Chapter 55 Norbert will spend his whole life to heal his childhood
He really likes raising things.

Ali was lying on Hagrid's bed, lazily reminding Cohen that there were many empty bottles of butterbeer next to it.

[But I take it back, Butterbeer is pretty good.]

There was a thick blanket on the floor, and it seemed that Hagrid had chosen to sleep on the floor - a completely unsurprising arrangement.

But for now, Hagrid's attention should be completely diverted to the dragon eggs.

"But I haven't learned anything about this - Coin, can you help me borrow some books from the library? About dragon hatching?" Hagrid asked expectantly, "I never thought I could actually get a dragon egg before - it looks so beautiful..."

This dragon egg is actually not "extremely beautiful". It looks like a duck egg that is much larger, with a black eggshell that seems a bit dirty.

"Okay, I'm going to the library to return a book later," Cohen agreed. "I also want to see what a fire dragon looks like."

In fact, Cohen mainly wanted to see the strength of the dragon's soul. The Fawkes he saw at Dumbledore's place last time had the same soul strength as Dumbledore. Maybe the fire dragon's soul strength was also beyond the standard.

But whether to eat it or not is another matter - Cohen felt that it was a bit unreasonable to kill a newly born dragon for the sake of about 1% of its soul completeness. It would be better to grab a lollipop.

Cohen was very efficient in borrowing books because Madam Pince was accustomed to Cohen's borrowing frequency of three times a week. As long as the books were not in the restricted area, she would review them quickly.

This time I borrowed "Fire Dragon Species in Britain and Ireland", "From Fire Dragon Egg to Hell", "A Guide to Raising Fire Dragons", and a book called "Raising Dragons for Fun and Profit".

Madam Pince's sharp eyes did not find any traces of fire on Coin's body - she thought this guess was stupid - an eleven-year-old wizard could not get a dragon egg.

By the time Cohen returned to Hagrid's hut, Hagrid had already impatiently built a nest and a hatching pot.

"Dragons take two weeks to hatch," Coin warned Hagrid of his overly excited behavior. "And they don't live in nests made of cotton. This thing will burn down your wooden house."

Hagrid then identified the egg as a Norwegian Ridgeback based on the description in "Dragon Species of Britain and Ireland".

They needed to roast the eggs over a fire—because the mother dragon would breathe on them—and then wait for the hatchlings to hatch, feeding them chicken blood brandy every half hour after they hatched. (“Is dragon saliva brandy?” Cohen questioned the book’s account.)
In its egg form, the little dragon has no soul, and Cohen can only wait for it to hatch before he can see it.

And the incubation takes a full two weeks...

So the responsibility of keeping the fire burning during this period fell to Hagrid.

The tail end of the holiday passed in a flash, and they had to start classes again.

When Hermione came back, she heard that Harry and the others had stayed up all night for several nights in a row and went out for night outings. She expressed her motherly concern ("What if Filch catches you!").

What is even more disturbing is yet to come——

On the weekend of the first week of school, Harry had a Quidditch match against the Slytherin team.

The key point is that the referee this time is Snape.

"Snape referee?!" Ron asked incredulously during breakfast. "Is someone crazy? When has he ever refereed a Quidditch match?!"

"He definitely has bad intentions." Hermione now firmly suspected Snape, "Perhaps you can teach us how to read the counter-spell, Coin, if he attacks Harry again..."

"A Saint will not be defeated twice by the same move."

Cohen shook his head, because it was not Snape who caused the trouble, but Quirrell and himself.

Now that Snape was the referee, Quirrell certainly wouldn't dare to act so recklessly anymore - the referee could see almost the entire field and could easily spot who was using the evil curse.

"He failed last time, so there's no way he'll fail again this time with the same trick."

Harry and others were in distress.

"Don't participate in the competition." Hermione said worriedly.

"Just say you're sick?" Ron suggested.

"Or pretend to break your leg?" asked Hermione.

"Really break your leg." Ron seemed to have made up his mind.

"I'm going to break your legs," Cohen said in a firm tone. "You just have to pay me ten Galleons. After all, I'll be put in solitary confinement for assaulting a classmate."

Cohen drew his wand. "Ha, thank you."

Harry replied dryly to Coin.

"But I can't do that. There's no backup Seeker on the team. If I quit, Gryffindor won't be able to play this match."

Harry, Ron, and Hermione all prepared for the worst, but the Quidditch game turned out just as Cohen had predicted—nothing happened to Harry.

And this time Dumbledore was also here, so Quirrell was even more afraid to do anything.

Without any outside interference, the match was over in just five minutes, and Harry's headlock speed seemed like a cheat.

"He cheated!"

The unknown captain of the Slytherin team shouted again - last time he shouted that it was unfair because Harry caught the Golden Snitch with his mouth.

but……

"It's open just because it's open?"

Cohen nonchalantly said for Harry:
"This game is all hard work and sweat, isn't it, Harry?"

"Indeed." Harry had an irrepressible smile on his face.

The happiness that filled Harry lasted for half a day, maybe less.

Because when Cohen saw Harry in the lounge again, his face was full of melancholy.

Hermione and Ron beside him also looked a little strange.

After Cohen sat down, they began to whisper to Cohen about what happened to Harry after the game -

Harry was about to return his broom to the broom shed after the match, but he saw a hooded figure quickly leave the castle and run towards the Forbidden Forest.

"I got on my broom and followed them, and found that it was Snape and Quirrell." Harry said worriedly, "I heard their conversation. Snape was threatening Quirrell to help him steal the Philosopher's Stone."

"We're going to assassinate Snape?" Cohen raised his eyebrows.

"If I may," Harry said longingly.

"Don't even think about it. You won't be able to kill Snape alone in five years." Cohen broke Harry's fantasy. "Instead of worrying about that, you might as well worry about the homework you haven't done yet this week."

In the second week, Harry began his free life as a Hogwarts detective again because of the new weekly homework.

In order to find out the magic that protects the Philosopher's Stone, Harry takes his friends to Hagrid, the only person they can ask about the Philosopher's Stone.

Inevitably, the other three people also discovered that there was such a big dragon egg hidden in Hagrid's house.

"Shh..." Hagrid pulled the four people into the house, "Don't tell anyone, this belongs to Cohen and me..."

"Hagrid, you've exposed me." Cohen reminded him with some difficulty, although the impact was not significant.

"Oh - sorry..." Hagrid covered his mouth rashly.

"You're raising a dragon and you didn't tell us!" Harry asked Cohen in disbelief.

"This is illegal Coin!" Hermione said anxiously, "and Hagrid lives in the cabin!"

"We'll move the dragon to another place when it grows bigger." Cohen had already thought of a way out for the dragon. "Don't worry."

"I'm keeping an eye on the time." Hagrid had almost forgotten about their discussion about the law. He was only concerned about when the dragon eggs would hatch. "The dragonlets will hatch in two days - you definitely don't want to miss this - then you and I can be the first people to see the dragonlets when they are born!"

I hope this little dragon won’t be frightened by a hybrid evil creature that hits its face right after it’s born…

Cohen felt that Norbert would spend his whole life healing the psychological trauma left behind when he was just hatching.
