Chapter 54 Dragon Egg
Chapter 54 Dragon Egg
But Coin didn't need to worry about Malfoy's affairs. All Coin had to do was accept the benefits from the Malfoy family. As for the rewards...
The rewards of social graces are something adults should consider. Cohen is only eleven years old, and eleven is the age when people don't keep their promises.
Cohen threw the stone into the closet in the house, which had been filled with many things by Cohen before.
For example, the Dungeons & Dragons living display case Edward gave her for Christmas, the snow globe Rose gave her on her birthday (but because the magic gradually faded, the little clay figurines inside could no longer chirp), countless Honeydukes candies, a large bag of frozen fire ash snake eggs, and a test tube of Acromantula venom that almost took up an entire closet shelf...
Because of the protective runes that the Room of Requirement had made for Cohen on the walls, Cohen was not worried that the Malfoys had done anything to it.
If Lucius was stupid enough to send an alchemical tool for eavesdropping as his first gift, then the Malfoy family was indeed a little too urbane.
After leaving the Room of Requirement, Coln returned to the Gryffindor Common Room.
Fred and George were dressing a round-headed gnome in a miniature Santa Claus costume in the lounge.
"Cohen, what do you think about putting this little Santa Claus in the auditorium?"
Fred saw Cohen and waved to him.
"I think Professor Dumbledore might take it home to keep—as long as we dress it up properly," George continued.
"It could have been Snape," Fred suggested.
"Maybe they'll fight over this goblin!" said Fred and George in unison.
Although the two brothers were wearing two different sweaters with "F" and "G" on them, Cohen suspected that they had secretly exchanged clothes, so it was impossible to tell who was Fred and who was George by this method.
"Cohen, do you think he looks flawed now?" Fred asked Cohen. "We trimmed the calluses off his hands and feet—and we put some hair growth drops on him. Now he looks just like Santa Claus."
"I didn't notice it at first glance, but if Dumbledore took off his glasses... I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference."
Cohen circled around to look at the goblin with a big white beard, which was tearing at its clothes - the heavy clothes made it extremely uncomfortable.
"But you'll have to find a way to keep him from doing a striptease on the teacher's desk—he doesn't look like he likes the clothes you've put on him."
If the consequences were not considered, Cohen thought he could use the Imperius Curse - but considering that the goblins had to be exposed to Dumbledore, it was obvious that a more evil spell could not be used...
That would depend on Fred and George's imagination.
"This is easy to handle."
Fred was not worried about the goblin's disobedience. He took out a book from the armchair under his butt, searched for something in it, and finally spit out a string of awkward syllables at the goblin.
"Goblin?" Cohen saw the title of the book, "Goblin for Beginners." "What did you say?"
The reason I asked the latter question was because the goblin had actually stopped moving, looking like a defeated dog.
"We said we caught the other goblins in its lair." George accurately said the goblin language Fred had just spoken, even though George knew nothing about goblin.
"That's right!" Fred high-fived George happily.
"You guys are really..."
Cohen suddenly felt that his previous strategy of simply killing was too conservative... Perhaps those eight-eyed giant spiders could do something else?
"Hopefully I'll see Dumbledore holding this Santa in his arms tomorrow - have you seen Harry and Ron?"
"No, little Ron went back to the dormitory with a big bag of food." Fred buttoned up the goblin's red cotton jacket again. "It looks like they are having a secret party - take a deep breath before entering. Any abnormal situation is normal."
"Even if you saw two naked ones—" George said. "He meant he saw Nick—you know, ghosts love holidays too, and they love to enjoy meals they can't eat." Fred stopped George from saying that word to Cohen, a freshman.
With a twitching mouth, Cohen said goodbye to the Weasley brothers and walked back to the dormitory along the stairs.
There was no sign of Harry and Ron in the dormitory. It seemed that Harry had taken Ron to the Mirror of Erised.
Dumbledore would definitely show up to persuade Harry, Cohen didn't need to consider this.
So... I can finally get a good night's sleep tonight!
But the good sleep didn't last long - Harry and Ron came back.
"Come back so early?"
Cohen poked his messy little head out from under the covers:
"I thought you wouldn't want to come back all night, Harry."
"We..." Harry didn't know what to say.
"We ran into Dumbledore." Ron's ears were still red. "He told us not to indulge in false hopes - but this is only my first time there..."
"He should have been talking about me," Harry said guiltily. "I shouldn't have taken you on a night outing... and I shouldn't have taken that mirror seriously. Cohen, you're right. I should focus on reality. There's still a Quidditch match after the holidays."
"It's okay, at least Professor Dumbledore didn't take any points off us - otherwise I have a feeling Percy would have written to my mother," Ron soothed, shuddering at the mention of Mrs. Weasley.
After a relatively harmonious night, Harry still tossed and turned in the bed next to him and couldn't fall asleep.
But Cohen slept soundly and had a dream.
I dreamed of a huge snake with dark green scales lying in a cave under a bush.
It is hibernating and looks peaceful.
When Cohen woke up the next day, he had almost forgotten the dream - all he remembered was a vague cave and the feeling of being curled up in a ball.
Harry gave the mirror no more thought for the rest of the Christmas holidays; he spent his time playing chess with Ron.
The Weasley brothers' Christmas gnome plan was also a complete success. Dumbledore took the Santa gnome away with a smile, but the gnome looked very unhappy.
Cohen was not idle either.
The day after getting the dragon egg, Hagrid wrote a letter to Cohen, asking him to come to the cabin quickly to see that he had got a rare toy.
Hager was so excited when writing that he even cut the letter paper, so that Cohen could hardly understand the fragmented words on the letter.
Arriving at the door of Hagrid's hut, Cohen knocked.
But Hagrid mysteriously asked Cohen to cover his eyes, carefully closed the door of the cabin, and then took Cohen to the stove.
The temperature in the house is very high.
"Dang Dang Dang!"
Hagrid seemed to want to give Cohen a surprise. After Cohen removed his hand from covering his eyes, he showed it to him:
"A dragon egg! I won it from a card player! I bet you've never seen one before, we can raise it together! Merlin's beard, first the black unicorn, and now the dragon egg, I can't believe what a good year this is!"
Hagrid looked quite excited, his big black beard twitching.
