense the danger, but his attitude was clear.
“I already told you what I’m going to do, Scorpion.”
White lightning flashed around Spider-Man, followed by a dazzling light that flickered in mid-air. A huge ball of lightning exploded, and then thick black smoke enveloped the two of them as they plummeted vertically to the ground from hundreds of meters in the air.
